  1. Can BS or WH do 360* field of view?
  2. Great videos, all of them. Your F1 video made me think a bit of top gun with the close flying. I was thinking, you need to do the inverted dive with an F14 and F5. :)
  3. Is that with 3 main view and 1 touch or 1 main and 3 touch?
  4. I am fine with the DCS images exported into holes in the Helios. I was just wondering if I will have to write the lua to put them there and figure out the windows multi monitor seutp, or if that is something helios will somehow do for me (hopes and crosses fingers). I have been waiting to try helios till my pit is built, but may not have the time since its ending very soon. I need to find a deal on more Touchscreens like my samsung ld220z I got for $149 refurbished. I need one with vesa mounts on the back for the side monitors though. Does running Helios on a second graphics card have the same FPS hit in DCS as using a second card in DCS for exported MFCDs?
  5. Airdog, Paul, or Flim: Are the MFCD exported to holes in the Helios display? If so, is that done on the users part or is it part of the profile? I assume they are clickable in the helios window. I hope some one can come up with a way to not render the cockpit MFDs but still have the images in the exported MFDs. Must be a hit to FPS to render the main, and 2 sets of MFDs.
  6. Absolutely amazing and completed in less than a year!!!! I wish I had the skills.
  7. You said people who bash stuff they don't own are envious. Pretty sure my reading comprehension skills were adequate for that one sentence. I simply used an analogy that even though I do not own a yugo, I can still call them crap and not be jealous. Trust me, I drive a chevette, I know a quality vehicle when I see one. I used an analogy to rebuke your comment, then I made a similar baseless comment directed at people who defend their purchases. Think the guy with a Ferrari defends his purchase when someone calls it worthless? He doesnt have to because Ferrari has been around and proved its value. The WH has not yet. I can not afford a WH because I am building other parts of a pit. I am getting touchscreens and computer upgrades to run more monitors. I wish I could afford to dump $600 on a WH setup and pedals, but would rather spend the money I have on upgrading my sim experience further, not tweaking what I already have. Not trying to have an epeen contest, my 2 daughters are way more important than any sim components and I am plenty happy with what I have. If a WH was available for the price of the 940, I would get it. Its twice as much and has no pedals. I sure hope its better for the price, but not sure how you can think its twice as good. I got my 940 like 6 months ago. I do not buy launch items for the reasons you had. I do not NEED to be the first on the block to show off my new joystick. My 940 has been pretty much perfect for me. :drink: for WynnTTr :drink: for JaseGill
  8. Basic is probably a bit of an understatement :) Its seems more like a flying camera. Want to go left, push left. Never noticed any real momentum or gravity in any of those videos. Nice to hear that an engine maker is making a game to prove how their software can work. Like Crysis. Though that was an amazing game with an amazing game engine in my eyes when it came out. If I can build a plane and fly it around, I can envision many fun hours.
  9. Hope not, I have not even tried it yet. Downloaded a couple weeks ago, but trying to finish my pit construction first. Cant really feel like I am in a pit with side by side monitors. Is there a readme file on how to do the networked display?

    Power Lines

Did you call the telephony and power companies to send a crew out to string the the line up? I did not even know we could put in power lines.
  11. That video looks very good. Transitions do appear seamless. I could not tell when the tress became individual, but the camera was also panning all over at times when I thought it would be transitioning to the more detailed trees. Wonder how much processing power is needed. They were showing that on a 460gtx with quad core. If it takes that much power just for the terrain, we are a long way off from having something that nice in a flight sim unfortunately.
  12. $300 is a bit steep. OP, what is your cooling? Water or some below ambient chiller?
  13. Article says user programmable. Does that mean on the fly? If so, I would imaging a program like DCS being able to configure the cores to best suit its needs. Still the DCS engine would need to be written to take advantage. Other software like 3d modeling would be able to program the cores and cut rendering times down. I always love scientists. "...but their processing power is huge while their energy consumption is very small because they are so much quicker - so they are also a greener option." Really? Yeah, it works quicker so that would obviously mean its greener and uses less energy. Scientists are so smart yet so naive.
  14. Yugos are piles of crap. I do not envy anyone who has one. Endlessly defending something is the first sign of regret. :D I will have to try my issue again, but I was pretty sure my loadout was symmetrical.
  15. I absolutely HATE the section after the second Hairpin in the back section. After the long straight with the double chicane you come to the first hairpin. Then rocket down the much narrower slightly curved straight to the second hairpin. Also, braking into that turn is trick as well. Since it has a slight jog just when you need to be at the hardest braking point. Anyway, from there on I am terrible to the start line. Though there is a very nice cut through cheat at the last turn. Saves a good couple seconds. Same with the first braking corner. Take it wide and its all asphalt. Not that I cheat. I think of it as an equalizer since no matter how hard I smack into an AI in the middle of a corner, he does not go off track. But if they breathe on me in the same situation I am against the barrier.
  16. The plane should fly till it runs out of gas without initial contact from user. At least that is what I have found. The moment you touch any button on the HOTAS it becomes live.
  17. Yeah, one was designed in America and built in china. Does this thing really need canards? I thought that was a fad. Though the wing is very far back I guess. Maybe they should have just made it a delta wing. Would hate to be flying that thing if the canard servos fail. That big butt will stay aloft as the nose aims at the ground.
  18. I have not played in a while, but I would get a nasty pull to the left when I locked the nose wheel during a takeoff. This was when goofing off. I would lock the wheel after just starting the roll. The moment I locked it would pull left and off the runway withing a couple hundred feet at most. Then if I unlocked the wheel I could get it straight again. Then locking would immediately pull it left. When I got above the 70IAS I could counter with enough rudder, but the plane would never roll straight. Landing was no issue. Would land straight and when disengaging the lock I could taxi in just fine. I just thought it was a bug and known about but I am pretty sure it happened in at least the first two Beta. I have not played B3 much as I want to wait till release to really get back into the sim. No reason to ruin all the excitement with the inherent flawed beta issues. Weird that you guys see the exact opposite. I could lock and unlock from outside view and visually watch the wheel turn at least 5 degrees. When I would lock it the wheel would turn. Unlock and it would go back to straight. This is stopped on a runway launch game without ever touching anything.
  19. Word advice. PC sims are not for the plug in and go crowd. If that is all you can handle, you need to go check out the Ace Combat or Hawx series. My G940 works beautifully in both DCS Modules. The default setup is pretty pathetic, I will agree on that though. There is what, 5 main HOTAS setups used and DCS can not program them as a somewhat useable profile in the game.
  20. Almost looks like an effect you somehow check marked. The transitions go to full screen then back to the black box after.
  21. Yes, quite impressive, but still better suited for low level flight not where most A2A combat occurs. Also, I have not seen their transition on my computer when flying at mach 1 either. Just their videos showing how amazing their own product is. :smilewink:
  22. If you have a FX6800 05 then you are way better off than most in this forum. The older FX6800-01e only had a 512mb 4850 and would be lacking in the video department, but still capable of playing at reduced quality. The newer FX6800 05 has a 4870x2 and should do very well with max graphics.
  23. Did you install? Cut my load times in half I think. I would have loved half the 350z variants and 1/4 of the skylines and no crap damage model in exchange for more premium cars. Prius is a premium, but not a Veyron. I got golds on the first license and got a crap car, so did not care about the rest and just passed them. Good enough for me.
  24. From what I read, FPS hit is from the DCS engine possibly. It likes to only have a single card video output. Multiple cards can cause FPS problems.
  25. No idea how those airliners tires dont rip off on those landings. My BS tires do when I am just a bit out of whack on my landings. I use the OP technique with much success. Crew chief should be happy and not complain. In today's world economies he is lucky to have a job. Edit, oops wrong thread. Oh well.
