If you prefer other development priorities, then you should be posting your own enhancements rather than discrediting those you disagree with. You are not the sole user, and decision maker. I see many request from other I don't cafe about, but I don't pretend to be the ED accountant or project manager and say what is not viable. You keep referencing xbox and arcade games in trying to promote doing nothing for the game.
-
For those who prefer any empty cockpit, this request does not eliminate that option. Just keep using what you have so far. Why can't new features be new options? For those who think it is too hard to do, why does the pilots leg move when pushing the pedals? Because it is possibly. I don't understand why some people put so much effort into being nay sayers and keeping the technology in the game from advancing. That's like Dark Age mentality. Then what is the point of a wishlist forum?

Please excuse me if this has already been suggested. Would it be possible to add the F7 AWACS/GCI Comms menu for Combined Arms ground units, like AAA, SAM, Tanks? Played as M48 and figured it would help knowing bogey bearing.

It would help in the future if you clarified which point (wing increase type/pitch up origins/relevance of high lift devicces) you were refuting in the beginning. Then we have been in agreement all along, the Sabre Dance is the plane's worse handling attribute and it was never solved with later model enhancements, as these did not include high lift device options. Thank you for the stall stats.
-
Good for you. Is there anything in the wiki article you disagree with? If not then what is your point if it comes from wiki? Prove it wrong. Instead you admit the increase in wing did not solve the sabre dance issue and that C and D models behaved the same at low speed high aoa. So what are you confronting me about then?

I agree with you Sirrah.

From your post I suspect you are like me and key map all the controls. For me, I map both the up and down position of the F-5 damper switches, so I can be confident it is turned off, like a real pilot. But for those who run out of keys and have to map the toggle, they have no choice but to look down. Unlike us, some people may rely completely on the click able cockpit in which case, they have no choice but to look down. Whether a user uses either keyboard or click able cockpit, users still need to look down. Eg. Check fuel flow in Bf-109 Eg. Check remaining chaff/flare in F-5 If the virtual pilots body blocks these, this is what we hope will be fixed here.

That is even better than what I suggested!

Holy cow, I agree with everything you said!

How "Not really"? From the wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch-up " As the primary causes of the pitch-up problem are due to spanwise flow and more loading at the tips, measures to address these issues can eliminate the problem. In early designs these were typically "add-ons" to an otherwise conventional wing planform, but in modern designs this is part of the overall wing design and normally controlled via the existing high-lift devices. ... More common solutions to the problem of spanwise flow is the use of a wing fence or the related dogtooth notch on the leading edge of the wing. This disrupts the flow and re-directs it rearward, while also causing the buildup of stagnant air inboard to lower the stall point. This does have an effect on overall airflow on the wing, and is generally not used where the sweep is mild. To address the problems with spanwise loading, a wider variety of techniques have been used, including dedicated slats or flaps, ... "

 If we were adding a new Bf-109 (like there is more than one FW-190), I sway towards the Bf-109B, to battle the I-16, during the Spanish Civil War.
-
Thanks tosmonaute! Yes the pilot's body adds to the immersion, if it wasn't such a couch potato.

Oh, okay, Sorry for the misunderstanding SharpeXB
-
Sorry just to clarify, I use it as a rate fighter in the sense that I keep my speed up, not that I out rate it. With the MiG-21 capable of over M2, they will always be zippier. Although if you look at the maneuver graphs for both from the official manuals, you will see the F-5E has the same sustained turn rate as the MiG-21 at about 2000 feet higher. Which means if they are level, F-5E has the turn advantage. I think we have all see the report of the Soviet Tests of the F-5E and how it can dominate a MiG-21Bis in 1 minute.
-
If I am flying against the MiG-21, a rate fighter. Against an F-14, a radius fighter, unless there are more than one of them.
-
I just re-read your post Tippis. Great points  I agree with them all.
-
Then I misunderstood you. I thought you were agreeing with Sharpe that this post was not necessary. In that case, you have my formal apology. Thanks very much for your support. I suggest you relax the strawman labeling and accusations. Using it more than often gives you an image of a debater.

Just because you and the other guy don't use it does not make it a relic. If you were steering DCS, I might rethink some of my purchases. You and the other guy can claim I just need to tweak my trackir, but with my key bindings, I don't have to look down like you do, and can do things a fraction of a second faster. Yes, my suggestion for the key in the tool tip only helps for the bindings, that was the point. Once I get the bindings, I can just turn off tool tips. If this does not work for you what solutions are you providing? If you feel strongly about it you can post a poll to get rid of the relic. I'm sure ED will want to throw away all their hard spent work.

For answers, you can reread my first response. I want a hand independent of my head movement, to look out the cockpit while my hand is ready on a switch.
-
Because it is possible in DCS. Because the mouse cursor is with respect to the screen view and I use trackir, which influences the mouse movement, as if the virtual hand is stuck to the virtual head, or as if the cursor represents the trunk on an elephant's head and is slaved to the elephants head shift, and zeroing in on a switch requires zeroing in of the head and the hand. You don't map keys? Then why does DCS have the option if everyone is like you and does not use the keyboard during flight? Are there not pilots who can have the muscle memory to reach out to a switch on the dash while still keeping and eye out the cockpit? I answer this because it is a question. If this goes close minded, this will be my first and last response in this thread for you.

In addition, it would be great if the took tips showed what keys are mapped.

It would be really great if they could do this. I found it quite immersive in other sims. Eg. Doing terrain masking while listening on the enemy freq. Then I hear they spot me. It would just be assigning the player's AI wingmen communication routines to the enemy AI, I believe. -
I prefer a P-40N, but +1.

Thank Paganus for these details. I don't play MP so this is less of a concern for me. But based on your comments, you are right, I did a search and see this thread for music. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132121&page=2 However I suppose this is a 2 part request as I also would like to hear opponent AI radio as well. -
Thank very much Scaley for all these details. I may try to use this method to disable the wire lod altogether if it helps me achieve what Fri13 and David posted.
