The other advantage being the configuration of your joystick, you could then see whether your joystick is reaching the gimble limits that LOMAC uses and any jumping of control position, which can then be better adjust in the Input section of the options menu, for a smoother ride  . Please excuse me if im barking up the wrong tree, but thats my other understanding of how it could be used.

:o 4 hour mission, jeez that must have been quite tiring having to concentrate that hard for that long in a LOMAC mission. Good going
-
Well done Mcallaway, I understand what a great acheivement it is with the first contact, pleased to hear it  . How many attempts had you made before that contact? Those screenshots might be nice over in the screenshot thread also :) , as they are pretty good!!!

Thank you for that, I will get hold of it when I can, look forward to trying it out.

If only I were that lucky....  cough cough... AOL ... cough cough I should be able to muster about 4 of us, the rest dont fly LOMAC... YET  Im sure I will meet you in the sky's of Lockon in the near future, and get shot down lol :D

Oh I see, sorry. I could find it useful though, a few of us meet up to fly on LAN, so it would be quite good for us, to have a go at. how many pilots would I need to muster for a good flight? I will join you all on Hyper Lobby as soon as I get a good internet connection, ie not my current 56k "sob" Thanks

Excuse me for asking GGTharos, but where can I get hold of that, I'd like to try that, im a keen mud-mover, and that sounds like a really interesting idea for me to try out.

Whooh!! Drakkhen, those are some really fantastic shots :o great positioning!! nice one!! -
Yeah I tend to put some "recon photos" In Jpeg format into the mission folder, and in the mission briefing I put a prompt to open that file, which of course means you then have to Alt-Tab to windows and open it, but still its quite fun if your not bothered by switching to Windows of course. Obviously it would be nice... as usual

I will try the flares out when I next load up LOMAC, I noticed all the fuss about how much flares hit performance, but clearly its not so bad, in an average mission im getting between 40 - 60 fps so I suppose I do have some to spare for flares. And I agree perfectly with you that 30 is smooth, its actually not that noticeable to the human eye. Well I have to say you did a good job with those pics that little bit you did was quite subtle and yet I still believed it was LOMAC!!! well done! I would use photoshop, but I usually end-up messing things up, I just stick with what ever the screenshot gives me, because seriously I would make the biggest pigs ear of it!! I tried doing it once and made the sky look like a fresh tin of blue paint  Keep those screenshots coming its nice to see what everyone has been up to  !! I shall have some more soon, when I find something interesting to take a shot of  -

Wow, Whisper those are quite effective screenshots :D !!! I love the smoke trails from the flares and the vapour from the wing tank which appears to be damaged, they are quite dramatic. Photoshop is cool, but you cant beat real screenshots sometimes. As you may have noticed from my pic of the SU25 above, my flares have reduced quality through a LOMAN mod, although I never tried it without, you seem to have full quality on your flares, how much does that affect performance? sorry I know this is a screenshot thread, but I had to ask  -

Thought you all might like this, its an attack run on a SAM site on the coast, with myself flying at 18ft above the sea, staying below the detection area. I know its only a cockpit view, but I thought it looked quite cool, especially with the moon glinting off the sea to the left. Also I wanted to bump this thread up, it seems to keep getting lost in the pages, should be a sticky really  -
No problem  were all friends here.. I think lol

Shepski, i'd like to just say im not complaining at all, I merly asked for some advice on overcast. My system runs LOCKON fine, its smooth as silk on the highest AA and AF settings, I have no gripe at all with LOCKON. It has taken me some configuring my system to an optimum level, but other than that I do not have a problem and the flight sim runs fine :D . Im sorry if you got the impression that I was complaining, but that was not my intention, Falcon 4.0 has been gathering a little dust on my shelf since I discovered LOCKON  . Please dont take offence, but I just wanted to make a point that I am not complaining about this purely brilliant sim  . Thanks

