  1. Thanks for confirming. I don't pump the brakes on rollout. I usually hold them until just before I get the caution and then I'll coast for a bit while I watch the pressure build back up, then if I need to, I'll apply more brake. Usually though, if you hang around in ground effect too long, or come back to base with most of your weapons on your wings, you shouldn't need that much brake. Don't forget the speed brake either!
  2. most likely the dll problem is outdated direct x. go here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 also, if the 64bit is still giving you trouble just run the 32bit exe. Remember this is early open beta, things should become more optimized before it is over so sit tight.
  3. I've had these happen too. I think it happens because you slowly lose hydraulic pressure while pressing the brakes. If you let up for a second it should rebuild and you can brake again. It could also be a bug, I'm not sure. Be sure to deploy full speed brakes upon touchdown too.
  4. Also, if your keyboard has a function button, you may need to hit that so that your F keys are sending F1, F2, F3, etc, instead of whatever else they may do, depending on model keyboard.
  5. Read Read Read, Study Study Study, Practice Practice Practice. Learn how to fly it first. Then how to navigate. I then learned the guns and rockets and practicing putting them on target. As some things aren't completely implemented or working correctly given this is open beta, I just get and idea and see how to get it to work. Example, since laser guided bombs are a little buggy on beta 1, I'm not bothering with them and instead checking out jdam (gbu-38) instead.
  6. Hehe, not surprised by that are you? It'd be hard not to be a bit arrogant given the fact of the amount of ass-kick he is able to deploy!
  7. For the a-10 folks. I shot this using a panasonic hdc-tm700, so apologies for the shakiness. More details are in the description of the video on youtube. Be sure to watch in 720HD and Enjoy!
  8. Ah yes, affinity. I couldn't think of what it was called, thanks. Has anyone got around to trying this with the beta yet?
  9. I've come in on final and betty yelled saying speedbrake, and I've also come in on final and not heard a warning for speedbrake. So it seems it is computed by speed. The landings I find I need speedbrakes on are heavy loaded (didn't shoot all the weapons off, 1/2 fuel or more). One landing I had some engine damage on the left engine (bullet hits on the nacelle). It was running hot and using more fuel so I just landed with a slow final where I didn't have to push the engine very hard.
  10. I mentioned this earlier in the beta forum. My friend has almost the same system specs as I do, except he is running a geforce 470. I'm on a hd5830 and he has about double my average frame rate. I think it's a combination of slightly better optimization for nvidia at this point, drivers, and the fact that ati and nvidia approach rendering different on a hardware level. Once a few optimizations are applied and maybe a new release of catalyst drivers will help the ati cards. I plan to switch to nvidia by the end of the year though.
  11. Would it be possible to stop windows 7 from splitting the execution to different cores? I think the i5 and i7 will actually run better by shutting down the extra cores and ramp up the clock speed on the single core, but only if it does not need to scale across cores, correct?
  12. Will these retailers be shipping on Oct. 20th? IIRC that is the release date, correct?
  13. Not if they know about eject! Landings seem right on to me. I'm still working on them though. One thing I'm not sure about is the speed breaks. Are they normally used on final at all? I've been using maybe 15-25% and then full once I touch down (and of course full flaps). Is that about right? What seems odd to me is takeoff. I know to turn off nosewheel steering before 80knots, and I usually start pulling up at around 110. It seems no matter how smoothly I try to do this, the plane feels like it is stuck to the runway until a certain point and then almost jumps off of it. If you have a heavy weapons load, you then have to be careful not to stall.
  14. Coming from Falcon 4.0, at first I missed the dynamic campaign. But after flying a few missions in BS I think what they have going is fine. From what I understand, BS uses a trigger system like starcraft and we know that starcraft campaigns were fun. So, if they are working on implementing a dynamic campaign for BS and future DSC release, great! If not, it isn't a deal breaker IMO.
  15. Thanks Viper. I found them in the keybind list after i read your post. They weren't named like what I thought they would be named.
  16. Hello all. I bought the game a few weeks ago and after some rough flights, am starting to get the hang of this chopper. The producer's notes are very helpful at getting up to speed with this sim. (been a falcon 4.0 pilot for a long time, so that also helped) One thing I can't find any information on though is track playback commands/options. Is there a way to fastforward/seek? I could see rewinding not being possible, but how about slow-motion? I did try searching the forums and could not find anything.
