I think I would rather see it on a kneeboard. I don't have to pay for all that ink. :)

There's always room for a stripper. Even Orville and Wilbur had room for a stripper. -
To compare real world loadouts and weapon capabilities with this game is silly.

They took off about two mile from my house. Terry Meiners is a local goofball but he seemed to get serious kinda quick there. :) -
It's not really a question of what it's made of, the question is are we using it faster than it's being made.

I'm a beginner. Can any one teach me avoid missile?

Which plane are you flying, Hammer? -
Rhen, have you looked at the track I posted? The fuel load is 50% and a gross weight of ~35,000. And no, we can't remove the pylons in LOMAC so the drag is as low as the game will permit. Can you give any indication as to loss of thrust at altitude? Maybe a % loss at 10, 20 and 30 K?
-
To be honest SK, I can't tell what that chart is telling me.
-
I'm guessing it's not based on a real world atmosphere/gravity model. Either that or the F-15's Cl might be way too high. Maybe a stall speed test?
-
Don't forget the thrust goes up with speed and the 47000 lbs I used was conservative even for stationary.
-
That's a laughable leap in logic. The Ford Escort has been moddified to give it better highway gas mileage so the Volkswagon GTI -may- get terrible highway gas mileage in a similar fashion. The LOMAC F-15 doesn't have enough thrust to vertically accelerate at 3000 feet.
-
http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/ngnsim.html Plug in the thrust you want and adjust for speed and altitude.
-
SwingKid, I'm glad you agree that the F-15 should accelerate straight up. Now, as to your drag calculations, using this and converting your figures into the correct units I get a force of 1147.1 lbs. 300 kph = 273.3 ft/sec p=0.002378 slugs per cubic foot 8 square meters = 86.111 sq feet Cd = .15 D = .5*.002378 * 273.3^2 * 86.111 * .15 = 1147.1 Now, would you care to contend that the F-15's engines rapidly lose thrust at altitudes under 10,000 feet or are you willing to admit that the power available to the F-15 in LOMAC is considerably lacking compared to its real life counterpart?
-
Note that in this track, the 15 (clean w/50% fuel) can climb straight up after take off but it doesn't accelerate. In fact it does the opposite. I'm perfectly willing to accept that the engines don't produce full thrust at take-off speed, however. Check this little jewel out. http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/ngnsim.html It's a java applet and it has the F100 engine, but not the old -100 version.
-
Ok, so which part is relevant? Explain in simple terms why any free object weighing 35,000 lbs (a clean F-15C w/50% fuel load) can't be accelerated straight up by 47,000+ lbs of thrust (2xF100-PW-100 afterburning turdofans).

Negative, Lomac should not be patched before installing the add-on. -

LOL, yeah, I kinda figured that you might have meant something like that, but at first, I did see it as Advanced Flight Model. I've got the 1945 revised Pilot's Training Manual but the stall speeds listed are conservative compared to actual wartime USAAF flight tests and only give power-off stall speeds. Plus, even in the USAAF tests, there are no figures for stall with combat flaps and/or full WEP power-on. -

OK, that mostly doesn't make sense but let me use this opportunity to let everyone know that if they know of any P-38 test data, I would really appreciate seeing it. The only place I know of is http://www.spitfireperformance.com and the data there isn't enough for my purposes. And let me make this clear: I am NOT trying to tell ED how to run its business nor am I telling anyone else whether to support them. All I'm saying is that for some time now, ED has been focusing on things other than why I bought LOMAC and why I have enjoyed LOMAC for 2 years. This trend doesn't show any signs of stopping. There are people who would see buying BS even if they don't expect to use any of the new features simply as an investment in ED's future. I'm not one of them. I support companies that produce the things I like. And I don't expect my voice to be heard any farther than the cash register. NO ONE has lambasted LOMAC because it's not perfect. The problem seems to be that support for the things that are important to some of us seems to have disappeared. I actually bought LOMAC on an impulse. I went to the store to buy Pacific Fighters and saw LOMAC with the Hog on the box and bought it instead. It was a hell of a good investment of $40 bucks. If that box had the Su-25T or Ka-50 on it, I never would have picked it up. If ED produces a sim in the future with features that appeal to me I won't hesitate to buy it, knowing that there will be bugs and knowing that it will take them a lot of time to make patches and add-ons. -

What's the WEP power-on stall speed of the P-38L in combat flaps configuration at normal combat gross weight? Show me proof of that and I guarentee I'll buy BS. :) -

S77th-GOYA replied to aimmaverick's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'm not trying to be objective. Whether or not I buy BS is purely subjective. And it was really in response to the claim that ED is in business for "our" pleasure. Surely "my" pleasure is part of "our" pleasure. -

S77th-GOYA replied to aimmaverick's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If OUR pleasure is their motivation for staying in business, I'll eat my keyboard. But that begs the question, who is included in your use of the word "OUR"? I have serious doubts about whether or not I will buy BS when it comes out. I have no interest in the Ka-50 and I don't see any planned improvements to the things that are limiting LO now. LOMAC's engine has been named as the reason for not being able to correct certain problems and yet ED keeps adding to it. I've heard the programmer that wrote the code for the Mission Editor no longer works for ED so improvements to it are unlikely. Another dead end. It has been stated that since 1C is funding the developement of the add-ons, they are tailored to the CIS market. For people interested in Western aircraft, another dead end. I don't know what 1C has asked of ED but seeing another 1C product that is sold worldwide and is not focused on the CIS leaves me somewhat skeptical. The popularity of that product is unparalleled in the combat flight sim community. Yes, props v jets isn't a fair fight as far as popularity goes, but the difference in the focus is still there.
