I haven't noticed any FCS damping because of wheels down and flaps in landing config. I think it happens due to drag anyway. I could be wrong. That was one thing I really enjoy with falcon 4. How different the F16 feels/flies with clean/weapon/landing config.

Nice! That was awesome. I liked the idea of 'popping some smoke' for wind checking, lol.
-
Does it get blurry at near max zoom? That's the only time I've noticed that and figured it is normal.
-
My first guess is that it happens because you are very close to release point. So it would be more sensitive. Try holding steady until the bomb drops off the rail. It may also be a bug?

ED folks that have a TM Warthog....a few questions
Echonomix replied to WarriorX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've never had a hotas before. What is the friction slider supposed to do? Does it changed the amount of force needed to move the throttles? I would think think NDA ends on release day. -
Ground crew will be implemented like in blackshark though, correct? Meaning, we will be able to land, refuel, rearm, change load out? I'm ok with not being able to see or....run over the ground crew lol. Would rather not have human FOD to deal with! Looking forward to the air crew (air refueling) !!!!

Wow, very awesome! Great pictures, wish I coulda been there. Gotta say those little bdu-33 look like a joke on the TER, lol. I mean, really? You want me to carry those little things around under my hog? really?! Are you serious?.

TY! I was double marking lol. I didn't know the tms right actually made a mark so I kept doing that and also pressing 'mk' on the panel under the hud. Followed the pdf and it finally clicked in my head, thanks. Now to figure out why all of my marks are off by 10-15m as posted above. I think it is because I am targeting too far out at too much of an angle.

I figure something will be out next week. If you look on Wags' youtube, you will see he has posted a few new videos that look like they are from a newer version than we currently have.
-
I believe the switch above the ifcc just changes the hud from day to night mode. Maybe it is a video card related issue?

Well if it helps, I'm running trackir version 5.0.300 (build 6225). Works in the ka-50 and a-10 of DCS. Also been using it in rise of flight.

IIRC, the brakes were on during startup on the blackshark. You can check this by using RCtrl + Enter to view controller inputs. The brakes are on the bottom left or right. I haven't check this on the warthog yet, but it does seem like there is a sort of parking brake applied until you either tap the brakes or go up around 85% throttle.
-
Deadzone is there to correct for errors from the joystick. Be it from bad pots (a jittery movement) or out of calibration(a constant input to one side). The spring or joint could also become worn out and cause problems. I think I have 8 for deadzone and 12 for roll and pitch.

If the program is sensing the led or reflected IR light, then it should work in game. Maybe you need to play around with setting the keybinds so you can disable/enable the tracking, enter precision mode, and reset the view? I use f9 for dis/enable, f12 to center view, f7 for precision.

Check the driver settings. You may have them set to performance and overwriting the in-game graphic settings. This may make the textures look bad enough as to where no matter if you zoom in or not, it will be unreadable.

The only thing I know of that uses force sensing is the f16. But I think the pilots hated that it didn't move, so they added a little bit of play into it. Also, friend of mine had a saitek stick, hated it. I think a lot of there stuff is designed more to catch peoples eye than to actually be used for flying, but that's just my opinion as I've never actually used their products. I do have their rudder pedals, but don't use them, lol. They may change soon though if I get the TM hog hotas. I am waiting for customer reviews for the TM hog hotas, and hoping that maybe ifixit will do a teardown to really inspect its build quality. If I'm throwing down serious $$$ on that it better be made with really good hardware :)

Isn't there a performance hit for running in windowed mode?

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..
Echonomix replied to HAVOC131's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
...when you hear a leaf blower and swear it sounds like the engines of the a-10. -
steam announcements take focus and crash the sim more than anything else for me lol. I know..... close out steam. I've tried to find a way, but I don't think there is an option in steam to have it not steal focus. It would be great if dcs would detect that and pause the game, and also not crash.

TrackIR 4 pro doesn't work

Yes there is a check box to install the 32bit exe/files during the install. -
Are there plans to actually have in-game voice comms via the in-plane radio?
-
if you guys are having a hard time stopping the plane during landing it is most likely a combination of things: 1. What speed are you landing at, what is your approach speed? *most of the time you fly the approach and land at just above stall speed, which is generally 110-130 knots in the warthog (correct me if I'm wrong please) 2. Are you using any air brake on final and after touch down + flaps? *I've heard some say that 30-40% is about right on final and of course full air brake after touch down 3. Are you holding the nose up on the roll out to allow the plane's wings/flaps to also act as air brakes? *I'm not sure if this is a correct thing to do in the a-10, but the thunderbird pilots do this on landing in the f-16. Generally you want as much drag as possible once the main landing gear have touched the ground. 4. And last, use the wheel brake as discussed so far. Speed and weight are a huge factor on how much runway is required. If any of that info I listed is wrong, please correct. I don't want to be giving out bad info :)

++ to simulating radio wave propagation. It's too bad the TM warthog hotas won't come with all the buttons and switches...somehow :(

Lets not rush this just to get it gold by the end of the year! I like how they released open beta for those who want something now. I think getting the sim gold before January would be rushing it out, which is usually a bad thing. I think gold by 1st Q 2011 is possible though for those that want an actual disc/box.
