Thanks Z. Appreciated. BTW, I have a cable Rift S. I can launch with VR off, but when VR on, as soon as DCS tries to boot or connect to Oculus, DCS crashes.

Lucky you. No such luck for me, so I will be patient for DCS to fix. The last time I started re-writing files and folders I screwed DCS so badly I needed to totally removed and re-install everything down to Windows. Saved log book though!

No effect. Crashes on boot up, except if SteamVR selected, then it opens in 2D

This is exactly what I went through yesterday. My normal routine; flash up the PC, click on DCS, put on headset, fly campaign mission, land and shut down, go back to Honey-do list for "She who shall be obeyed". Suddenly DCS starts crashing on boot up. To be honest, I figured it was DCS at first, so I fiddled around a bit. I was worried of screwing up my progress or the sim itself, so I didn't mess with much. To see if it was my oculus, I used the updater to start with VR off, and was happy to see at least DCS worked. Then I thought of the forums "I wonder if it is not just me" Happy to see it isn't, but pissed that some people think I should be following DCS forums or Oculus forums daily so that if there is some kind of an update to either I can be forewarned to go into program files and start re-writing folders to prevent automatic updates. ""surprised in this day in age people don't know how to do that" Really?? I do love DCS and its community. As a retired naval flight officer I enjoy learning weapons and systems and tactics. Takes me back to my numerous warfare courses through my career. But if DCS or Oculus are not working to fix this, I will not give up on DCS. I want to keep flying, so what VR system should I now be running to the store to buy? Apologies for the rant ... Hopefully this us fixed before my beloved Phantom shows up. I'll be seriously pissed if she stays in the chocks waiting patiently for my ham-fists to get her into the realm in which she belongs ..... Yours Aye!

Not sure what this means, needing WIFI. My Rift S is hard wired to the desktop and I can run it without WiFi.

I was unaware of this issue until today. I checked and I have PTC disabled, so an auto-update of my Rift S today has screwed me with no resolution in sight? Sorry, I am potentially not as Ones and Zeros fluent as most.

Good day, I am reaching out for a little help. I have oculus rift s. Yesterday all was good. Today when I try to start DCS, either through this launcher with VR on, or through the desk top icon, it crashes on the load, with only the start icon appearing below then disappearing. If I start with this utility with VR off, it flashes up right away. Any idea what the gremlin may be between DCS and starting in RIFT S VR?. Like I said, this is the first time this glitch has reared its ugly head since I reloaded the game months ago. All good until trying to flash up today. Curses!!! Any advice appreciated. Wally. Sometimes I get this far into the boot up, but then it stops.

This thread was a great help. It is a bit artificial, because as soon as the first hangar was hit the surprise is gone and the next JSOWs would get taken out, certainly the 4th one. But it ws still fun. I'll note I have cheated on a few missions - loading the ATFLIR pod, even though Ford is complaining about not having one, doesn't seem to screw up missions, though I have only gone through msn 1-6 so far.

I used ALCS on two missions so far, and both were bolters ....weird or design?

No luck yet. Ran the updater and it won't load. Downloaded Skatezilla, but I cannot load a build. How is this done?

Thanks guys. I tried to run the updater cleanup from the command prompt and I got an error saying the DCS updater file could not be found. I found it on my own and am running it now. Once complete I'll try the updater cleanup again I'll also look at the Skatezilla updater. Thanks for the tips! Cheers

Art-J Thanks mate. I will give this a go. I have backup up the saved games folder to an external drive. So I go in and delete the content but leave the empty root folder, then run the repair, or delete the folder entirely? Slow repair and cleanup command is found where? Cheers Found a video on how to do the repair, so no worries.

Potentially a dumb question. I am just having so many issues with DCS lately, including crazy slow boot times and freezes, Open beta not opening at all, oculus not connecting, etc. I have backed up my saved games folder to protect the logbook and previous game/campaign downloads. After I uninstall ad clean up the computer, I should not have issues downloading previous purchases (F-14, F-18< Persian Gulf, Nevada test Range, SC, etc). Correct?

Bignewy, I just noted the latest update to stable version included for the F-14 the following. Will this be updated for Hornet as well? Great work! NEW: Carrier Burble Aerodynamics Carriers will now create a burble behind the stern. Burble intensity differs with carrier and wind speeds and needs to be taken into account when landing on the carrier. When in close, the burble will first generate positive vertical velocity, immediately followed by negative vertical velocity. NEW: At night, the catapult launch is triggered by turning the exterior lights on (in accordance with manual procedures).

There probably are too many reasons to list. Top of my head a few obvious ones might be immersion enthusiasts may want to track stats and keep up currencies. Those who are on multiplayer teams (squadrons) could track stats as done in ready rooms for friendly competition and necessary banter! Individuals may just like to keep for interest sake without going through creation and maintenance of some sort of tracking system. Not a must have, but if there is even a log book at all it could be a little more detailed.
