  1. What was the recommended connection speed for your server?
  2. Pure Fud? Take a look there: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9839 So, do the math yourself ...
  3. Shouldn't one expect this stupid computers/games to handle the needed settings themselves? Why bother the user/player with this kind of stuff?
  4. What is the uplink speed of the server?
  5. And that is exactly the point. The answer to the question depends on your preferences and what you expect from the sim. The influence from the community - well, the people we hear about on internet - isn't that big if it comes to fundamental changes like DC etc. Good if someone (like Swingkid http://lockoncampaign.com:8811/board/index.php?a=forum&f=11) is working something out, but don't expect too much enthusiasm from the developers. Take the sim as it is and hope that you'll like future addons/extensions. The other side of the medal is the (re)playability of the sim. You can play F4 all the time, you have new theaters, modified campaigns etc, if you like the sim and the concept behind it. F4 delivers a "dynamic universe" to the player: start/load the campaign and the clock starts ticking, the ATO is developed, based on what happened so far - if a SAM site couldn't be destroyed, a new package might be generated. All F-16's might be flown by humans or AI, you can even join a server and "push away" and AI pilot from a flight airborne. If you like flying online, there is no difference (design wise) for single missions or coop's. If you don't have enough humans to man the planes, you fly with AI pilots. The concept behind IL-2/DCG is this: single missions are generated by the campaign engine, results (and ranks, kills etc) are tracked and have an effect on the next mission. A document about the "inner workings" can be found there: http://www.lowengrin.com/news.php Destroyed units, for example, have a probability to "respawn" at a supply area and can be moved to the front by transport. In the end it all depends on your preferences if you "need" a DC or not and F4's system is of course not the one and only possible implementation. Fact is it would be nice to have a DC (of any kind), but i think it's not realistic at the moment. I would be happy if one could play missions/coop online and AI pilots fly the plane if not enough humans join. Now each flight must be designed as "client" in the mission and will not spawn if nobody joins. This concept is REALLY bad, but can't be changed as it is implemented deep, deep in the code. I'm still wondering how somebody can design something like that in the beginning?! I mean F4, Jane's F/A-18 and IL-2 have it. Hwg, would be fun to fly online on the big servers against all the "Ai bots".
  6. Sure it was and the computer in the lunar module were less capable than an Apple ][ on 1 MHz (yes, thats mega-, not gigahertz). About the AI: where is the advancement compared to the Flanker series? Flanker and Lockon are uunder development for how many years? Anyone got the Flanker 1.0 release date? The AI should be clever and tricky now, or not? About the DC: IMHO the current engine can't handle something like a F4 campaign. Should'nt be a problem, think of something else, like a mission generator with only a few active units and tracked results. We see such a system in IL-2 (DGen, DCG). The problem is that there is no dedicated, stand alone Lockon server to run this sort of campaign and the required upload is way too high, IMHO. I can host a F4 campaign for 3 clients, but try hosting a Lockon mission with 20 units, 3 sams and 15 planes for 2 clients on a 1024/128 DSL line. The game becomes unplayable. On the other hand there are only 50 pilots flying on HyperLobby and online play wasn't highest priority anyway, so it really doesn't matter at all. But the graphics are great!
  7. Well, this leaves some room for speculation. The patch should be out within 2 or 3 months, maybe within weeks. The 1.2 addon is said to be out December 2005 (optimistic) or maybe December 2006? If "Tank Killers" will be based on the LockOn engine/environment, it's development might start some time before 1.2 release. Remember how often we've heard what small company ED is (most of the time when we wanted to see new stuff implemented). Ok, let's plan the release for ... December 2007. Now they plan a complete new sim, superior to F4. How much time does this take? 4-5 years, and if they start in 2006 we might see "something" in 2010/2011. Ok, keep on dreaming about incredible AI and dynamic campaigns ...
  8. Please provide a reference for that - and the other part. Edit: Please forget it - let's do not not hijack this thread ;-)
  9. Of course NOT - but your "Empirical data" is based on engagements against weak adversaries. When have the US faught a strong opponent lateley?
  10. How about China with all their Su-27 invading Taiwan - defended by US-planes - to get more "Empirical data"?
  11. Hm, does he mean the total number of chaff/flare or the quantity you can deploy with one keypress/button press? I know you have 4 separate programs in the F-16, but can you change the total number of chaff/flare? If yes, who would like to play such a sim online/BVR?
  12. Read there: http://www.verbalass.com/dedmac/
  13. Our squad was waiting for FC 1.1 and - now that our CDs have arrived - we will continue our training/flying.
  14. Ok, Han posted on 11.05. that CD sales will start in a week, SimWare set the release date to 17.05., then Wags comes in to tell the CD version has already been shipped to vendors and SimWare set the release date back to 12.05. I think the answers to your questions depend on whom you ask, I'll suggest you start with Kermit from the Muppet Show.
  15. http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=1338 Availability was 17-May-2005, now 12.05. again.
  16. http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=006965;p=1#000010 http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=006965;p=1#000012 But - as usual - no promises! Official, from the developers? Hwg, in which universe do you live?
  17. I'm curious when they'll deliver. Simware and Naturalpoint announced the 12th of May: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=007002;p=1#000009 http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=1338 But - as always - no promises!
  18. Great! Stormin said it's time to move on and ED had a contract for one Lock-On addon in the West. Sooo ... will there be a patch or a new game, ehh sim?
  19. It's surprising that none - so my guess - of the testers saw/reported the stuttering issue. Maybe because they were testing a version w/o StarForce? On the other hand, IF someone reported the issue and it didn't get fixed, well .... nah, i don't think ED would do that ...
  20. What about friendly SAM sites?
  21. Today i was flying on a 1.02 server and got shot down twice in a row by friendly air defense. Is this bug fixed in 1.1 MP?
  22. http://www.cyberwalker.net/features/future-chips.shtml Even if only half of that is truth, it will be very fast ...
  23. Look there,please: http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=1338

  25. No offence, but YOU are concerned about security and want me/us to load and run an EXE from a russian web-site? Nah, come on, is this a test for n00b admins or what?
