You'll need to adjust a few other files, just download =FV=MAD's mod and adjust the appropriate tga files; here's a pic of all the normera files i could find that have aircraft numbers: I guess along with the normera.tga file you'd also need to adjust normera-red.tga and possibly the normera-red-2.tga. I'm not sure though but wouldn't the Zero still be visible when selecting an aircraft number of just 9? ;oops i just noticed in the pic i painted over the US markings a little  . Should have used just the paint brush instead of the Marquee tool as well.. guess I'm just too lazy :v:

I agree! .. Dont have either myself :P but CH is the best.

Yeah I thought you could just edit =FV=MAD's mod, removing the number 9 from all the nomera files he has put up for download. As long as you don't put them up for download I don't think he'd mind you making a minor adjustment for your own personal use :smilewink: .

Missle Realism (Is realism a word?)
Cosmonaut replied to obct's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Sometimes on these boards you will read some pretty bizarre comments as if the poster has actual top secret military knowledge but as Pilotasso suggested you can make an educated guess as to what the performance and parameters might be so you can approximate what would actually happen in a real life engagement. Although you then have the arm chair g-less pilot pulling off some crazy ass evasive maneuvers that real fighters might be capable of doing, but are highly unlikely to perform. So the missile might still miss even though it's tracking quite accurately but nothings perfect which is why flightsims need developing right through their entire playable life span. As for the Aim9 well I've seen footage of drones evading them at very close range and its pretty close to what you see in Lomac,... even seen an F4 appear to escape the proximity detonation just by pulling up with out using counter measures. That's no to say that the ED produced Aim9 is working perfectly but I do feel that even if we had a simulator with all the correct numbers punched in the missile performance would still be less than what you would expect in real life. Why is that? Well because we can spend as much virtual dollars as we like ruining as many fighters as we can just to figure out how to get around a certain situation and there's nothing you can really do about that unless you fly with a gun to your head and pull the trigger if you get blown out of the sky ;) . -
Question about removing skin slots
Cosmonaut replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ah good point, I didn't have this problem with the skins for Walmis's F15 that I messed with. It can be a real pain when skins share textures and even worse when you cant adjust the slots like in the A10.. arrgg -
Well we could disscuss this all day but I guess this isnt the right forum for it ;) . I will say this though; that I luv Americas Army and have played it for years, I remember when there wasn't even a Weapons Cahe SE LOL just vanilla WC heh. And I will say that for adversarial play AA beats ArmA because the Missions in AA are just plain better but coop missions in ArmA are the best FPS experience I have had and with missions lasting between 1 and 3 hours it would be impossible to play them with out respawns. But because you have to wait for pickup you move out as a second wave of reinforcements so its not the same as respawning in a 10 minute match. Lastly remember that Americas Army isn't a simulator and doesn't aim to be one either. It's main goal is a recruiting tool and part of the hearts and minds advertising for the US Army .. and everything else, including simulating real combat, is way down on the priority list of things to model accurately. This is why a lot of gaming magazines and tv shows flat out refuse to review AA. However that doesn't mean AA isn't a great sim or FPS but it is the reason why IMO it will always feel a little arcady, because its not really trying to be a complete simulator. If you do decide to get it then give it time because coming from AA I thought I had waisted my money on ArmA but after I got the controls to match AA which you can do and I found the right servers, seeing as I never play FPS offline, then it all came together.

What Su27 skin is that in the Vid?? Can you gimmy a link please? :)

ArmA is in no means perfect and it can ask a lot from some if you're experiencing bugs. However it doesn't really sell itself as being a vehicle sim and it doesn't even pretend to be a flightsim. If you purchased it for any of those two reasons then you will be completely disappointed especially on the flgihtsim front. In comparison to Americas Army I would say that AA has better missions for player v player than ArmA but that is where AA superiority ends. ArmA is miles ahead of the Quake type game play of AA where you see bunny hopping, defence honor whoring and RPK whoring. In ArmA if an RPK goes up against an M4 in a CQB situation then the M4 will win hands down. IMO the whole style of ArmA is more realistic than AA from the bullet physics to the way you manipulate the player and that sense of a huge war going on cant really be experienced with any other FPS. That's not saying that AA is a crap FPS because it really has some cool and immersive game play features but ArmA is better in a lot of ways. @ dodger42: when you get over your graphics problems then checkout a server called "KellysHeros" they have the best coops and Admins around. Nicely presented briefs and a strict rule on no N00b pilots, so you wont get a guy in a Little Bird flying you into a Shilka while trying for an Urban insertion.. well it does happen from time to time but they just kick the crap pilots. It may sound harsh but they say "Practice off line or when server is empty".

Question about removing skin slots
Cosmonaut replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'll take a guess here and say you shouldn't have a problem. When I was learning how to create slots I screwed things up pretty bad and the slot I was messing with somehow changed to an Israeli Eagle skin because my entries in the .xml file were wrong, so if you mean by "screwed up" the mission wont work then I think they will work but some skins might be a little odd. Have you tried it yet?? If the mission loads then it should work but you could always change the F15 skins in the mission or campaign to what ever F15 skins you have left before you start to play them and that should solve any problems you may have. I would alway suggest though that you not remove the slots but rather change the Name and add your own Skin to any slot you wont be using. That way most of the work is done for you and anyone else, online , using the offending skin would then have the new skin you replaced it with. Sections 5 and 6 in my tut cover this. -
reduce size but not quality picture?

Try imageshack instead.. its hassle free and you never get any issues with file size. http://www.imageshack.us/ -
reduce size but not quality picture?
Cosmonaut replied to PythonOne's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Your sig is only 14kb that's why its so pixelated.. try turnning it up to at least 40kb and it should look pretty sharp. -
reduce size but not quality picture?
Cosmonaut replied to PythonOne's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Well if you have Photoshop then its really quite easy. You just adjust the slider until you get the balance in file size and image quality you want. There is a free photo editor called Gimp I think which should be able to do the same thing as PS. -
That was a good performance but the Russian's thrust vectoring fighters would still steal the show. And the Russian pilots seem to have full control of their aircraft at all times even in the most extreme maneuvers but then again I have never flown one so how would I know ;) Air shows are one thing though and combat is a completely different idea, the F22 is the worlds best and just seeing it at an air show would be cool but in terms of crowd pleasing maneuvers then the MiG-29(OVT), SuXX etc wins hands down.

I prefer the Russian cockpit in Russian but this is a damn good way to learn the layout very fast.. I wish I would have had this when I first started flying the Su33.

IMO Coop is the best way to play ArmA online, I find adversarial missions like Hold or CTF just too boring but the online community is pretty strong so there's a lot of well populated servers to choose from for either adversarial or coop. It is worth mentioning though that you have to fish around the servers until you find a good room that suites your style of play. But once you find a server with a good admin then as an Online FPS ArmA cant be beat. @vistrel, Yeah its a pig alright but even turned right down, as I have to, it still looks pretty good IMO.

Unfortunately not but it looks cool. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=75&lid=203&ttitle=Kneeboard_for_LOMAC_F-15_and_A-10_pilots#dldetails

Yes they do.. and ED model it it better:thumbup:

Heh.. Would be cool if a couple of Typhoons escorted the IAF's Su30's into UK airspace... it would make for some pretty cool pics.
