After much reading... I think I may go with 4x4GB of the Samsung RAM... http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3V4G3D-US/dp/B00592002W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 I want to run the three monitors in portrait mode and I believe IPS monitors will look better due to the greater viewing angle. I currently have 3 23" Acers and I cannot use them in portrait due to the poor viewing angle and the thickness of the bottom of the case. I've had the Antec 1200 for four years now and am going to re-use it.... yes, it is a BEAST! I also blow mine out with compressed air... 8)

Perfect!! I hope the results are good!! -
Thanks Kuky! Anyone know if 32GB (4x8.) of 1600mhz memory would be better than 16GB (2x8.) of 1833mhz?? Newegg has some good deals on RAM right now.......

Hello all. I may be building a new computer soon. Here is what I have put together so far: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory 1x: GIGABYTE GV-R797OC-3GD Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card 3x Eyefinity: Dell UltraSharp U2412M Black 24" 8ms LED Backlight Widescreen LCD IPS Panel Monitor (1920x1200 Res) Intel SSD and 10,000 RPM WD Velociraptor drives Corsair 750W Power Supply Antec 1200 Full Case Think this would run DCS smoothly? Resolution would be 3600x1920 + bezel correction (should be about 3800x1920 total) I will be playing FC3 and BS2 most of the time... Until the new fast mover comes along in the future... Hopefully one 7970 3GB would run smooth... I rather stick with one card if at all possible. Some other forum members have also reported that DCS doesn't respond with much performance increase with SLI/Xfire. Comments, suggestions?????

Anyone Using 3600x1920 3x1 Portrait?
walker450 replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was unaware of the potential heating problems when tilting the projectors... that stinks! Do you think a single 7970 3GB would run 3600x1920 (+bezel correction) smoothly in DCS? It will be on an i7, Z77, 16GB 1866mhz, SSD system. -
Anyone Using 3600x1920 3x1 Portrait?
walker450 replied to walker450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
But the actual physical space will be closer to a 46" screen :) (with more than 3x the pixels) :) Pros: Lots of pixels, rather large display area Cons: Bezels, more complicated setup over single monitor So after all of your travels.... have you decided multiple projectors is the way to go? Have you tried 3x projectors in portrait? 3240x1920?? -

I am thinking about buying 3 24" Dell 1920x1200 IPS monitors and running them in portrait eyefinity mode. Does anyone know if DCS will run in this resolution? Also, if you are doing this, what video card(s) are you using? I would like to get by with a single 7970 if possible...

Could someone please elaborate on the altitude description (high, med, low)? Is this relative to your aircraft or is there a specific range in MSL that is constant? I have read through the manual for FC1 but it has been a while. :)

I am currently using a 42" LCD TV for my monitor, I'll take a pic and post it later.

I have experimented with 2 diff triple monitor setups: (1280x1024-1920x1080-1280x1024 and 1920x1080 times 3) Triple 1920x1080 was too wide and too narrow I thought. The FOV never quite looked right and the fisheye effect was really bad. Also setting it up for ALL sims was a pain. I then decided to try out my 42" LCD Samsung, and it is great!!! Like someone said earlier, at around 3' it makes the 3D pits feel almost life-size. My next experiment is going to be with my 46" LED Samsung that's in the living room... just gotta convince my wife the simpit needs it more than the living room lol!! As mentioned earlier, it is very important to have it mounted at the correct level. I have mine where I'm looking right at the center of it. 46" and up you probably want to be looking slightly above center maybe... Post some pics of your setup!!

i look forward to telling stories next May!! I have already scheduled off work. I plan on bringing my pit next time.

Congrats!! A friend and I did this March 30th and had a blast!! I don't want to spoil any of it for you, so I won't give details. The biggest challenge for me was holding my head up while pulling G's. There is no headrest on the seat and one time my head snapped back pretty hard and hurt my neck. However, I am kind of "puny" and have a little neck so not much muscle there. Another thing is after each vertical loop, push the stick forward to dive and gain airspeed, don't go straight back up, get plenty of speed before going up again. Enjoy!!! Can't wait to see the video!!!!

The B-29 "FiFi" stopped in Oklahoma City this week. I live about 45 miles east. I had some spare time before work (I am on night shift this weekend, 5pm-5am) on Friday so I stopped by the airport to check out a Superfortress for my first time. The was a WWII veteran just ahead of me on the flight deck of the 29. When we got down he was telling war stories. He was a gunner on a TBF Avenger. Long story short, I bought him the last ticket available for the B-29! He got to fly Saturday morning. His wife contacted the local paper and they done an article. Here is the link: Stranger treats Oklahoma City veteran to dream flight in B-29 One of the pictures shows Mr. Wheeler and I talking. My friend John is to me left, and my wife Kendall is in the background. Here are a couple pics off of my phone:
