  1. Our chaps over at VFA-89 bolters realised that you have to have wheel brakes and all units need to move a couple of foot to then all deck crew to play nicely. Maybe this is the problem?

  4. Anyone know any advanced features with Opentrack? My issue is that when I centre things in my normal seating position, I am sat too far backwards in the cockpit... I want to sort of be able to set a default starting Z distance relative to the data coming from the headset if that makes sense... At the moment my only workaround is to lean way back, centre, so that when I sit in normal position I am in the right place. Oh and no zooming doesn't work primarily because this does not change your FOV with regards to the HUD, so if you are missing extremes, it is not the same as moving forward... Oh and I cannot get Freetrack working successfully so that is not an option. Any ideas? Thanks. One more thing, tried joining the Freetrack forums but I never get beyond the admin approval for some reason? Bloody annoying!

  7. Hi folks so I often activate the HMD on powering up the f18, and once set up and satisfied I will usually use the above function to blank the display... So most of the time I can un-blank by pressing this button again, but as sods law states, when I need it to unblank, it won't and remains non operational. I know the switch is dual purpose in real life so is this something to do with SOI or similar?
  8. I don't know what is wrong with your ability to handle long lists ED but if I leave multiplayer screen too long it just gets slower and slower until I am unable to do anything! It is kind of pathetic considering this is just a text screen! I know a LOT of other folks have performance issues here and there must be a way to sort this out!

  10. Ah I just realised it just takes a loooooong time to populate everything. I am leaving it to see if things improve. I wonder if this is processor related as that is a bottleneck in my system. This only highlights the issue that we need some way of limiting the server population system IMO that we can save. So for instance only starred servers come up, then we can search for specific servers or untick 'starred' (for example) for the full list.

  12. It is the main selection menu that is slow as hell. It use to settle down in a few minutes but it has never been so bad as it is now! Almost unusable. There should be an option that stops it populating until you start a search. Or being able to save the filters etc...
  13. Folks was there not an F104 mod for DCS? To all the haters. Just sod off lol... It was a beautiful plane designed by a true master. Pilots loved the aircraft (including German pilots!) but also respected it and realised it WOULD bite you if miss-treated. Hope to see one fly one day but the only reason they are so hard to keep airborne these days is not down to the aircrafts complexity or reliability but the aging ejector seats losing their certificates
  14. So this is something I noticed most of all in the multiplayer menu, which use to sort itself out after a few minutes but does. However, it is also quite noticeable in the armament menu too! Basically it is like the screen update slows right down, in the case of the MP menu to once every 2 seconds. I move the mouse, and I will be lucky if I can see where the new location is. Same with the drop down menus in the arm and refuel menu within the game, but things are a lot quicker there... Still frustrating to see the menu take a while to populate and then selecting the weapon. Game play is ok although I have to have graphics low if in VR. I use a M.2 SSD. The MP menu problem resolved with one update but them came back even worse after another update! All graphics drivers are up to date.

  17. I thought I would let folks know that I have managed to make use of the throttle HAT switch for both comms and TDC with SRS and VA/VAICOM with a small script. My problem was that I have assigned the throttle hat left/right to VA and SRS, but also use it to control the TDC with the pinkie. The issue was that while VA had the ability to ignore the HAT when shifted, SRS did not. SRS does not also have the ability to see pinkie shifted buttons so every time I used the TDC SRS would transmit! The solution was to use a little program called Autohotkey and produce a script to allow the joystick HAT to be re-assigned to the keyboard (in this case the left/right arrow keys - remove them from DCS as aileron default). Then edit both SRS and VAICOM to look for the appropriate keyboard arrows for comm1/comm2. The script basically looks for the joystick input and ignores if shifted with the pinkie, but actives the arrows if non shifted. Doesn't take any resources worth mentioning either. Also, if you want to use the roller wheel next to the HAT (it is the mouse by default) then remove all references to the mouse in the Logitech software, and all modes bar mode 1. Save as a Logitech profile and you will now be able to use the mouse 1 button plus the indented roller wheel, which I use for radar Az. You will need to install Autohotkey from the link above, and then it will integrate within your system and the only thing you need to do is double-click the script I have produced to make this work.   19. ok a restart has sorted it. I wish I could exclude SRS though it is so annoying to have to shift the HAT to use comms :-(
  20. ok folks this is annoying, but I cannot get my HOTAS (X-52 PRO) working optimally with both combos and DCS. I'll explain.... So I originally had DCS configured to use the TDC shifted on my throttle HAT. This meant that HAT on its own would be used for flares and by leaving left and right free of DCS commands I assigned this to VA. It had one slight issue in that whenever I used the HAT shifted it activated COMMS. This was easily remedied by clicking a box within VA options to ignore its assigned buttons if other buttons were held down (i.e. shift/pinky). Now, this is where the problems start. Now that I play with a small squad, I need SRS. Great. The problem with SRS is that there is no option to ignore buttons if other buttons are held down, so every time I use the TDC with the shift, SRS thinks I am requesting coms and everyone in the group, at best hear's the break, or it could mess up someones comms at worse... I contacted SRS guy and he said he would be unable to add such a feature, and can't see why I cannot swap everything round to have his combo shifted. So I reluctantly tried this. Now, not sure if SRS works, but now VA while I am able to map SHIFT and HAT to the comm channel, when I test things out, for some reason, VA ignores my request and only 'releases comm1'. I do not get an activation for comm1!!! So basically VA does not like activating com1 with the combination for some reason. Even without DCS active, it does not recognise buttons 6+27 despite accepting the combo in the options when I remapped and pressed. Can anyone please help me determine what is going on? Assuming SRS does work with this combo I can deactivate VA tonight, but I really don't want to lose VA. I really can't see why SRS can't have the exclude button like VA does but perhaps there is something I have overlooked...? Hope that is clear! Thanks.
  21. It would be fantastic if we could have a sort of trap sheet and a complete breakdown of our landing attempts (hook or not) on the supercarrier. I don't have the Tomcat but the trap sheet looks like a great addition and will make the whole game more immersive. Perhaps even to the point where our scores are kept so we can see improvements and get an idea of where we need to improve? Surely it can't be that hard to impliment!? Thanks.
  22. ok folks so now ED have given us a fantastic carrier environment I find myself wanting more lol But while I appreciate there is a lot of work I think this idea might be realistic and maybe they could slip in on an update at some point... But maybe only for the hardcore! I would like to see an option for the deck crew to check your final wipeout before giving the thumbs up to the shooter? Maybe a tickbox default to off in settings. But nevertheless, it would add a little more to the procedural side of things I think... Also, to have announcements (legible or not) over the loudspeaker system on the deck would also be cool as hell.. Just little things like this that could add so much to the environment... Stupid ideas to many perhaps but I thought I'd throw them in if they have not been mentioned..

    Folks I have noticed a couple of things... When I start out in the FA/18 the trim is set to a course setting so it is quick to set the desired setting. But after takeoff, you no longer seem to be able to access the course adjustment and only get fine, which is great, but if I land for resupplies I might want to quickly set it again... Is there a certain config that allows me to select this?
