i was wondering about that too, cause on the real plane it looks like it retracts but I've never been sure if it does or not. It is kind of a unique M2K thing though in DCS.

I see some people here are of the opinion the M2000 has a better radar than the F15C? In my experience the F15 can detect more targets quicker and of course it has an actual TWS instead of the "fake" TWS the mirage has which can't actually track more than one target, just acts as an STT without notifying target of lock. I also don't think the workload on the F15C radar is that light considering you have 3 frequency modes just like the Mirage and you actually have to switch between TWS and RWS vs in the mirage it handles both on the same screen by just making you press lock twice for STT and only once for TWS. Effectively its always in a RWS/TWS hybrid mode, so its actually easier to use in some ways than the F15 radar. I find that the F15 can see targets further away though, and also it has magical IFF built in which is nice.

I know I've somehow been hit head on at probably a mile distance by a Mig21's R3. In tacview it just said R3, but I assume it was a radar missile? -

maybe for a Coax chopper... but XP11 isn't exactly forgiving when it comes to detaching parts either. I'll have to focus on never even thinking of pushing the nose down at high speed before lowering collective.

Of the airplanes I've flown in DCS, I think the SU25t is actually the hardest to takeoff when its fully loaded. It's super easy to tip it over or go into PIO if you over control on the rudders, and its tires are easily burst. It also is easy to stall if you are too aggressive with rotation.

Super old thread but I just got the KA50 and I need help avoiding blade destruction. I've never once had it happen when I am getting the overspeed or overtorque warning. It has happened several times at high speed (250-300kmh) in either completely level flight, or when I go into a very gentle dive without first lowering collective. It's really hard to tell how far I can push the envelope when there is ZERO WARNING of these catastrophic failures. So far I've never hurt the KA pulling 3.5 G's out of a dive or doing a really hard turn, its only in these situations where I am going fast, but without the IAS warning, and just do a very gentle forward push on the stick. I do have a video but I need to edit it for uploading if anyone wants to see it happen from external perspective when I was showing 120kts in the external view, at around 1500meters alt. As for this being realistic or not, all I can say is that I've flown A LOT of sim helicopters in my time (in XP11, FSX), and this is the only one I've ever had this happen with. It's also the only coax sim copter I've flown though.

Yes, you can just uninstall it from the original drive and install it to the new one, the other drive does not need an OS installed if you already have an OS installed on the first hard drive.

I did notice they cause a frame rate hit but for me it was like 60 fps to 50 on the ground. I can't really tell the difference between 40 and 60 in a flight sim luckily. -
The F14B is a tough opponent in guns only yes, F14A not so much. Was messing around with 1v1 in an F5E and was only able to win against the F14B by staying over 400kts in a turn as much as possible, rate fighting him all the way to the deck then (with difficulty!) forcing an overshoot. Even when I was on his tail he almost got away again but I extended with nose down then pulled up hard to gun him while he was going over the top. Also they take a crazy amount of cannon to bring down.

There isn't much truth to this. The F15 was designed after that and can reach Mach 2.5. Mirage 2k came out in early 80s and is capable of Mach 2+ as well as many others. The fact is those speeds in every fast jet ever are only at high altitude with minimal load. They are the absolute top speed in the best possible condition, not the speed that you will be going in normal use 99% of the time. The fastest speeds anyone will ever be going in this game with any combat ability is about Mach 1.5 at high altitude.

There is still an "Unlock target" bind button though I think it's just for Magics?. There are a few pretty confusing commands that do different things depending on context.

Hmmm I swear there have been a few missions I never got the "mission complete" message, but still was able to go to the next mission. I thought it only actually gave you that text if you park in the specified parking spot for extra points. The only time I haven't been able to proceed is when my pilot died or some AI didn't accomplish their mission. You sure no assets are being shot down that aren't supposed to be shot down?

Hi Fun server, been on there a few times. Most recently last night. I think I may have killed a teammate one or twice after switching teams a few times trying to balance things out. No warnings though. Seems like everyone pretty much flies in the IR missiles and guns area. One minor peeve. I ran out of everything and was trying to land, gear out, popping flares, obviously in the traffic pattern, and a guy in an F15 was still trying to kill me. He eventually got me even though I was clearly not fighting back and trying to re arm, where he would have easily be able to kill me on the runway if he had just waited (is that ok to do?). Just was kinda surprised he kept going for me after it was obvious I was attempting to land, but whatever.

Is there any update on bugs being fixed with the radar? I can't find any information. All I see is the pilot being worked on which I don't care about. What about the TWS not actually being TWS and the lock brackets being misaligned?

Follow chucks guide (mudspike.com) for proper startup, also there are some videos which show the procedure on youtube.

Chuck updated his guide and it looks like the MWS is correct actually, he just hadn't updated it so it showed an older capability. Currently it works very well, saves me all the time.

Hmm I find the AG rockets and guns to be extremely accurate once you are in range. 1.5-2nm is at the extreme end of the range, so yeah they will fall short.
