S77th server is up in "noob" mode.
S77th-GOYA replied to S77th-konkussion's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, the S77th is trying to be more helpful to the newer members of the community or even older members who have not played online. We are donating the use of our server in an effort to expand the currently meager online community. Most of the day, we were available on TS to answer questions. As a pleasant surprise, we even had Ironhand on TS helping out. (Thanks, Rich) We will likely be doing it again soon. So rugg and Cali, if you have anything you'd like to contribute to the noob community, join up on TS. Or you could just spam the next thread too. -

A question for the newer pilots out there. Which would you rather see on a server, external views, map view with all units visible or labels? -
No, not really! If the machine serving LOMAC can barely run it, you're just asking for headaches. Plus, a DSL line at 1.2 Mbps probably doesn't have much of an upload. If the upload is 1.2Mbps, then you could run a medium sized server.

The server has just been rotated to a fresh map, but I have left TS. You're on your own. Have fun. -

I've been in our public TS channel for about 2 hours and so far no one has joined it. To quote one of the great lines in cinema history, "Chump don't want no help, chump don't get no help." "Smack 'em, yack 'em." My apologies to those that don't speak jive. ;-) -

1. Hyperlobby or UBI.com 2. 1.12a for HL 1.02 for UBI (generally) 3. No one will see your skins, they will see the skins installed on their PC 4. Know how to IFF and how to start your engines -
You communicate in-game by pressing ctrl-M to bring up the chat function. If you only want your message seen by those on your side, press alt-M instead. Better yet, if the server has TeamSpeak, join it.

OT: Name for F-35 will soon take flight
S77th-GOYA replied to BladeLWS's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hopefully they won't take any inspiration from the folks who have been naming new autos. It seems there must be some good astronomical/mythological names left unused. Icarus - no, that won't work Paris - too French Achilles - asking for trouble Gryphon - hmm... Hydra - too wet Pegasus - draws too many flies but the bombs are lethal This ain't easy folks... Ares - too conceited I give up. Spitfire II it is. :d Don't forget the Tigercat and Bearcat. But the -cat names have all been naval. Doesn't bode well. -

HAHAHA!!! I told you! -
Sun visor. But, yes, the shadows in valleys are not dark enough. For a game that is so graphicentric, this seems to be an oversight. Yes, I said graphicentric. :P

SFS talon + split throttle for f-15 setup
S77th-GOYA replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Spray the pots out with Radio Shack contact cleaner or something similar. (not WD-40) That stuff is a little expensive but it goes a great job. ~$12 for a 4.5 oz can. -

Just to clarify, it only has 4 "joystick buttons". The two hats are not buttons. The only way they send a command to the computer is through keyboard emulation. The trigger, release weapon, thumb switch and pinkie switch are normal joystick buttons and can be mapped directly with the in game mapping options. Keep this in mind: The LED that is referring to is at one o'clock relative to the castle hat. The button that activates it is at 7 o'clock relative to the coolie. -

The Talon works by emulating a keyboard, so any commands you want to use on the stick must be remapped in-game to single keystroke commands. I only used one mode on the Talon, so I didn't have to put much time in doing that. -

They don't need special drivers. The XP generic drivers work fine. -

This is for the F-15E and the diagram shows the castle slewing the FLIR with left and right MPD and down MPCD. -

I've used it and the X45 and Fighterstick. I would not go so far as to say it's as precise (but just barely) and it did need to be calibrated fairly frequently. But, if mine wasn't worn out, I wouldn't think twice about using it again. It just "feels" right. The centering mechanism is the best of any stick I've ever used. Also, a small correction of my previous post. I just looked on my F-15E control stick diagram and it says the thumb switch is for: AUTO ACQUISITION SWITCH AIR REFUELING RELEASE Also the pinkie switch has a dual use. It also initiates nose gear steering, but that is moot in LOMAC. -

The stick, starting at the top left: Red button = fire missle Castle hat = slew target designator Coolie = trim Trigger = cannons Thumb switch = lock target pinkie switch = change selected weapon -
Here's a very simple, direct answer: Because Evolved Games decided to leave a known faulty product on the shelves instead of recalling it and restocking stores with working CDs. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine.
-
That's not how I remember hearing it. ED was advised of Evolved's announcements that Gold would include FC well before Evolved released their CDs. There are many possibilities of who got what from whom and when, but it boils down to the knowledge needed to point a finger at ED, UBI or SF has not been made public. Neither can one exclude any of those three companies from blame.
-
How do you know? Ultimately, Evolved should have tested the software that they were going to sell, but who is to say that they weren't given the wrong software by ED?
