  1. I really like Say2Play Its very very easy to use.
  2. Cat 101st are you able to use those things online. I was able to get my shkval working fine too on single player. Multi stretched the screen out and would not display it properly. I could not choose aircraft or even spawn.
  3. Mustard you know you have to enable that option in the Blackshark menu right? Hope that helps.
  4. I seriously need help! I have a 2 monitor setup. One is on a 19 inch Dell LCD, the other is on a (I'm Guessing) 15 inch VeiwSonic CRT. This is my problem. When I play single player only the loading screen is messed up but the menu screen, cockpit and the shkval look fine. However when I go into multiplayer the screen is stretched out and the monitor does not display all of the menu screen. It seems to cut off the top and bottom. So when I join a server I can't pick most aircraft and I cannot spawn. I am using an nvidia graphics card (Nvidia 8600GT 512 GDDR3) in DualView mode. Options lua ["graphics"] = { ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "shkval+camera", ["color"] = "32", ["heatBlr"] = 0, ["scenes"] = "medium", ["water"] = 2, ["fullScreen"] = false, ["visibRange"] = "Medium", ["aspect"] = 1.25, ["textures"] = 1, ["shadows"] = 2, ["effects"] = 3, ["width"] = 2080, ["lights"] = 2, ["height"] = 1024, ["civTraffic"] = 1, ["resolution"] = "1280x1024", ["haze"] = 1, }, -- end of ["graphics"] shkval+camera lua _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Shkval+Camera'); Description = 'Shkval on the left monitor, camera on the right'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1280; height = 1024; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.25; } } Shkval = { x = 1280; y = 0; width = 800; height = 600; }
  5. Is there a way to get the A-10 tv screen on a seperate monitor? If you know how can you post a step by step instruction on how to do it? Thank you.
  6. Ummm no. Putting on an HD helmet doesnt work. If your THAT intrested try an eMagin Z800 http://3dvisor.com/. It cost $1799 USD and has 360 degree tracking (6DoF), stereo vision, headphones and a mic, everything you asked for. It does'nt work for this simple reason. It blinds you to the rest of the world. You can't see your keyboard, your hotas, your mouse, or simpit controls if you have one. I used to think this was the greatest thing ever but after alot of thought TrackIR really is the way to go. Be patient I think when the price drops on those curved screens it will eliminate alot of the diorientation some people experience while using TrackIR. Just my thoughts. If this helped you can you add to my rep please im drowning here.
  7. There are several advantages to being in a squad. It best to fly in at least pairs. This for me works kind of like a spotter/sniper set up since we only have single person cockpits. One scans for targets the other looks for targets and threats. After the sniper goes winchester they switch. This keeps two people from shooting at the same target. If you don't fly in a squad at least have a friend fly with you that you play alot with that way your "in sync". Another thing about a squadron is they usually have operational (the aircraft systems) and tactical (practical combat) experience to share. They also usually have some type of training regiment. My squad (http://www.104thphoenix.com/) offers an excellent training course (wich I am taking now). They can also expose you to new flying techniques and styles. This can expand your skill base. The main advantage at least for me is this, if you have established protocol that everyone draws from and everything is organized by a set procedure then its alot easier to work as one. Its also great to get used to working in conjunction with other kinds of aircraft.
  8. I know you were kidding. But you know what? I think netflix on the abris would be pretty awsome. But not YouTube. I have no doubt someone will come out with some kind of mod for the abris sooner or later (after all I have heard pacman, windows media player, youtube, and a few other ideas for the abris).
  9. Lol average pilot your killing me. HA HA HA. I play with a Microsoft Sidewinder FF2 and have not had a bit of problem with it since the day I bought it. That was years ago. (9 I think). I hear good things about CH products. I have heard bad things about the X65 (also I don't think this stick would work for Helo that well anyway). Thrustmaster is releasing an A-10 stick that sounds promising.
  10. Wags clarified it for you cctoide. He is the producer for the game. Since the Warthog is better known then the BS he may have wanted to put the model on there so people knew what kind it was. Plus they refine as they go and BS was first generation. Wags can you please clarify if A-10C is more GPU dependent because thats what I am hearing at the rumor mill. Also I am so happy that you are so involved with the community. I really feel like I have a connection to the game and that we are actually heard. Thank you for that. That said I have a question. In the future I am sure there will be many many DCS titles. What happens when we have to patch them. Are we going to have to download 6 patches? Are you going to release a shotgun patch (it spreads out and hits all of them). Are they all going to share a source where we need only one? Anxious to hear from you Wags take care.
  11. In my experience Heading Hold keeps the Helo from wanting to drift (i.e. sideslip) off course, maybee I am wrong but that seems to be the effect it has for me. Notice if you have it on and have a trim set the helo will want to go toward it even at an angle (It wants to fly at an angle causing you to fight to turn it). Perhaps one of these other guys can explain it better. Autoturn To Target (ATT) makes your heading center with the piper. I have never used it outside of hover. It makes the helo chase it kind of like it chases the diamond. Go into a hover and activate your vickers and just slew the piper around. See what happens? The helo chases it around, You can actually turn your helicopter just by slewing your piper and not even touching the cyclic. I think I answered your question if not tell me and I'll try agian. By the way did anybody watch my track? I'm open for technique critique. If needed I will make a track and demonstrate ATT for you, just ask. I need to leave so it will be later tonight before I can pose one though (about 11pm CST).
