First of all post count doesn't mean anything other than how much free time you have or how fast you can type ;) .. I joined these forums as soon as they opened and I post quite regularly and I still don't have anything near a 1000 posts. I personally always look at the content rather than the quantity of a forum members contribution to the community and I never think someone deserves more respect because of some kind of bizzare forum etiquette or bogus rank based on seniority or post count. Also if anyone is motivated into firing up the PM window to send nasty PM's then that's pretty sad and they really deserve an "I need a life" bumper sticker for sure. There's no greater waste of your time than arguing on a forum and the only time I'll enter into a heated debate is when/if the Frugal F4 fanboy's show up.. but I don't take it seriously and what can I say it's sometimes fun to poke fun at the monkey in the cage ;) . Lastly you haven't made a disgrace of yourself its just a forum for a game/ sim so don't bust a gut over it. All this could have been dealt with quite simply by doing what we usually do when it looks like someone is posting for post count sake (which is no great crime) and that is to just make a few light hearted jokes after they have posted here in the open forums. That said you're only fourteen and I can bet you're taking this way too seriously so just chill out and forget about it because IMO this argument gets placed into the "Handbags at dawn" filing cabinet :P .

Yeah butttt.. Naval Aviator's are specially trained in the art of Platinum BB shots ;). Anyway .. why did the F22 fly below the hard deck during the fight?? Maybe he knew it was going to be pretty embarrassing so he dived below 10K which means he effectively hit the ground which also means the Navy pilot BFMed him into the ground which is still a legitimate kill :D . So if the F18 pilot was reprimanded then the F22 pilot should now be flying a cargo plane full of rubber "you know what" :P .

I had the same problem when I first installed my Graphics card but after I reinstalled windows and updated to Nvidia's newest drivers it solved the problem. http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/6436/screenshot105gk4.jpg

Isn't that a little different though? Thrust vectoring allows you to roll around your velocity vector so you can be moving in a different direction to where your nose is pointing but using thrust wont just point your nose but also change your direction of flight.. Either way I don't think that type of sideways movment will have any real world advantages if things get WVR.

The "if you can see your opponent something went wrong" idea also has many real life limitations. Just trying to IFF can get you inside 15nm which means in a few seconds you'll merge with the enemy and thats not even talking about a competent opponent that may be able to successfully evade one or two missiles fired at him.

Ah whats a little altitude anyway :P .. Bug Bights Bird .. sounds good to me!! Anyway I think he did the same thing that "Viper" did in TopGun :megalol:

"superior pilot" I like the way you think  .. Yep they probably do hate that pic and they give the same arguments we've seen here i.e how many bugs it took, low PK shot etc all of which are valid of course but no one really knows what took place during that exercise and I don't think it was confirmed that the F18 pilot did break any rules .. was it? I remember some USAF pilots saying the same thing but it was refuted by the Navy guys IIR but I could be wrong. Anyway what it does show is that an F18 got close enough to an F22 to select Guns and that's cool no matter which way you cut it :P .. Superhornet all the way :pilotfly:
-
Yep ! an F18 guns kill on an F22 :D I had a link to a forum where some USN and USAF pilots were arguing over the relevancy of the kill and things got pretty heated .. damn though I cant find it right now

That's answering the question of what is the best fighter in terms of performance, but in terms of "deployability, cost, combat effectiveness etc" then I would say the F18E, especially seeing as its light years ahead of anything western forces have come up against and will come up against in the foreseeable future. Realistically by the time any adversary has anything close to the Super Bugg unmanned drones will probably be outperforming F22's. The Hornet has it all and the twin engine gives you the ability for extremely low level CAS missions where if you get one engine shot out you can still make it home .... And the hook on the tail really sets it apart from the rest ;) . And dare I mention this ;) lol
-
In terms of everything i.e cost effectiveness, range of operations, capability etc then I would say the Superhornet for sure. Everything else is just overkill. The A2A engagement hardly ever takes place and when it does its against extremely old technology with aircrews that are poorly trained and are so out numbered that the best thing they can do is to bury their jets in the sand in hope they don't get bombed. In short; as a complete package the A2A weapon system is the most unused weapon system in any modern millitaries inventory so why spend billions when an AIM120 fired from a Hornet will shoot down a Mig29 from the 1970's/80's just as effectively as one fired from an F22.. But the F18 can also land on a Carrier so IMO it wins as the best.

If anyone is sending you racist comments then they would be in violation of the terms of use they agreed to when signing up to the forum. You should just send the info you say you have to the MODs instead of publicly accusing a forum member of a pretty serious act especially when that forum member has never shown any sign of being a racist on these boards before. That said it is usually you =4c= Hajduk Veljko that cant separate our flightsim hobby from your political views and tend to take things personally or out of context when all that's being said is references to events that have taken place and not subtle digs at you or your country.

Yep that's the one. IMO its the best and most realistic skin for any aircraft in lockon.. from the weathering to the chipped paint near the nose it is a true master piece. Even close up it has a really nice metal look instead of the milky appearance that a lot of other skins have.

