Kind Regards, Migo

More good advice there and I am glad not to be the only one who ran into this problem. Another factor which I didn't take into account until now was weight. I created the Hornet in my practice mission with a weight of 37k pounds and changed this to be around 30k now. It's way different as I am able to fly the base leg with 130 knots instead of 150-170 as before.

I appreciate all the advice. I just watched the Hornet pattern landing video from Wags. His distance is 1.5nm when mid-downwind and mine is 1.0nm most of the time. So I have to figure out how to fly the crosswind differently. I think am already pretty precise with flying with Gs of 1% of my speed but something must be off though. Update: Just flew the crosswind a bit differently which set me up 1.2nm abeam the runway and I could land just fine with a ~30° bank angle.

Hey Zyll, thanks for the reply. Yes, I am reading the markers like that. I know it needs a lot of practice to get the pattern down, but the thing is that I don't have a clue what I am currently doing wrong. I think I got all the factors down like speed, altitude, Gs, AoA with which I was struggling in the beginning.

Hey guys, I've been practicing the overhead pattern for a few days now and am getting more and more comfortable with it. The only thing that's giving me a headache is that I overshoot the angle to the runway on the base leg when having a 30° bank angle. I am flying the crosswind leg with Gs of 1% of speed, so I should be fine there. I only manage to get the base leg runway angle right when doing a 35-45° bank. What could I be doing wrong? I attached a short track in case someone is willing to analyze one of my landings. overhead_overshoot.trk

Cannot activate modules after hardware change

Alright, running the reg-files for the two modules did the trick. -

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a try. -
FPS difference when going from 4Ghz to 5Ghz
Migo replied to Migo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just upgraded my hardware. I can't do a lot of comparisons right now, because some of my modules have activation problems. What I can say thus far is that my fps on the Hornet cold start training mission have risen from 25fps to solid 40fps. I was worried about not seeing a performance improvement, but the upgrade was definately worth it. -
I just upgraded my hardware and now DCS is showing me the activation dialogs for the A10c and FC3 modules. My serial numbers are already filled out when the dialog opens and when I confirm the activation DCS shows me that I have a few activations left. DCS then starts with the main menu but the activation dialogs are still sitting in the background. Once I restart DCS the dialogs pop up again. When I try to start an A10c mission I only see the map and cannot fly the plane. This is only happening with those 2 modules. The hornet is working fine for example.

I had ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI mainboards. As I had the least problems with Gigabyte I am only using those for a couple of years now.

FPS difference when going from 4Ghz to 5Ghz
Migo replied to Migo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I see toutenglisse. So it's not my CPU but a lot of F/A-18 in the cold start mission. I nevertheless ordered a 9600k now and will post my general fps increase once I have DCS running with 5Ghz . -
FPS difference when going from 4Ghz to 5Ghz
Migo replied to Migo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Like I said, I get 25fps even when using the lowest settings. Can you tell me how much fps you are getting in the Hornet cold start training mission? Would help me a lot to have some values to compare to. EDIT: I turned on some performance tracking and my 4670k is at 80% load while my 2080ti is at around 50%. -
FPS difference when going from 4Ghz to 5Ghz
Migo replied to Migo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Okay, so I did some more testing and even with all settings on low and a PD of 0.5 I am getting around ~25fps. How much fps are you guys getting there? To me it looks like the CPU because it doesn't matter what settings I am using. -
FPS difference when going from 4Ghz to 5Ghz

That's strange as I am getting the same FPS no matter if I set a PD of 0.5 or 1.8. Anyway yes, I will do some more testing and come back. -

It's the official Hornet cold start tutorial from ED. I also forgot to mention that I am running it in VR. -
Hey guys, I'm wondering if I should upgrade my CPU from an 4670k @ 4.0Ghz to an 9600k @ 5.0Ghz. I know this is a lot to ask but could someone of you who runs a modern Intel CPU at 5Ghz temporarily set it to 4Ghz and post the FPS difference here? Of course this only makes sense in a DCS situation where the CPU is the bottleneck. For me this would be the Hornet cold start tutorial. I'm getting ~25fps there when I launch that mission no matter what settings I am choosing and despite of a 2080ti. Thanks in advance.

[NO BUG] Controls on the Hornet's joystick are not working
Migo replied to Migo's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Alright, thanks for clearing that up. -
[NO BUG] Controls on the Hornet's joystick are not working
Migo replied to Migo's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I didn't mean them to be clickable, but to have visual feedback. Like say when u press the trigger on your joystick the virtual trigger in the game will also be pressed. The A10C has that feature. -
[NO BUG] Controls on the Hornet's joystick are not working
Migo replied to Migo's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Thanks for the quick reply norbot. I just did some more testing and found the gun etc. actually working now. The Hornet's virtual joystick isn't interactive, is it? When I trim the Warthog I can see the trim hat moving on the virtual stick, but not with the Hornet. That made me think the commands weren't working at all. -
Hey everyone, I just wanted to fly my first mission in the Hornet and unfortunately none of the controls that are located on the Hornet's joystick are working for me. First I thought this would be a problem with my TM Hotas Warthog stick, but I disconnected it and even with the keyboard I am not able to do anything that's on the joystick like fire the cannon or trim the plane. Yes I can pitch and roll the plane, but that's it. Flying in the Warthog, or using switches on the throttle or cockpit goes without a problem. Any suggestions on how to solve this are much appreciated.

1060GTX 3Gb or 6Gb : actual DCS benchmarks ?
Migo replied to kobalt_'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Go with the 6GB version. It doesn't cost much more and I think you'll really benefit from it as my DCS is using up to 4GB VRAM of my 1060 most of the time. -
[RESOLVED]Problems with home Internet after last patch..
Migo replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
I had the same problem back in the day with other games. My router detected the incoming game traffic as a udp flood and cut off the internet. jcomm maybe have a look in the logs of your router.