hard disk loadings during flight
SAM-Smasher replied to scorpion2000's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Get hold of a program called LOMAN, you can adjust the terrain preload and object preload far in advance of what the config menu allows, and trust me you have more than enough RAM to do it, I had that problem until I got hold of LOMAN and did this. Give it a try. You can find this program at http://www.biohazcentral.com Good luck  -
It was in my first post, but i'll expand it for you  : Self Build: Win XP SP1 2.80C Intel Pentium 4 HT 512Kb L2 Cache ( Intel Extreme Motherboard ) 1024mb PC3200 400Mhz Samsung Dual Channel RAM 9800XT 256mb OEM SB Live! 5.1 400W Power Supply Seagate 40Gb 7200RPM 8MB cache HD (Master) Seagate 15Gb 7200RPM HD (Slave) Logitech Wingman Extreme --- Soon to be upgraded to Saitek X52 3 x 80mm Coolermaster Fans --- (Suck,Circulate,Extract) at 2600RPM idle. On that system its taken alot of fine tuning and hard work to get things running smooth and silky, I occasionaly come across a hiccup with a random fps drop for a second or two, but nothing to complain about, overcast was the last problem I had which has now been fixed thanks to Britgliders input :D
-
Ok sorry to drag this back, but I wanted to let you know that I have finally found the perfect AA and AF settings for flying above overcast in missions which contain it, my settings are now 4X AA and 8X AF ive now got 22 - 28 fps, which is perfectly acceptable, it beats 7 fps lol, and whats more below overcast its right up into the 60's at times. :D It does go even higher if I take the AA and AF settings right down, but it looks way too crappy to even dream of it. Thanks for the tip Britglider

Patch containing smoke change...
SAM-Smasher replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Not trying to be rude here :) , but why buy a "Combat Flight Sim" based heavily around air to ground and air to air engagements when your only interested in aerobatics? the accuracy of the sim is mainly pointed toward the target of the sim itself and that is combat, so why would ED bring out a patch for one user who isnt even using the flight sim as the developers had intended, thats clearly a waste of resources  ? -
Thanks for that info Shepski, the overcast mod's by Bobocop are pretty damn good, so im pleased to hear they are going into 1.1. Does that also mean that LOMAN will still be compatible in that case? Britgliderpilot - I will try it with lower AA and AF settings off or lower, I currently run it on 16x AF and 6x AA on 1280x960 works and looks like a dream without flying above overcast. I will let you know how I get on with that. Alfa - Pleased to hear that im not the only suffering this problem, shame its not going to be looked at in 1.1, but as you said its a matter of coding, so I can live with that. Besides im not going to let it ruin my enjoyment of LOMAC. Thanks for all your responses guys, I appreciate your input, I look forward to 1.1 Regards Terry

Hi guys, I have problems with overcast and im sure many do also, with Bobocops mod, flying below overcast is no problem at all, but go above and system almost grinds to a halt. Now obviously the answer is to "NOT ADD OVERCAST TO MISSIONS" or "NOT FLY ABOVE IT", but when trying to play a campaign that someone has created and it looks to be damn good, but it contains overcast, I would like to find a way around that problem other than what I stated above. Are there any settings in LOMAN that I have missed, that would help this? To the beta testers, has overcast been changed to compensate for this in 1.1? or is it not a major issue amongst most people. Please dont mis-understand me, im not complaining, just trying to find a way around the problem, and being this is the only problem I have with LOMAC im very impressed  . FYI: My system is 2.80C Intel Pentium 4 HT 1024mb Dual Channel RAM 9800XT 256mb

Wow thats some story, fancy breaking a plane just to do that!!! Im not sure which pilot I would rather be in that situation??? mocked for life by getting nailed by a Strikemaster, or getting a major shouting for breaking a plane? hmmm  And also being down in a gulley should the Strikemaster pilot even have broken off to engage, considering he may not have even been spotted by the Hornet pilot? but then there is also a possibility that the Hornet could have spotted them on a second pass? Thanks for that, that was quite interesting!!
-
lol now thats interesting!! I think thats somewhat even more rare, being that the Hornet had the capability of a proper fighter, unlike the SU-34 which is reasonobly limited, for the Strikemaster to take down a Hornet there must have been some serious pilot error on the Hornet pilots part, to let himself get into the position to be nailed by a Strikemaster. You got that right, the first luck being that the SU-34 zipped right over my canopy into the sidewinder cage. and the second luck was having the other SU-34 turn exactly how I wanted him to. I dont want to get that close to A-A combat in the A-10 again, give me some SAM sites any day :)