How many people have switched their attention to ArmA?
Cosmonaut replied to maukings's topic in Cимуляторы
I've never played it offline to be honest .. i only played half of one mission then it got bugged and my gun wouldn't show so I had to stop. I haven't tried it since the 1.05 patch but I pretty much only play online coops with ArmA and that's about it. -
How many people have switched their attention to ArmA?
Cosmonaut replied to maukings's topic in Cимуляторы
While I was getting a feel for ArmA I Hardly played Lockon but that only lasted about two or three weeks. For me I don't even understand the idea of talking about ArmA as a flighsim or the idea of purchasing ArmA for the Aircraft you can fly in it because as others have stated it is a long way from being a flightsim. However it is a very good infantry sim that really comes alive when playing coops online in a good server. The Adversarial missions like BerZerk hold or Capture the flag IMO are just pure arcade but in terms of coops you just cant beat ArmA as an FPS experience in general. Americas Army has better missions for player v player and the vehicles and other equipment are more complex and realistic to use for example changing/selecting gears and ratios in Hummers, choosing top down or direct attack when firing Javelins etc but AA is more special forces ops where the mission is over in five or ten mins and the player manipulation or control is more Qauke than simulator. Now ArmA is more about the entire battlefield with coops lasting anywhere from 1 to 3 hours and IMO is the most realistic combat of any FPS out there right now from player manipulation to targeting it is just awesome. Flightsims will always be my favorite by far but I have always enjoyed a good FPS and I have been waiting for ArmA for sometime having missed out on the whole OFP scene and I was getting tired of the bunny hopping defense honor whoring idiots in Americas Army, so ArmA was exactly what I was looking for. -
Took some screen shots while testing the engagement part of a mission I'm building :) .

I have had ArmA for a couple of months now and trust me when I say "a flightsim it aint" if you're bored with the lack of immersion in LO regarding vehicle damage then you better have a good book to hand when flying ArmA jets or you'll just fall asleep ;). There is no Avionics what so ever just a few simple gauges with an odd bar at the top of the screen which serves as your radar. You lock targets by simply pressing the "select next target" button for Air and ground targets then you just release the weapon and that's it. This just makes for an extreme arcade feel to the whole thing when flying jets and will only amuse the average flightsimer for a few minutes. Also if your PC cant run LO:FC with the settings you like then you can only expect worse from ArmA as it stresses your system out much, much more than LO:FC. And I wont even mention the FM's but I will mention that the visual models of the jets in ArmA don't even come close the aircraft in LO.. not even the A10 in that video and cockpits are like gaugeless virtual cockpits of FS2002. The game does look just like that whether its AI or people playing it looks the same but the map is way too small for jets which IMO makes that video pretty misleading becasue it wont play out like that at all when you're actually flying around. Now in terms of an FPS then it blows GR, GRAW and RS out of the water for sure. Its also better than Americas Army although for adversarial maps AA has better missions than ArmA which only offers arcade style CTF or Hold missions. However COOP in ArmA in a good server is by far the best FPS experienced I have ever had by a very long way. Jumping on little birds or BH's or Mi17's then parachuting into the conflict, gunning from armored vehicles, calling in Cobras to rocket attack Areas right in front of you all in an effort to complete one part of a huge 1 to 3 hour battle that will see you choppered around the entire map, is where ArmA just cant be beat and if you were never into FPS's then I would seriously recommend you try ArmA. I would say its like the ground sim of Lockon where you're now looking up at jets instead of looking down from one.

Su-33/Kutz Tactical Doctrine
Cosmonaut replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As always a very informative post from Alfa. I read on this forum some time ago that a Su33 took off from the carrier with a total weight of approx 30 000Kg. As has already been stated the su33 can most likely take off with a full load but realistically I doubt it would, seeing as for most missions you'd just be carrying too much fuel and probably have to dump a lot of it before landing back on the carrier. For off line missions I always leave out two A2A missiles on Pylon 4 and 9 or 5 and 8. I also never carry more than 80% fuel (7520kg) but mostly 70% (6580kg). This keeps you safely under 30 000kg and seems more realistic than 100% of everything all the time and it makes fuel management part of the mission as it would be IRL , not to mention that by the time you have to RTB you should be well with in the Max LW for the SU33 which I think is just under 25 000kg so you gotta have less than 2500 kg of fuel to land safely. -
Looks like the fly :noexpression:

Exactly my thoughts too. For me FO looks like it's in the same place it was 3 years ago so IMO we're probably 2 years away from getting something we can actually fly and 3 years before we get an aircraft that can actually shoot something off the rails. I'll probably purchase FO after the fighter part is released but that's a long way off yet, it's a huge project with a very long way to go and it will be interesting to see how it fits in with other flightsims like LO:BS, FSX, BOB and Jet Thunder.

Sorry for the belated reply I've been supper busy and haven't had much time to peruse the forums. Hmm it should work with out any problems.. the files are already 24 bit too so there's no need to convert them before using CDDSStudio to create a CDDS file with them. I've just quickly made made a CDDS file with the textures so try them and see if they work for you. You can the file here; http://media9.filewind.com/g.php?filepath=6803

Crazy designator driving me crazy
Cosmonaut replied to Karagiozi's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Sometimes I fly the designator onto the target. Once I get the column on screen I use very smooth rudder inputs to place the designator over the vehicle I want to lock up. You can also engage Alt hold for this to help you maintain a smooth approach which will allow you to consentrate on the target more. -
Alfa could give you a better more detailed answer but yes that is correct. The older .CMD files have the skins slots locked in the 3d model but the .lom files use an associated .skins file that can be edited to add more slots.

I agree totally with you on that. Its hard to imagine a more realistic ground based sim than ArmA. On the weekend I was playing an ArmA coop mission as a gunner on a Vulcan, luckily I had a good driver and I shot everything for about 50 mins .. Shilkas, Buildings, BMPs and I got really lucky when a Ka50 showed up right over our heads. I've also driven tanks, ridden motorcycles, manned the 50 on the back of a Landrover .. and none of that played out as an arcade type shootem up. However the Jets in ArmA aren't very good at all but the choppers are very good for an infantry sim.. in fact after the 1.05 patch I would say its good enough to be called a very basic Helicopter sim in regards to the FM.

If you just want the .bmp files to add to your own CDDS files then you can just use Modman to extract them similar to using winzip. From my Tut; I hope Ice doesn't mind me posting this. :noexpression: .
