I was only referring to the "tight fit" of the cockpit when comparing the Rafale to the Viper. :) It appears both cockpits are very compact but the real test would be to try each one out in real life. PS: I really enjoyed this video:

+1 what quirk said... With some creativity you can make your HOTAS work.

I just started learning how to use the A-10C... Here is my first map for my X-65F HOTAS. The "Nose Wheel Steering" requires the pinky button to be held down for the shift function. I will add more as I go... I still have to map something to the "control panel" and the rotaries on the throttle. I prefer not to use the included Saitek programming software. Good info here (thanks kylania): Bold = long Taken from toby23's document pack.

What about A-10C "Game Mode"? I've never tried it, but it may be tons of fun for a lot of people.

Do you have a joystick or HOTAS setup? The basics of the A-10C is pretty easy to learn if you have a decent HOTAS with several hats.

DCS World Benchmark Tracks??
walker450 replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
True true but I will leave that to the professionals :) Anyone want to do this? Build a mission that is strictly for show... Doesn't neccessarily need to be playable by humans... I know there is one mission, I beilieve "Black Sea Battle", in FC2 that has a really cool intro scene showing the two Navies preparing for battle. I am picturing a "benchmark" mission to be like the into for that mission... where the camera automatically changes from scene to scene. Could have groups of planes refueling... some attacking A2G, some A2A, large armies attacking each other, and navies fighting too. -
DCS World Benchmark Tracks??
walker450 replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I also done a search with no good results (nothing recent with DCS World)... I desire a mission that really shows off DCS... I want to see naval, land, and air battles going on and just sit back and watch the show :) -

Is there a specific "benchmarking track" to test hardware performance in DCS World? I have always done this by "feel" and not by numbers in the past. With BS1 I would play the Battle mission and judge performance. Is a track even the best way to benchmark in DCS? Thanks in advance!

Another one worth watching IMO: (Are We Real?) The concept of us not being real is a difficult one.... and I don't believe it is so... but an interesting concept either way. :)

Must see: http://youtu.be/EeIM-4hJO44 (Money Masters) This is very long but worth every minute. I personally haven't researched the claims in the video to check for accuracy. And regarding the notion of continuous growth: http://youtu.be/umFnrvcS6AQ

Ether: I am amazed at how much you enjoyed that video. Now you should watch "What The Bleep Do We Know". Have fun! Link: http://youtu.be/tSk51Lp-vHU :)

What's better, triple monitors or single TV
walker450 replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
OP: Have you tried portrait? Thats what I'm using now. As far as the general debate of 3 monitors or 1 TV goes... I have done both in several configurations and have came back to triple monitors each time... It's hard to beat 3x the pixels for a game this detailed. My 2 cents... :) Here is a link to a thread I started, it has a pic of my setup at the bottom, among others: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97673&page=3 -

please help me choose my next computer
walker450 replied to wolle's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just build an i7/7970 system and can run three 1080 screens at 3240x1920 on high settings with great frame rates. I know it's not for everyone... but I highly recommend building your own. I spent $950 on mine and it is comparable to the one you described. :) You could use the extra money for three very nice monitors :) (I already had the monitors and only needed the actual tower) PS: Message me with any questions, because I may not check this thread again. -
Looks very similar to the Viper pit to me:

I think "DCS: Rafale" would be a great addition... with carrier ops of course! :) I really like the cockpit and HOTAS layout!

Does anyone know details on the Raafle HOTAS? Are the throttle and stick both force-sensing? Here is a pic taken from here:http://bower99.blogspot.com/2010/11/dassault-rafale.html The throttle appears to be stationary... EDIT: I answered my own question... I found this video: It shows the pilot moving the throttle, so it is not force sensing... It is interesting that the single throttle controls both engines. It does look like the stick is force sensing with only a small amount of travel (probably a similar story to the F-16).
