So essentially unusable? I don’t know how that works IRL. i know the first time I tried SLAMs, I entered all the info for 4 separate missiles, thinking PP mode would obviously work, but nope. Had to use TOO mode for that as well. edit: I’ve been confused by this mode for years, so thanks for clarifying.
-
Hmm. I thought PP mode wasn’t implemented across jdams/jsows. Any time I’ve tried, I couldn’t get JSOWs to come off the rails either.

reported FCS applies pitch down with aileron only input with flaps
MarkyMark replied to Yeti42's topic in Bugs and Problems
this happened to me after a long MP mission returning to the boat. I don’t recall the exact scenario but I think I had to roll dramatically to get some sort of reset and regain control. I could not pitch down no matter what until I rolled out -
It’s not PB, it’s PP, as in Pre-Planned (a previously entered set of coordinates) I don’t believe PP mode is implemented and I’ve never used it.

I did some experimenting, myself. First ever recording, so bare with me. low speed performance, phenomenal. High AoA, impeccable. You can hear the tires squealing at the end, which is new to me. Perhaps part of my gear issues, though I didn’t break anything this time.
-
Overall it’s amazing, it feels much more refined. And if the landing gear issue is “correct as-is”, that’s fine too I just need a few lessons from wags or something to help document what’s changed so I can adjust my method. been doing it a certain way for a long time so it’s a bit tricky

Just wanted to chime in, I have no track but can confirm, rear gear broke twice in one mission yesterday, at Tal Siman on Syria. 1 left gear, 1 right gear. I’ve never had that happen out of approximately 30-40 landings there. It felt fine on first touchdown, but after applying the brakes, the warning sounded. I wasn’t in external view, I was focused on stopping before the end of the airstrip. 3rd time was ok at a lower AoA and slightly higher speed (approximately 145 knots), but I also pulsed the wheel brakes as I heard some skidding noises, which I’ve also never heard before.
-
Mine seemed to break after landing as well, it was a rough runway. Maybe we should report / ask / flag it in the bug section? or as intended? I don’t know
-
Both times, I was under 4,000 lbs fuel with only 2 AMRAAMs remaining on the cheeks, plus 2 aim9 on the wingtips. the 3rd time was successful, but I adjusted so my AoA was lower and my speed a bit faster, instead of slamming it down like I’m used to at that particular airfield. But, I did stop on time and before I hit the dirt at the end of the strip. This will take some getting used to.
-
Yeah. See my post below. Something definitely got weaker. It does stay straight better rolling down the runway, and stops quicker but I busted my gear twice on a really bad, short FARP.
-
I busted my rear gear twice landing at a short FARP (Tal Siman), not sure if it happened on landing or jamming the brakes to stop in time. I could hear some skid noises on my 3rd try so I pulsed the brakes a bit and didn’t wreck my plane. oh yeah, and, and As close to a Cobra as you’ll get outside of a Flanker, and low speed high AoA passes are fun heh

As shown below. I installed a new flight stick and somehow, in my adventures, my F keys stopped working with the comms menu, I now have to click the menu to cycle options, which works fine, but I’d like to fix it. now, with comms up, they do the default external camera views (chase, flyby, etc). any thoughts where I can find it? These are the only “comm” functions I can find in the options. I ran a slow repair just in case. That didn’t work. thank you in advance

Multiplayer in this game is awful

Hardware problem. A 30 player MP Syria server takes less than 20 seconds to load for me. -
Speedbrake not retracting after extending
MarkyMark replied to MarkyMark's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Fixed. I had to clear my keybinds (which did not change) and just re-enter them again. The key combos were showing, but I had to clear and enter again. -
I also noticed some squirrelly behavior rolling down the runway in a crosswind.
-
No, I don’t have a track file. Using the binds “B” and “left shift + B” is not working correctly for me, extending can work but retract won’t, unless I drop landing gear. anyone else?
-
Oh. I didn’t see this posted. I totally forgot. You can use the AZEL while switching targets to get an actual unit type as well. It will be appear in the AZEL screen. It has target identification built in, if they are headed towards you, using engine blades to determine type. I think IFF needs to be on “AI” mode to,use but I’m. It sure, that’s what I normally use.

What model #s are the AMRAAMs ?
-
If you know coordinates yes, using precise mode for weapons like the SLAM in TOO mode is very accurate. I just recently started playing with it. Have been able to hit Sam radar from 50+ miles (on Sinai map with fixed, known Sam locations). Setting up 4 locations is a bit tedious but it works.
-
Also, if you can afford to wait until you get to LAR mode (as opposed to immediately firing at SHOOT), you’re much better off. Against older f4s, mig21s, etc, go ahead and reel them in a bit

As high speed and high altitude as possible, always be prepared to be defensive in the hornet. It’s not built for air superiority. But with enough fuel and height, you’d be surprised what it can do. If you can, reduce radar azimuth and bar scan for faster radar updates and a more stable lock. Use auto track if needed. For more spread out targets you can reduce to 2 bar scan and go wider to 60 or 80 degrees. really depends if you’re against single targets, a group, aspect etc. it takes more effort than other planes like eagle, tomcat, viper but it gets it done. there are too many variables to say in one post.
-
I don’t either, I always have it active on one of the DDIs for an overall picture, but I don’t use it that often except wpt designation and distant target altitudes. Once they get closer I tend to use the TWS radar mode for that instead. Probably on a multiplayer server with no F10 map available I would need to but, meh.
