  1. This is one of the reasons why I've uninstalled half-life and the steam "solution". I think their implementation of copyright protection is way above and beyond is the game is not worth it my book. Because of this "tie down", I am not allowed to even give the game to someone else......(even If I notify steam/valve).
  2. I understand the code sequence generation....I've really got no problem with that and understand it fully. Obviously there is some bit routine on the local pc that checks for licensing validity after the code has been generated and sent to starforce, When does it check? Because if I purchase this license I should not be limited to the amount of times I wish to install it on any Single hardware platform of my choice over any period of time. (obviously only on MY ONE machine). I've never heard of a expiration scheme set to licensing software. The 5 times registration maximum would equate to exactly that. There should as be a time difference watch between each registration to help circumvent the "5" limitation.
  3. ED hasn't really answered my questions concerning starforce and ED policies. My question had to do with images, and Wags response to it was very general and I have to surmise what it going to happen. I can only gather by this response that a unique code is created when first installing this software and is kept on the StarForce servers. I'm somewhat ok with this, but am still reserved on this issue. (ie..what happens when I'm not playing lockon, is it still running on my PC?) So 5 installs are possible and that's it? I've had Falcon4 (amongst many) since it first came out and I've installed it multiple times on different hardware through out the years, and not once did I have to say... "please, may I install this game, to which I've already paid my license for?" What happens with this product 5 years from now? It's quite probable that I won't be playing this version then, but I do NOT believe that ED should limit the amount of times I can install this program thu the years. What happens when ED folds? (god forbid) or is bought out? Very concerned in PA, USA.
  4. Reposting my oringal question.. what happens for those who reinstall their pc periodically? Does the starforfe software get a profile for that machine and stor that info off site?. This is why a redo of one's pc would be a bother, beacause starforce it set to pull the info done first for verifications? someone know something about thie senario?
  5. appear my question got lost in all the panic posts.... bump....
  6. Wags, I image my OS so I don't have to keep re-activating with M$. This way, I can do whatever I want and no matter what be back up and running in as little as 20min. These images DO NOT include games, just necessary apps and updated windows. Since starforce is not in the image, what happens when other programs pooch my PC, and i reapply the image? Make no mistake, I've actually reimaged my PC 3 times in a week testing something and then reinstalled whatever proggy's I wanted afterwards. In this case I do think this will cause problems with ED's implementation of starforce. (example: due to the way Half-Life and steam went, after the 3rd time of reinstalling I no longer install or play it. It's too much of a hassle. And I'm quite sure I'm not the only one). I run three Notes Domains globally, NT administration, and a host of other IT stuff, both from my home and work. So testing is necessary from time to time for myself and I can already foresee this getting in the way. Shit, I even have a image with has no Video drivers, so when ATI puts out a major point release of the catalyst, I'm at a "clean" state. What will ED do for people who are in my position? thanks,
  7. I am in the same boat... what happens after 3 are used?
  8. thanks, much.... re-downloading....
  9. bump.... ED??? you listening? or ED..вы слушая?
  10. Does the d/l-able demo have the fixes/patches incorporated with it? (for a clean d/l of demo) Or must we d/l load all three files?
  11. what's wrong with Frugal's. It's a great place for Falcon info.....
  12. They're not putting the F15 to what it is supposed to be and you wan't them to fix eye candy :?: no offense.. but I don't get it.. :?: :?:
  13. don't get any hopes up... it not even in production yet. asking whether lockon will support it ,is getting way ahead of oneself..... remember, nowadays, it's Marketing exageration as the norm. don't get your hopes up until you physically see the card on the shelfs.
  14. Re: performance enhancements? very true. I tried on a my work computer (p4 2.8 w2gig ATI x300) and it blows.. HARD. My home.. P4 2.8 w1gig and ATI AIW 9800 and it's quite acceptable. Even fantastic if I keep the res at 1024x768 and settings to medium.
  15. maybe it gonna happen now.. before it was "end of January 2005" and "end of Februrary 2005",.. now it says "is planned for March 2005"... there is no "end".
  16. Release date changed to March 2005 on main page.
  17. http://www.biohazcentral.com - I thinnk precog's is there. mine... http://lockon.theflaggs.com files section...at the bottom.... for the 4.x driver
  18. I disagree ... the 22 is designaed to penetrate hostile airspace and establish air dominance ... it isn't going to find 'strikers' ... its going to find a integrated air defence environment supporting local figthers ... and its designed to go it and kill anything it finds ... I'm sure its a great a/c ... but 12:1 lets be realistic! And you start hanging external stores and you lose steath ... so I doubt it'll do much of that. James It can guide other F22's (and probably JSF, F15, 16) missles also... so yes.. 12:1 is quite possible. Remember, 1 uses TWS and everyone launches - radar off. This 1 22 can guide them all to target....
  19. There is nothing at the AVG anti virus web site about this. nor Symantec (http://www.sarc.com). Possible this is a false-positive?
  20. As per my last post on this subject They were listening and have made no final decision. I was way wrong ..... But I did get the chill and go have a beer until they announce it part right... (woo hooo) Thanks for the post.[/url]
  21. Re: LOMAC-Flaming Cliffs Copy Protection GOOD NEWS!!! jethro... give that man a cigar!
  22. Y'know , In reading all this and the other posts concerning this issue, I've come to the conclusion that ED has already made a decision about it and they really are not listening. I've only seen beta tester posts (no offence meant guys!) and nothing from ED directly. So we have a few choices. 1. Wait until the release and verify what is going on and what will happen 2. Object and scream before the facts are at hand and increase your nitrol glycerol perscriptions. I say do number 1 and go find a nice woman to share a drink with. (then bitch to her about the privacy/ownership issues IF you know it will get you laid)
  23. I totally agree. This is why I Image my windows drive, so restore is a breeze and activation was done before the image was created.
  24. Hopefully they have produced English version CD's and will allow Western Individuals to purchase the CD's then. I've uninstalled Half-Life for this very reason. I'm sick and tired of software developers trying to take over MY machine to protect their assets or spread their verison of "truth" in advertising. Now if this copy protection check will run ONLY when I run the game, then exit so it won't hog my resources while playing.. well Ok then. This would be acceptable. But install a continuously running process on MY machine to protect your butt? - I don't think so - Please allow for Western customers to purchase the CD's.
  25. Genius BGP :!: I am now kicking myself for not thinking of it, D'Oh!, I have kept meaning to post this very same question myself. AFAIK the saitek software will not allow cyclic keystrokes on one button. (the press and hold works, but not great).... so I'm confused. How did you cycle keystrokes to one button in X45? (I use the profile editor only) you'll do it within Lomac. Choose teh keyboard and klick "flight" below "KEY COMMANDS", choose flight mode and assign one unused key to wichever mode you want. the latest to the first of course. no great explanation i know, but youll figure it out. the you assign that key ("<" in my case) to a button in your saitek software. no great explanation perhabs, but youll will figure it out. :) did the press hold thing before aswell. this is good, more with 1.1 when more modes than hms will be usefull (with the new autolock). :P gustav, So If I got you right, in Lock ON, under input - keyboard, I would change 1, (nav) 2, (BVR), 3 (Bore), 4 (vscan) to a "<" (for example). then in my saitek software, I would assign only one button to "<". Wouldn't this cause a conflict in Lockon? (sorry for being dense....)
