Computerpilot Magazine - September
BearF_CO_159th replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Very well done Gentlemen! -
I am glad you found that helpful. Thats the idea of it all! lol @ Paralyzer, the skin is our custom squad skin, its a black & 2 tone grey 'splinter' scheme. The tail has the skull and cross bones to reflecct our nickname of 'Pirates of the Crimean'. Our Su-25T's now have a similiar paint scheme

Personal favourite of mine too. As is "The Sergeant IS the Army"...but I would say that! I've tried to find an interesting and relevent quote for each section of the site

A bombing side to things? When you say 'bombing' are you referring to bombing or to A2G tasks in general? -

Perhaps the purpose of this thread is to congratulate your opponents on their skill and taking the compition in the spirit of which it is meant, not to blow their own trumpets and congratulate themselves. S! to the S77th. The 159th is back in the virtual skies again with a new look site and some new faces on the roster. As CO, I look forward to entering the 159th Guards Aviation Regiment into the LOMAC league soon. -
Yes, nice screenshot! I wonder if people complained about FPS etc etc with that release?

Ka-50 Black Shark and infantry?
BearF_CO_159th replied to akdavis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Its a good point. Not as a moving, tabbing, bergan humping, filthy, wet, whinging, ciggy smoking Army accross the map but having the ability to place Infantry positions in the same manner as the extra installations in LO:FC (ie, the road blocks/comms centers etc) Nothing too complex, battle trenches come to my mind (no, not the hell holes of 1914 - 1918) but a Platoon size trench complex. Fortified houses is a good one, everyone likes a bit of FIBUA. -
Someone correct me if I talking complete **** here but isn't the fact that the water is rendered over the whole map a means of simplifying things? I mean to cover the whole (square) map all it takes it 2 polygons of water with the required texture being displayed. Otherwise thing how intricate the modelling would have to be the coastlines alone.

Tomahawk! Now there is a blast from the past. -

Ah yes, so you did. Oops. Yes, the Ka-50 (or its prototypes) were/have/are fitted with an ejector seat. Pull the yellow and black happy handle and explosive bolts shear the MR blades off then off you go! Happy Landings! -

Autorotation is just a fancy word for 'plummeting'. lol -

Jets, well they WANT to fly...it's what they do. Helicopters, well...even WITH power they can be a handful. Every control works in opposition to everyother. Pull the cyclic, add more boot for the torque rotor (though not an the Ka-50 lol ), Move the stick forward to gain speed..oops now your dropping so add power, up the cyclic, need more boot on the pedals again...get the idea? THATS why they are such great fun either simulated or real. -
Ambitious. But why the hell not! So, lets see if I've understood correctly: The 'Next Project' is an F-16 sim which will make F4 (insert version here) look 'arcade like'. They are collabarating with a Spanish firm for the F-16 & MiG for their aircraft. ED are also setting the scene in the Middle East for this project. This is 2 years down range? After that, well, sounds like ED is taking on the world. Throws down a challenge to F4 (watch the forums boil) and the upcoming FO project. Interesting times. I cannot wait to see how this pans out. LOMAC/LOFC seem a pretty good foundation to build on. All the requests from the community may not be found in them, nor in their immediate successors but it sounds like ED have big plans. Go for it.

The re-arm with a different load out on the ramp is a good idea but would need to be controlled, making it a server option is a good method. A bit more planning for mission builders with that one! It would open up some good possibilities, ie a Su-25T is armed for a SEAD task, flies his mission and returns to the ramp, shuts down and then selects the pre-defined CAS load out. On this subject I would like to see a 'time delay' required for the reload rather than the instantaneous appearance of the weapons on the aircraft. Turning around a modern fighting aircraft is no small job after all. LO:FC isn't reality after all so I'm not saying you should be on the ground for 40 mins! But a minute or two to simulate the loading. A stockpile of weapons that decreases as they are expended would force pilots to consider weapons employment very carefully, which I think to be a good thing. If you have a limited supply of AIM 120's are you going to pop 6 at one target? After all, once those have gone your down to AIM-7's in your stockpile. Didn't Longbow 2 have this system? I seem to remember having to consider which missions deserved HELLFIRE-K's and which could get away with HELLFIRE-L's as the K's were always in short supply! A logistical SitRep informing you of when your next resupply is and what it will consist of would aid you in planning weapons allocation.
