Well this doesn't actually apply to this thread but if I "Air-Start" a mission and I have my TM HOTAS throttles in the Eng Stop position -- I lose both engines immediately...
I almost always do a cold-start from the ramp and reset my throttles and switches after each mission.... But, sometime I forget to go to "flight-idle" before starting a non-cold-start mission...
Love the realism!!!
Rog, thanks for the info... I got out of the USAF in 1993 not too long after my tour in ODS. Worked in the Space Shuttle program for 4 years and am now a US Army IT Contractor.
That's the 1st time I heard that story .. very interesting ... I can see how the "Fog of War" can cause such incidents...
Strange that the RWR didn't recognize it as a "non-threat" ... but then again, who knows... Good to know it was only superficial damage.
I served in ODS (USAF - Dhahran, SA) and heard many strange stories - especially from the F-15E drivers and how they had to do some "interesting" tactics to attack their target(s).
>>I would love to remove the notch all together but dont want to take the throttle apart (i have a history since i was 3 of taking things apart and not being able to reasemble)
I had that problem too LOL! - but I would draw diagrams of the components then reassemble... Now, with digital camera technology - it's easier to take snapshots then use that to put it back together... Not a perfect solution, but has helped to "make" it work as designed... GL
Wonder if this would help - try adding a very "little" speed-brake and keep on the power a bit... And, I do have the TM WH HOTAS... worth the extra $$$ overall
Edit: Personally, I've never performed aerial refueling - but have done formation flying (long time ago in the USAF) - but give a try... WTH
>>Problem is getting a proper hotas set up really. Once you get comfortable being able to do it all without having to pan and view to try and find stuff it gets faster.
For Christmas my wife bought the TM HOTAS Warthog and I hardly ever have any CTD's anymore and I find the sim almost impossible to fly "efficiently" without it - [iMHO]..
Edit: And there's little no change in the configuration (unless you want certain features to be activated)... It's very expensive but very worth the $$$ to overcome the headaches with other controllers.. .02 Cents.
>>It's a urine bag with suction. There are some aircraft I've worked on that have "relief horns" under the seat. It's simply a funnel connected to a tube with suction created from the bleedair system, that's vented from the bottom of the aircraft. At altitude the urine dissipates before reaching the ground.
On the OV-10A's we had Pilot Relief Tubes [same thing you're saying] - we never used them - it was dirty and nasty [no pecker going in there]... Always had a Piddle-Pack available if the time to relieve yourself was absolutely necessary.
LOL!!!
Almost sounds like a "Good Cop, Bad Cop" situation.. very funny!
Ever since I got the TM HOTAS, almost Zero crashes or anything ... truly a great Sim ... now, if I can only talk my Wife into letting me "play" some more ... damn... ;-))
They let the USAF use guns (M-16 / M-4)??? LOL
I'm a USAF Desert Storm Veteran .... and they didn't give us guns; just Chem Suits...
Moody AFB (Valdosta, GA) F-4E/F-16A been there - done that [didn't get the T-Shirt] -- long time ago... ;-))
