I was in a shallow dive but have CCIP bombed using this method dozens of times without blowing myself up. I think I was flying around 430 knots. Edit: Just reflew mission without bombing myself so maybe a SNAFU in the game.

I made a training mission in DCS Stable 2.5.5 and my F-16c on the Persian Gulf map. The target was a convoy of trucks and I was coming in to bomb them using CCIP with six pulses of mk82 pairs (12 bombs total). NT fusing and 85 foot spacing. I had a targeting pod and single external fuel tank on centerline. I was flying level wings with shallow dive when I released bombs at 4000 ft I blew up. I replayed the track and upon pickle, the bombs all rattled on the wings with some releasing and about half blowing up on my pylons. Is this a bug or something maybe I did wrong. I was in cat iii mode as well. Thanks.

Can we install open beta and stable and run one or the other or can we only have one install at one.

I'm flying the F-16C with a standard flight stick and have no problem landing though you'll need to flare the plane upon touchdown to stop.
-
I bought F16C as first DCS aircraft and it's great. Practicing flying, landing, CCIP bombing...wonderful aircraft to learn on. When did you serve? I served 89-15.

Mirage is fricking fast...good plane.

Which one should I buy now? F16 or F18?

Mmm...ham... *drool* -
Just finished flying Av-8b around fully loaded with max weight in ordinance, tpod and gun and made it 120nm with 5200 lbs fuel remaining. More than enough to blow some stuff up and go back. Big difference was I flew Hi-Lo-Hi as recommended. AV-8b is awesome but it's different enough from what I'm used to that I'm going to go with F-16c. Great plane though.
-
Trying the AV-8b during the free two-day trial and love how it flies and the engine sound (F3 button for flyby) is amazing. I flew from Kobuleti to Tbilisi-Lochini which took ~17 minutes and about 120 NM) and went from 7,200 lbs of fuel to 3,700 lbs. That's with no ordinance and without any bombing or monkeying around in the air en route. I guess learning air refueling is mandatory with the AV-8b but I still may go with F-16C...tough call.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. Sure the F/A-18 can take off and land from land-based airports/air bases but not at night or in inclement weather (easily).
-
Is the only way to land an F/A-18 at a land-based airport/airfield via VFR?
-
Doubtful. Tomcat F-14 is 2.3GB. They probably including DCS game and free space for swap files or whatever. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Pound dirt primarily.

Flew F/A-18 and F-16 during free trial and not much difference flying them though I noticed F/A-18 doesn't have ILS.
-
Errr... F16 just went 50% off + free weekend

It just went on sale on the DS store (non-Steam) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
How similar are the systems on the A-10C and the F-16C? If I learn on the A-10C can I transfer that knowledge pretty easily to the F-16C or do I have to relearn the F-16C systems?
-
That's the catch...A-10C is nearly perfect but it's a one-trick pony and way too slow (I fly A-10A). I've seen the A-10C cheap enough to just buy and fly but the F-16C is so enticing as well due to it being a true multi-role plane. Probably wind up getting the A-10C, F-16C, TM Warthog with F-16 stick and some rudders but that's a little more money than I want to spend up front so probably just A-10C for now and go from there.
-
Yeah, but I worked with and around the F-16, B-1, A-10 and some cargo planes (e.g. C-130, C-147 and C-17) so I am biased a little. The F-16C HOTAS is supposedly amazing but I just prefer these planes as my first...
-
Which rudders would be good enough for a fixed-wing aircraft?
-
Sorry I don’t think I was clear, how can I get rudder control on a thrustmaster warthog Hotas so I can retire my twist stick.
-
My current flight stick has a twist function for the rudders. Is there any way to simulate rudders on a Warthog without buying foot pedals? Also, is the TM F-16 stick any more useful than the standard TM A-10 stick or are they essentially the same and can be used universally with any aircraft without too much monkeying around?
-
I'll keep my eyes peeled and get A-10C next sale then get others later.
-
May have a good point...get A10-C now then get F-16C and AV-8b later...when on sale.

Hello. I know there are a load of these noob questions but I had to ask just to clarify a couple things. I've been authorized by my wife to get a HOTAS, head-tracker and plane for DCS so I'm nearly certain I'll get a Warthog HOTAS and HeadTrack IR (non-pro) but I'm on the fence regarding planes. I spent 26 years serving in the USAF (deployed radar and comm in support of close-air support who put warheads on foreheads) and am partial to ground-pounding so here are my thoughts: A-10C USAF ground-pounder that's fantastic and complete but painfully slow and limited in mission types. F-16C USAF multi-role aircraft that can do it all but will flying it be a little too sterile and unemotional (e.g. will F-16C fly-by-wire be satisfying or will it feel like F-15C in FC3) AV-8b USM ground-pounder that has some A2A and SEAD capabilities. Quirky, interesting plane maybe limited due to pre-release (?) I'm not looking at getting a USN plane (e.g. F-14 or F/A-18) and leaning more towards F-16C but I imagine it's like driving a Tesla which is amazing but detached from the road and engine while the A-10C and AV-8b would be like driving a muscle car with lots of "feel". I want to fly, not just blow stuff up. Thanks.

The bomb spacing will be proportional to the speed of the plane but also proportional to the time they take to fall (slant angle).
