You mean this one? :D

Some pics from Thursday, when most participants arrived and rehearsed. This day also had the best weather, although the wind direction was wrong. It should have been perfect had the wind been blowing from the West... 1. These two Spanish EF-18s were already there when I arrived 2. The newest aircraft in our fleet: C-130H reg G-988 3. The brand-new Belgian F-16 Solo Display looks really nice 4. Ali Oztürk putting his Acromach through its paces 5. Arrival of the French Alpha Jet 6. Belgian display pilot Michel Beulen practices his routine in the spare F-16 7. Tight turn of the C-17 8. Impressive sight 9. As close as it gets 10. Spanish EF-18 Solo Display prepares for take-off 11. Always a beautiful sight (and sound!): the Hawker Hunter 12. The E-3A 'AWACS' has arrived

I had that lens once, but it got stolen :( Now I have the Sigma 150-500mm with optical stabilizer. It's great for fighter action shots, but too much for planes like the C-17.

One more. The Belgian F-16 Solo Display doing a high speed (Mach .95) flyby

Great shots Frazer! I particularly like the one showing the helicopter line-up after the airpower demo, looks very impressive. I'm still working through all my pictures, got three days worth :) Here are two, more will follow. 1. Belgian F-16 throwing flares against a very dark rain cloud 2. Dutch AH-64D Solo Display with flares while doing a loop

You don't need to be on the runway / taxiway / parking area in order to get repaired. As long as you are on the ground in the general vicinity of a friendly airbase (less than half-way to the nearest other airbase will do) your aircraft will be repaired. I haven't tried with collapsed / retracted gear yet. Last weekend I damaged both engines on landing (too much AoA) and didn't make it to the parking area as my engines stopped and steering became impossible when I left the runway. (engines off = no control whatsoever) I ended up in the grass between the runway and the platform, and after about 3 minutes my aircraft was good as new :)
-
In this screenshot I landed outside Novorossiysk after a mid-air collision and ejected afterwards to take a stroll in the area. When I returned to my aircraft it was repaired, they even installed a brand-new canopy.
-
Even if you land on a road in the area around a friendly airbase (less than half-way to the next airfield), your aircraft will be repaired. Haven't tried rearm / refuel there yet.

You can download an use Visual Studio Express (VB.NET / C# / C++ / Web Developer) for free. Visual Studio Express downloads For code examples, tutorials etc, take at look at these sites: http://www.codeproject.com/ http://www.codeguru.com/ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/default.aspx

Not much news to report. For the debrief to work correctly, I need to alter the export.lua script as well. I have found some lua scripts which might come in handy, but I still have to figure out how they work. At the moment I'm working on an export tool to show flight paths in Google Earth, maybe I can combine the two.

Experiment: Logging FC2 flights with Google Earth
Joe Kurr replied to Joe Kurr's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks, that clears things up a bit :) I'll try some long flights and see where I end up. Then I can determine if it's a fixed offset, or if I need to calculate it point for point. When I have the coordinates match I'll try a live feed, something like the F10 Theatre view, but in 3D. At first only with own aircraft, later maybe with more data, depending on the size of the generated files. (the track in my opening post consists of no less than 33228 points) -

EtherealN, could you please explain a bit? I don't quite get what you're saying. -
Experiment: Logging FC2 flights with Google Earth

Export.lua already provides lat/long coordinates, but they are offset a bit to the southeast it seems. I hope the offset is uniform for the entire map, otherwise it could get quite difficult to get it right in Google. -
Recently a new idea popped up in my mind. Wouldn't it be cool if you could get a track of your flight in Google Earth? Today I started working on getting the necessary data out of FC2, and converting it to a kml file for Google Earth. I still need to figure out a lot, but here are some screenshots of my first test-flight: #1. Take-off from Sochi-Adler. As you can see, the in-game coordinate system is a bit off compared to Google Earth. #2. Zoomed out a bit to view the entire route #3. After arriving at Gudauta, I did some simple aerobatics. #4. Another overview, this time looking back from Gudauta to Sochi. Again you can see the offset in coordinates. To be continued ... :)

I have changed it so I can use the switches in my cockpit. The coming time my export.lua will change several times, as I will be testing some other possibilities.

My debrief viewer parses the debrief.log file in the Temp folder. This file is automatically created on the server, don't know if this will also work on the clients, but you've got to start somewhere :)

Finally had time to check, and it seems names will be logged only if the mission designer replaced the "Pilot #1" names in the mission editor. So whatever names you put there, will be visible in the debrief. Below is the result of a simple test-mission I did, with two client aircraft, named "Testpilot 1" and "Testpilot 2" When joining the mission, I used my own nickname: "Joe Kurr", and selected the first slot, flew around a bit, then pressed Escape, selected the second slot, and flew around with that one until I crashed. Another thing I noticed, this may be a bug: On Kutaisi, the shelters don't open when you spawn inside, but you can safely exit through the closed doors.

We have been using this ATC client on the Lowland Tiger Meet for three years now, and it works like a charm with LOFC 1.12. During the last event, we used it during the SEAD and BVR Night missions, which made those missions a kind of chess game between both radar operators (red vs blue), with the pilots being the chess pieces, moving where the radar operator wanted them to be. We also use the ATC Client for the referee to have a complete birds-eye view of what's going on in the mission, and to determine which team has air superiority in the end. To answer your questions: 1. Version 1.44 is the most recent version, but it is highly recommended that you download the previous version (1.41) because 1.44 has more bugs. We haven't tested the ATC Client yet with FC 2.0, so I don't know if it is (or can be made) compatible or not. 2. To use the ATC Client, you need to install it on the server and clients. On the server, start the ATC Server before you start lockon. The clients don't need to start lockon, they just start the ATC Client. 3. See above ;)

Cockpit footage of Russian Knights and Strizhi Diamond Training
Joe Kurr replied to Frazer's topic in Military and Aviation
Thanks, downloading now! Huge, but awesome videos. -
Almost true, the pilot wanted to eject, reached for the eject handle 3 times, but wasn't allowed to by ATC because he was still in control (barely) and it was at an airshow. The fueltanks came down 300 meters from the campsite where we were staying, everything there smelled like kerosene. The pilot managed to land safely, with his EPU running. At the end of the day, I talked to some guys from 313 Sqn, and they told me it was their most experienced pilot. According to them, any other pilot would have ejected right away, especially after the second engine surge, which happened on the downwind leg of the circuit. Here is a video of the entire incident: ZA2qMJA23wI

If BS also creates a debrief.log I think it will work
-
Need to check on that, I don't know anymore if we changed playernames in that mission or not.

I'm working on a debrief viewer for multiplayer mission results. Here is a screenshot of an early test: One problem I still have is that some events are logged multiple times. During the flight shown in the screenshot above, there was a mid-air collision between pilot #1 and #2. Although the event lasted only a fraction of a second, it was logged 80 times in the debrief. If it's done, I'll check if it's possible to launch the viewer via lua after the mission ends or the player disconnects.
