Funny thing is that the apache are much weaker than kiowas in A10. At least they were in beta 2 when I built a mission. Hind always slaughtered the Apache, but the kiowas flew around looking like swiss cheese. They even took SAMs at close range (not direct impact). Apache never made it through mission, kiowas did. As for the engines, turbines can function with bent blades. This is from my experience with turbos which are similar to jet turbines. I have seen some pretty messed up turbos which have injested FOD. They obviously do not work at 100%, but they do not just cease working. I doubt a single round could kill a ka50 engine unless it was a magic bullet.

So the next module is the --. Is that the USAF variant or a different one? :D

The thickness of the door glass seems much thicker than the sheet metal on the engine covers. And its bullet proof plexi.

Total crap. Kidding of course. You could easily make a slide out PC tray for the front of the unit in the base. Put a big wall in the center of the base to block any air pressure from the sub section. PC would just slide into the front of the base on its rack. Could easily have fans bringing air in one side and out the other side. The PC would be constructed on the tray, not in a prebuilt case. Mount the motherboard tray on rubber mounts to the slide out tray. Will isolate vibrations from Sub. Would basically be like a drawer in the front of the unit. Looking at your skills, I am sure you can make it happen.

I would make it as short as possible. No need to fly all the way to a range and back. Simply flying a take off and landing should be enough. If you want to add an exploding object during the takeoff roll, that should show a big impact on FPS. I would gladly make a track, but my hotas is unhooked as I am building a pit at the moment.

Henchman specifically mentioned 6 vihkrs to kill an apache. Never mentioned how many to kill a hind. If his missiles exploded and did not fly past the apache, there should have been shrapnel. And 6 missiles worth of shrapnel should easily bring down any apache. Yuya, from those pictures, it does not appear to have armor on Ka50 engine covers. If there is any armor, it looks to be pretty thin.

Any track will be fine. Start from ground, take off circle and land. Should be good enough to get a benchmark. Min and max runs would give good results for everyone to base upgrades off of.

The ball could be suspended on roller bearings like old mouse balls. Then the ability to tighten the pressure on the bearings would give more or less tightness to the stick. The ball should be suspended not on a pivot. Also, if you add motors to the roller bearings you can have FFB as well.

I would like to see a single track recorded by anyone and then used as the benchmark. Everyone downloads that trk file and plays it back on their system at the same settings and posts the results from FRAPS. This would give a great idea on how different hardware affects our DCS experience. No one has to fly the jet so all the hardware load will be using the same game variables and only the Hardware will be changed.

If you are using Target, remove all the in game mapping for the joysticks. That has been the recommendation on here for others with problems. I think only the joystick axis are mapped and the fire buttons maybe.

Not sure. My G940 has been automatically detected every time I plug it in. Weird that the buttons are programmable but not the axis.

Do not need the stick to extend beyond bottom of "ball". Just have the laser at the bottom point of ball. A few mm below the sensor would be the cup. Actually, in that instance it does not even need to have the laser at the bottom. It could be on the back, front, or anywhere else.

Make sure your HDD is the first boot priority. Sometimes if you have CD rom as first boot device, it will loop. Not sure, but could be a cause.

DIY have no warranty. Biggest draw back. You only have an RMA option on the individual parts. I have read about many different motherboards doing the start stop start problem over the years. Not sure what causes it though. Wait, you got a new mobo and CPU right? If so you need to reinstall windows with correct motherboard drivers.

Very interested in some sort of benchmark all could use. Is there a way we can do some sort of standardized benchmark? If someone posts a track could everyone play said track and report FPS on it as a sort of benchmark? I dont know if there is a way to report FPS min,avg,max from DCS or it would be something where you have to watch the top left corner. I am wondering if I get an 1100t, 2500k, or wait for Bulldozer. 2500k is going to be dirt dirt cheap at microcenter by my house, but the 1100t stacks up pretty well to it. Throw overclocking into the mix and the 2500k destroys the AMD abilities though. A 2500k at 4.7ghz on air is sooooooo tempting this weekend. Hard to pass up at $179. My user account is admin on my computer. I have never "run as admin" when opening any DCS product. A laptop without a dedicated video card, is not going to be able to run DCS. Well, if you can get to run it will be a slide show even at the lowest settings possible. Read system requirements completely before purchasing any PC game. Usually you want to be near the recommended system specs for the most enjoyable experience.

Do you have closer shots walker? Would like to see what your plex frame is doing. Would making it black make it seem more finished? Very awesome setup indeed. You have had that for some time as well. Very impressive. What were the LEDs for you mentioned?

Some good flying. Good control over the collective. Landing was a bit uh, rough though. :)

There are many people with none of your problems. I have not faced apaches. I have taken down Mi-24s with only guns. My helo flies perfectly with the trimmer. Took me a long time to get anywhere near being combat effective in the BS. Keep practicing, things will get easier.

Midwest: MFDs will still need to be exported via lua scripting in DCS. Helios is displayed over top of anything you want. Its the top top layer of windows basically. You can over lay it on top of your main cockpit view if you wanted. At least that is how I understood it. I have not tried that of course.

I know you built it, but what I meant is do you have red units around it? If you have more red than blue, it will be a red FARP even if you called it a blue farp when you created it.

So you have a logitech profile that is blank? Why not just shut down the logitech software. Its not needed if you are using the in game mapping.
