  1. Should be no problem, you managed before :D The new hall we were put in for the last two events wasn't suitable at all for the LLTM (in contrast to Hangar 23, which was perfect) With the glass walls and roof there was too much light in there. People were trying to block the sun with sunshades, boxes, blankets, etc. The location at WZZRD doesn't have this problem, there will be no daylight in the hall we will be sitting in. All I can say is: Attend if you can, we will have some great missions for DCSW and FC2 as well!
  2. Is it possible to host missions which are created using addons like P-51, CA, FC3, etc, using just DCS World? I want to build some missions on my flightsim rig, and then host them on another pc, which only runs a clean copy of DCS World. Will that be possible, or do I need all modules used in the mission to be installed on the server as well?
  3. Man, that is more than twice what we would pay here in NL. The store where I bought it now has it on sale for 239 Euros (that is $310,46)
  4. That would have looked a bit strange as it happened during a live demo at a flightsim event... It's a bit of a surprise to me that Logitech has discontinued the G940, as they were at the last Milsim event, and were quite open to our complaints. They even gave me a brand-new set to stress-test during the event (had to return it afterwards though :() During the event that set didn't overheat, although it did get quite hot at times. I am currently saving money for a Warthog, as my FFB is making more and more strange noises lately.
  5. I have been using a G940 for over 2 years now (bought it the first week it hit the stores). It is not a bad stick, but it has its quirks. Recently we were doing a very long (over 2 hours) formation flight, and suddenly my FFB switched off because the stick got overheated. A squadron member had the same issue, and tried to solve it by drilling holes in the base over the FFB motors. I will continue to use it until it is worn, then I think I'll go for the TM Warthog.
  6. You can be anywhere on the airfield, even on the grass, to have your aircraft repaired. Not everything will get repaired though. If you land with a damaged engine, hydraulics, electrical systems, or even a wing or tail fin missing, it will get repaired. If you do a belly landing or break your landing gear, this wil not be repaired. If I have some failure or damage, I land my plane on a friendly airbase, shut down my engines and wait. I keep the canopy closed, so I can see when my aircraft is repaired (the canopy will open when repairs are done)
  7. It's not only the F-15 which makes that noise. The F-16's nozzle also 'whoops' when opening or closing, and it can easily be heard from 100 meters away. The Tornado also makes this sound when the thrust reverse buckets are opened and closed. Haven't heard it on any Russian birds though...
  8. Already did that when I first saw that topic. I've been following posts about this issue for quite some time, but none of the devs seems to care about it, the only 'officials' posting in those topics are the moderators, who can't say much about the topic (either because they don't know, or because of NDA)
  9. I know it's not your call, but I know ED are reading here as well. What's stopping me from using a 3G router are the costs, I'd have to pay for every byte transferred, which can quite add up over a weekend. Also, the cable would have to be quite long (over 100 meters in Aviodrome), so that's not an option. To be honest, I'm getting tired of everyone offering the 'solution' of using a cell phone or equivalent. How is EtherealN going to connect via 3G when he's in the Himalayas or driving through Siberia? ;)
  10. When hosting over a LAN, I know all players who want to join my server, and if someone is being a jerk, I can personally go to him and kick his ass. Please reconsider the way this master server requirement is working now, else you'll ruin some very great events (i.e. FS Weekend, Milsim, LLTM to name but a few)
  11. You don't need to go into the himalayas or drive through Siberia to have no connection. Just try setting up a LAN inside a hangar, preferably an all-metal one, in the middle of an airfield (either military or civil). Also, IIRC LAN stands for Local Area Network, i.e. not necessarily connected to the outside world (as opposed to WAN, or Wide Area Network) And another thing. Let's say we do have internet, who is going to guarantee us that we are able to reach the master server? The connection could be broken at: - My local PC - My router - My modem - My ISP - My ISPs backbone - EDs ISP - The datacenters router - The master server itself Please note that this might not be a complete list. So even IF the master server is eventually stable as hell, there are more than enough other points of failure, making this 'solution' less than desirable...
