Okay, so the a/c part is basically built from military money. So to bring that to consumers they would have plenty of resources to build a better game world. They have basically nothing to spend on the a/c since the military contract paid for that. Take out a few top secret functions and you have a civilian game. Now all that is needed is to add the game world. If you compare it to the a/c quality, you have to admit it appears to have been done in a weekend. I know it takes much more work, but in comparison to the excellent a/c quality its lacking for sure.

Flip the switch below master arm to manual. Should fire no matter if you are in range or not. On auto the computer must come up with a firing solution and I have noticed it sometimes doesn't for some odd reason. Also, try turning laser off and back on.

Those are just demonstration videos. I am sure there is nothing outside the immediate area with any geometry. Though I would absolutely love to see BS and A10 using that type of scenery.

Yeah, but whatever can blow off an entire wing would surely have more collateral. Though can not see the bottom of the plane. I have lost rear stab and as stated by others, its much harder to control than simply loosing an entire wing.

The 940 is trash. Blah blah blah. Not sure what else I could dream my 940 could do. It takes my flight inputs and translates them to the game. I do not use profiles, just use in game mapping with great success. I agree, none are perfect so the constant fanboism about which is the one someone should buy is annoying. That is what I was mocking. All HOTAS have the support threads about how to fix such and such, and make something better. The $500 WH is no different.

Wait a minute. So the Warthog is not perfect as many would have had us believe at release? My "inferior" g940 has never bricked, and works as it should. Am I missing something that makes the WH worth double the money?

Instant gratification is why people play games like ArmA, COD, Hawx, and the other arcade games. They do not want to learn to have fun. That is fine for people with that mentality. I like customizing stuff, and learning how it works.

Seems people like to speculate the next module based on world wide usage. Seems we could have a commanche sim just as soon as we could have a f22 sim.

I would like to know how a military justified contracting a Black Shark sim for a wiki reported 15 units produced in the world and 10 Ka52 through 2006.

I see a decade as a very lofty goal and only possible in a MP environment. The amount of AI programing to have smart enemies in the sky, or infantry, or armor would be so insane that you would need either 24 core threading, or would have to wait for the game to pause and load the next engine. Especially if you want realistic study sim interfaces for each mode. Say you crash land. Jump out and want to be in a crysis mode. No way the engine you were just using would still work. Would need to start a new physics and AI engine for close quarters combat. Graphics would need to scale up for close detail as well. Maybe a tree could have multiple maps available. For ground mode, it could use super high res maps, and for sky mode it could use low res maps. But maps only get you so far. A box building with an amazing bump map and texture map, still only looks good from a certain distance and angle. I think we have more than a decade to wait for seamless transitions between flying, FPS, and armor especially in a single player environment. At least if you want realistic controls. Only thing close to realistic in FPS games are the environments. Player movements and shooting is so very arcade. No soldier runs full speed at a bad guy and dives behind cover through gunfire. No soldier heals by sitting behind a tree or by eating a candy bar either. Look at FPS games like ArmA. They are FPS foremost and the flight dynamics are trash. Look at A10. Its flight sim foremost and the FPS dynamics are trash. I have the hardest time getting my pilot to walk where I want him to, I could not even imagine if I had to shoot an enemy.

We can all dream. I would love to see that as well.

Unless you are a benchmarker AMD is plenty capable of competing with intel in gaming. Yes, intel obviously has the edge, but it is a very small real world difference. A few FPS is likely the difference in equal systems. But yeah, if you are buying right now, a 2500k system is about $350 for mobo and 4gb ram on top of the 2500k. Or to compete with it you would need an 1100t system. Last I checked the 1100t was $269. A decent mobo and 4gb ram will put you around $400+. This is not acceptable as the 1100t is crushed by the 2500k in most situations. Then add in OC ability and the 2500k can easily hit 4.5ghz where the 1100t is hard pressed to go over 4ghz. From reviews it looks like it takes a 4ghz 1100t to match a stock 2500k. So, when you OC, there is just no chance for the AMD. Microcenter still has the 2500k for $179 with combo deal including p8p67 for $299. 1100t really needs to be discounted below $200 to compete. Tax return is my upgrade time and I hope BD makes a strong showing as I would love to return to AMD as well. All my other systems are AMD for price since their performance was not that important. HTPC and my wifes build. For my gaming computer I would love to have an AMD as well if they can bring something to the table.

Yup, start with 1 stick of ram, and VC and OS HDD. If it does not boot on first try, place ram in different slot until all slots have been tried. If it does boot on first try, still change ram slots. This will eliminate that ram stick as a problem, and verify any slot problems.

Yeah, playback is annoying erratic, but hopefully smooths out in the retail version. I had a good 15 minute mission and watched the replay die in the first 45 seconds. Did not save the replay first, so its gone I guess. I can not remember as many errors in my BS replays.

I believe many good mods were implemented in the 1.02 update. The helmet sight fix is a must have but it will break playback ability.

Would be nice if ED could update the Ka50 to Ka52. Not sure if AI could perform the RIO duties or not though.

I printed it at 8.5x11 as well, but could not do 2 sided, so it is in 2x 3" 3 ring binders. Not the most handy for during flight. Need to buy the printed version finally.