  12. What Avilator said
  13. Crazy Trimming Hi pingo. I decided to include another track to show our very different flying styles. I was just kind of playing around in the city to show how I trim the helo. The flight was'nt planed so It is kind of all over the place. I topped it off with a super fast landing (I usually go for more like 60 or so though I think 80 is recommended), though it could have been cleaner but, ya know it was pretty fast so..... I do think I may adopt some of your technique though. Props to you friend for introducing me to new techniques. Now if I could just get Frazer's techniques................. lol CrazyTrimming.trk
  14. Right pingo I see where your coming from. Just in my experience most people that fight the controls do it because the helo AP is trying to follow the set trim point and there trying to turn it away from it. So you got the helo and the pilot fighting with each other. We definately have different flying styles but I give you props you really seemed in control of your Helo.
  15. Holding down the lock button and slewing off target is the method I use.
  16. pingo, let me start by saying that was great flying. That said it was low speed (from what I saw of it) and did not help bigdog4215 with the concept of trimming. It was good though.
  17. Trim In this video I set a variety of trim's. I went into hover and yawed the helicopter so you can see how it chases the diamond. Then I took some turns without trimming so you can see how it affects the copter, notice the sideslip. Then I trimmed out one last time at the very end. You were hitting trim, changeing direction, hitting trim, changing direction. If you just hold trim down until you level out in your new heading you won't have to fight it. Also when you go into auto hover get as close as you can to hover (aim for about 15 to 10) hit autohover and reset trim and let the chopper do the work. Don't even touch the stick it will take care of it by itself. You may have to hit reset trim one more time to get to a perfect 000. Apologies Conuk Trim.trk
  18. Ha ha its no issue at all friend. Ok I'll post a track. I'll have one in a few.
  19. I don't really see the point of posting a track. It seems like your calling me out, or telling me to put up or shut up.
  20. bigdog4215 I saw several problems with your flight. First off your flying really high. Helo's usually stay pretty low. Your hitting over 1000 and should never hit over say maybee 200, your just asking to get shot down. Second off your flying with 2 of your auto pilot chanels off(though they are the less priority ones). Third your fighting your own trim. See that diamond at the top of your HUD, your helicopter WANTS to point that direction. Thats why you feel like your fighting to stay turned. Your stick may be to the left but the little diamond is to the right. The helo WANTS to return to the diamond, so when you release your stick its going to chase after the diamond. Put the diamond on the heading you want with the trim button and let the helo do the work. Hit the trim button while changing headings and watch what the diamond does. Also dont forget you can hit RCTRL ENTER to bring up Controls Depiction. That way you know where your rudder is set. I play on the 104th server about everynight starting at 1045pm CST during the week. I play on and off on Saturday and Sunday. I will work with you everyday if you want till you are satisfied with your flying ability or until I feel I can't offer anything further (you match my skill level or exceed it).
  21. Well this should push back, move the device, or kick it around. It can create resistance by magnetizing one side more than the other (more power to the electro magnet). It can also "kick" it around my quickly alternating the power from one side to the other or rapidly alternating it.
  22. Well Frederf I was thinking more of a fixed magnet on one side (say the underside of the pedal since it moves) and an electro magnet on the other side (in the base). You would have a voltage regulator that would control the strength of the elecro magnets. I would'nt want something that was TOO powerful. That could cause injury. But this set up could create variable resistance and that "kick" I think you were talking about. Also, I'm a little confused by that statement. My FF stick gives variable resistance. Are you thinking of FF as a rumble? A rumble is not true FF.
  23. I was visiting the Thrustmaster website to check on any new information that might be available about the A-10 HOTAS. While I was there I decided to check out the racing wheels (another hobby of mine, if you play GTR2 or GRID let me know). I read that the pedals use "Magnetic Resistance". I was thinking "Why don't they use that to simulate force feedback in rudder pedal?". So............ why don't they use that technology to simulate force feedback in rudder pedals? Would that even work? Let me know what you guys think.
  24. Here is a link to that game leroy1964 http://www.sierragamers.com/aspx/m/643914 3D Helicopter Simulator wa truely 3D with buildings, a working draw bridge, a moving cargo ship, and head to head combat with the CPU or another player (over modem long distance charges apply) It had several veiws and was extremely advanced back in its day in concept and controls (just check out the manual on the sight).
  25. Wow thats a man that loves his Apache. leroy1964 did you happen to ever play 3D Helicopter Simulator by Sierra. This was the first game I ever had that offered head to head multiplayer over a modem. Pre internet of course (at least for the public). Tandy 1000 baby.
