  1. dds is an image file format and cdds is a collection of dds files.
  2. The Byrds - Eight Miles High God, I'm old.
  3. I'm not so sure of that. There is a new developement in datalinking that supposedly doesn't compromise stealth. A recent release regarding F-22 speaks vaguely about it.
  4. Which attributes are in the .cmd file?
  5. Then just get the best AGP card you can find and afford. Or give up for now and wait until you can build a whole new system.
  6. Without explanation from ED, this is only speculation. But, with the CDDS tool, can all the hi-res skins and all the other textures that had to be placed in the TempTextures folder now have a CDDS file of their own? And would this help with performance/resources?
  7. Before anybody goes nuts with high poly models, consider FPS loss. It's true that some of the models could use a facelift but playability should be taken into account. But of course, those that just want to make screenshots and movies, knock yourself out. Remember, it's just eyecandy. And yes, Cosmo, drop tanks would be a perfect application of this new tool.
  8. Echo, yes, you'll notice a difference. If nothing else, better image quality. (resolution, AA, AF) Which CPU are you using?
  9. 1 - Check your ingame keymapping. Does just plain F work for half flaps?
  10. Perhaps you didn't make the connection. Those things that take more CPU cycles also use more network bandwidth. I've hosted FB/PF and I've hosted LOMAC. LOMAC needs more bandwidth per client without problems occurring. That is a fact. But, it is still no reason for turbulence to be absent from multiplayer. Tubulence settings could load with the rest of the mission file and reside with the client for the duration of the mission. If warping occurs because of it, then that is a bug, not a bandwidth problem. The position of each a/c is sent through the network connection anyway, why would the effects of turbulence on a client make a difference?
  11. Gozr, this is not IL2. To compare the two as software is pointless. There are many things in LOMAC that are going to take more CPU cycles to keep track of. Missiles, radars, RWRs, etc. And before you get red in the face angry about things that are missing or are modelled incorrectly with your 6 posts here, realize that all these things have been brought up before. Things you haven't even noticed yet. ED is aware and they haven't put the code in to make these things work. Not to say you should sit quietly and smile about it, but as someone who has brought up several deficiencies in this game, you are going to end up frustrated if you think you can try and get ED to do anything about them. Also be prepared for certain people saying things like "It isn't a bug". I'm sure you know the type.
  12. Turbulence has never worked in multiplayer. My guess it is "not supported".
  13. You can repair on the runway. But loss of landing gear is not repairable, except maybe for the Frogs. LEaving your canopy closed is the best way to tell if you are repaired, especially if you have no visible signs in the cockpit that you are damaged. If you're bellied in, try to get off the runway before ejecting.
  14. R-77 is fire and forget. It has its own radar. The Flankers don't have fire and forget missiles.
  15. How do you move mud in a 25 vanilla in zero-vis? Or are the targets at higher elevation? (above the fog line)
  16. I can't speak for everybody else but as for me, thanks to all that fly in the servers because without you, we'd have much less fun.
  17. Mode 1 - Flight/combat/a2a/a2g/nav Mode 2 - Engine start, taxi and takeoff Mode 3 - Landing That is for the Saitek throttle Only one mode for the CH stick. I use the keyboard quite a bit. I prefer the feeling of having to reach for some controls.
  18. American Skin?
  19. There seem to be two ideas of what immersion really consists of. The one that I agree with is D-Scythe's. Immersion in this context helps the "suspension of disbelief" that one is just sitting in front of a screen. The other, if I understand what people are saying, is more like going to a movie. The special effects and "movie magic" help to take you to another world or another time. You might say one is active immersion and the other is passive immersion. IMO, active immersion is what helps make a game become a sim. The biggest point for me is that even flying a mudmover, I'll never come close enough to any of the models/textures to see them in any detail anyway. I would MUCH prefer that the efforts going into this be put into other things that LOMAC lacks in its present state.
  20. Give 'em hell, T!
  21. Ka-52 = two seats Ka-50 = one seat Black Shark = Ka-50
  22. The numbers you see are the top and bottom altitude limits of the scan cone at the distance of your targeting designator. The default scan cone width is quite wide. The drawback to that is that it takes longer to complete a full 4 bar scan. The width of the cone can be reduced and slewed left and right, if you want.
