  1. The MiG 1.44 prototype is also an interesting sight. I wonder when it will find it's way to the Monino museum, though paint looks in good condition for 11 years of storage.
  2. Bury it under 2m of soil, dig it out after 10 years and it will still run and fly. This is how Russian aircraft are meant to be.
  3. I believe the author means that the MiG-21 in Bulgarian Air Force will be phased out at the end of this year. And yes, at the Bulgarian International Air Festival early next month the MiG-21 will be flying, perhaps for the last time in public.
  4. They have waaay more effective devices to stop them on ground such as thrust reversers, ground spoilers and very effective brakes. I've been on board on a 737 during test flight few times and part of the flight was a real rejected take-off. I can tell you one thing - it kicks bad, you and the airframe. But it stops like a b.tch.
  5. Disregard. My squadmate just told me that he has forgotten to install the 2.11 hotfix when we flew yesterday. He did it now and we tried it - all works fine.
  6. Actualy this has been a specially modified Ka-29 - http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/shinecommerce/15454 You can see the Shkval window under the nose. other Ka-29's don't have it. Ka-32 is a civil helicopter on which, unfortunately, I no longer work :(
  7. Just did some online flying with a squadmate. We found that the main lua script (combat modes, EOS, HUD range etc) works but only for the server side. For client it was not working like in V2.0.
  8. Not a photo but a must see. Insane flying by the Su-35 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRV-c4s5vMo
  9. From the last visit of the USAF Thunderbirds in Bulgaria, 25th June, Graff Ignatievo AFB - during their display a heavy shower passed through the airfield forcing the solos #5 and #6 to land and the crowd to look for cover. I managed to get under a big tent but these people have found an alternate shelter :D Top sentence says - 100 years Bulgarian aviation :) Posted by AShotInTheDark in this forum.
  10. Yeah I figured so. No big deal, just an observation. There is another one - real MiG-21 don't have flares/chaff dispensers. Perhaps only the Romanian Lancers have but I'm not sure. But in terms of gameplay that feature is a must ;)
  11. Another thing I noticed - the horizontal stabilizer has a differential function(both halves deflect different in roll) like the MiG-23 and MiG-29. That's not correct, the real MiG-21 (either version) doesn't have a differential pitch/roll control surfaces.
  12. These are the patches of the only currently flying the MiG-21 bis squadron in the Bulgarian Air Force, 1st Sqaudron of 3rd AFB Graff Ignatievo: - shoulder patch - squadron patch worn on the chest of the flight suit, R/H side But my favorite is the patch of the former 6th AFB Balchik (at the Black Sea)
  13. Some good photos from the rehearsal yesterday - http://fotografersha.livejournal.com/145435.html#cutid1 Yoda, you lucky... :D
  14. The Intruder is the ultimate attack aircraft the US have ever built. Just love it! Thanks hitman
  15. I'm positive about TVC actuators of any RD-33 and AL-31 versions with TVC. I don't expect anything different in the T-50, yet. Because the two flying prototypes still fly with the 117S engines (modded AL-31's). They are yet to receive the AL-41. It's indeed quiet surprising the solution of fuel pressure controlled actuators in the hottest section of the engine but this is how they've made it. It's nothing like VBV's and VSV's which are fuel operated for ages. That nozzle control is designed by Klimov bureau BTW.
  16. Feels equally good for me V2.0 and 2.1 in single player. If you pull hard (more than 8.5G) there is a stick pusher which pushes forward the stick and decreases the G-load. That doesn't work online and you can pull as much as you want reaching extremely high AOA and bleeding speed like crazy. The 21 doesn't like high AOA, hence the yellow and red sectors. Try not to increase AOA above 12-15 deg in a turn fight. The buffet is a pure indication that your turn rate suffers pretty much.
  17. I just flew with a squadmate online and found some bugs, at least I didn't see anything about that in the manual: - The EOS works - target designator moves left-right - HUD range is selectable same as for other russian planes from 5 to 500km - G-limiter doesn't work. I can pull like crazy, g-load goes extremely high, AOA goes in the red sector, a/c looses speed extremely fast (like 100km/h per sec). I was able to do some sort of a cobra. All is OK in single player - no EOS, no left-right slew of the TDC, only 25km HUD range, g-limiter works normally.
  18. Great stuff! Now I have my bulgarian MiG  A couple of items I noticed: - the loading screen still says V2.0 - could it interference with V2.0? - the pylon selector switch animation goes wrong (switch "copy" still remain in neutral) in case the nuke is fitted in. Screens attached:
  19. The engine nozzles are indeed hydraulically operated but they don't use hydraulic oil, they use jet fuel as operating fluid. So no mix with a/c's hydraulics at all.
  20. Not sure whether it has been noted nut the afterburner cone of all other planes is gone. Love the way all switches move when you start/stop the engine
  21. Actually it shows M2 12 7 in the log even when you shoot with the internal gun GSh-23L.