  12. That's what everyone here says each year, yet no-one ever subscribes to these events when they are announced... (FS Weekend, Milsim, LLTM, to name a few)
  13. Currently, I will not buy FC3. Compared to FC2, for me it's a step backwards, with more limitations and added features I don't use. I often play over LAN, with no internet available. In FC2, I can; in FC3, I can't The 3D models and skins are outdated (they seem to be extracted from Lomac or even Flanker 2.0) In FC2, I can fly all day without a glitch, haven't been able to do that yet in DCS World.
  14. Well, since ED seems to ignore these network issues (except Jim, who unfortunately can't really help us), I conclude that we simply aren't allowed to play DCS multiplayer when there is no internet available. This will not only have consequences for Milsim and the FS Weekend, but also for the LLTM. As it stands now, I will not set up a DCS competition there, as I don't have any guarantee the master server will be reachable throughout the event.
  15. I've already experimented with something like that, using a colander and a sieve (both close to being parabolic), but without satisfying results. You can't amplify a blocked signal...
  16. We can try to go online, I have a 3G dongle on USB. But since we're inside an all-metal building, reception will be crappy at best. Also, having to connect every time you restart multiplayer will quickly take the fun out of it. It can also become quite expensive, as I pay a fee for every MB transferred.
  17. You will need the connection each time you start DCS multiplayer. So every restart (either a reboot or a restart of DCS) needs an internet connection. Since we live in a country where mobile internet providers charge you for every bit that you transfer, this can get quite expensive. So if using a cellphone is the only solution, we will not promote DCS at events like the FS Weekend or Milsim.
  18. During the first weekend of November, the Aviodrome museum at Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands will once again host the biggest flightsim event in the world. Over 300 participants will show the public what flightsimming is all about, from the simplest desktop to a full-blown working cockpit of an F-16, F-104 and Boeing 737. There will even be several home-made 6DOF motion platforms on display. For a complete list of participants and more info on opening times and entrance fees, visit http://www.fsweekend.com and http://www.aviodrome.nl The Dutch Flanker Display Team will be entertaining the crowd with close formation flights (usually extremely low), dog fights and checkrides for those who are interested. Since there will be no internet connection at the event, we will not be flying DCS, but sticking to FC2 instead. [edit] Added some pictures of last year #1. Build-up, the v-pilots are brought in :) #2. The cockpits are set up and tested #3. The queue of visitors waiting to get in #4. Demo time!
  19. Sounds like a challenge! :) Will try it next tuesday with an Su-27 (maybe even four) in FC2 during our weekly DFDT evening session.
  20. We sure had a great time. In the evening we had dinner together with the guys from Virtual 322 Sqn, 1.JaVA and Rise of Flight. The daily stroll to the restaurant: Having a drink while watching youtube videos: Breakfast in the museum crew room on Sunday morning: This was the last time we could use this location, next year it will be torn down and the museum will move to a new location.
  21. It was yet another great event, thanks everyone involved! This was our setup for the weekend: Action shot :) Below is a group photo of DFDT with our two guest pilots: Left to right: LigerZero, Joe Kurr, Alvarez (SVK), Sense (FSF), Beerhunter, Wasserfall The above pictures were taken by Alvarez.
  22. Small update: Two guys from Dutch radio (Q-Music) will be there to fly with us on one of the days. Amongst other things they will do a dogfight against each other.
  23. I had a chat with Jim during Flying Legends earlier this year, and he told me he couldn't make it to the event. The website hasn't been updated in a while, so I think that's why ED/TFC is still on there. I will also be there with the Dutch Flanker Display Team, flying FC2 and maybe DCS / FC3 (fingers crossed)
  24. With DFDT we're having similar issues, and have decided to drop DCS in favour of FC2. In the last three weeks, we have been able to fly DCS online for about 30 minutes... I'm also seriously considering to not show DCS at public events, due to the frequent problems connecting to the Master Server. Better stick to FC2, which actually works. Since ED seem to ignore threads like this, I don't expect these issues will be solved anytime soon...
