  1. On every real aircraft exceeding the g-limit in flight or during hard landing is calling an un-scheduled maintenance and if deformations are found on primary structure it's very likely the airframe to be considered BER and hence written off, as someone mentioned. That was something I've always wanted to see in a flight sim. You overstress your bird - boy, you're now grounded for a month :D Of course, for commercial product like DCS would be nonsense for example as penalty to limit you somehow of accessing certain parts you've paid for. But having something that will force you to fly the aircraft in the most realistic manner (as much as the modeling allows) is a great feature in my eyes. So watch out how pull-happy you are with the stick and enjoy flying the Flanker :)
  2. Structural disintegration is not new to this sim. Back in the FC1/2 days the Su-25/T had the very same limit - fly it with flaps in combat position and no stores, speed up to 850-900 kph and pull hard on the stick. You can kiss your wings bye-bye... The bottom line is we can never go wrong with modeled in-service limitation of the particular airframe. This will only makes virtual pilots more disciplined and improve the immersion. I'm sick and tired of online airquake. The pilot, even virtual, is first of all a thinking person, so lets not take away this primary function.
  3. Gameplay balance? What kind of balance is to pull infinity high G's with 9 tons of fuel and full weaponry? The maximum capacity of 9400kg fuel is uplifted only for long range, usually ferry flights or escort in best case. In Russian terms the subject internal volumes are actually called "internal drop tanks" meaning that they would only be filled if additional to the available in the other "regular" tanks fuel is needed. Having so much space in the fuselage the Su-27 actually doesn't need external drop tanks. I admire this feature in the new update. The only thing that it brings to the gameplay is that people should now finally FLY the plane within it's limitations and things like BFM will become essential.
  4. Russia is pulling out from Syria some fixed wing airpower but is adding to the rotary one - Mi-28 and Ka-52 are now in Hmeymim base. srra3IKtEg8
  5. 6th generation fighter? What's that? A 5th generation fighter that's more environmental friendly? :D
  6. To restart such a complicated manufacturing it's not all about money and logistics. Even if the tooling is still available and various vendors are still on the market it's more about the human capacity and knowledge that would drive the process. There's a vast amount of production experience and know-how that no money can buy. So whoever is thinking of resuming F-22 manufacturing they better look for where the proper (trained) people are. Speaking about - where actually the F-22 assembly line has been located, Fort Worth, TX?
  7. Reporting RL data from the FEBA - that massive rain all over the place could be easily be changing into snow. Check your anti-ice systems gents...
  8. The lack of RWR is probably the biggest disadvantage of the Ka-50. Even the Mi-24 being produced much earlier has at least the SPO-15.
  9. The AC external power is able to supply the main AC busses, meaning that when main generators are off you can have all systems powered.
  10. And you won't be alone in this my friend. Time to get the dust off my throttle and stick... Special thanks to 104th Phoenix for providing us a TS channel for the time being. S!
  11. Unfortunately it turned out that indeed the problem is in my hardware. I purchased the device on eBay from a seller from Hong Kong. Well all fine, except that the product I've been sold is not genuine as Naturalpoint advised. And it seems that the new software is inhibiting the device from working if it doesn't detect valid device serial number. Who would think about that? The device was on sold as 'new' and hell was even priced similarly. Naturalpoint were very supportive but thay can't do anything since the product I have is counterfeit. So now I'm going back to eBay to chase my rights. Unfortunately 15 months passed since my purchase and who knows what can be done.. Thanks anyway for everyone's inputs.
  12. Some feedback from the troubleshooting: - tried the device on a second computer with 5.2. software installed - all works fine - tried the device on a third computer after fresh installation of the latest 5.4. - device is not detected by the software and throws the same communication error message. Note - I forgot to mention that v5.4. along with the drivers and stuff installs some "Runtime-VC-#!@!%^bla-bla- x86" library or whatever. - since the installer for 5.2. was not available on the computer it was installed I rar-ed the whole Naturalpoint folder. Uninstalled 5.4 from my PC then I unpacked the rar-ed NP 5.2. folder as installed from other PC in my PC's Program files(x86) folder. I launched the software manually and voila - everything works absolutely fine. I was thinking that some registry entries might in conflict or missing or whatever but seems not be the case. I will feedback this to NP, though I'm yet to receive any kind of support after I submitted my query. For the moment I'm happy with this solution but nevertheless - does anyone have the 5.2. or earlier installer of the TrackIR software? Just for reference I'm running on Windows 7 Pro Service pack 1.
  13. Not yet but will do. EDIT: Just tried with software version 5.3.0 and still the same behavior :(
  14. Thanks for the advice but that didn't improve the situation. I've addressed the issue to NP, waiting for their feedback.
  15. Does anyone have older drivers? Unfortunately I don't keep any previous version of the software. The last one I've had (and was working fine) was 5.1.3.
  16. Same story. The only difference is that Windows tells that it can perform faster on another port.
  17. I posted on NP's forums yesterday but no answer yet, thought it might be worthwhile to post here as well. I updated the software to 5.4.1. version and the device went offline completely. Multiple re-installations didn't help. Windows (7) says the driver is successfully installed (although says version is 2.70 from 2012) and the device is ready for use but Naturalpoint software doesn't detect it. I tried different USB ports but same result, the two LED's are just blinking once in amber and that's it. The TrackIR software is giving me following message: Did my device just died on me?
  18. Hitchhiker, rotary way - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3890q7_crazy-russian-helicopter-pilot_auto
  19. Relax, there's nothing wrong in the Ka-50 model. You have little idea, if any, how much science is lying behind it. Don't forget that it's still a model, it ain't the real thing. But a very, very authentic model. The overspeed alarm triggered by the EKRAN is not a pre-alert for rotor collision as this depends on other parameters like R/H pedal input and g-load. As someone mentioned above the warning depends on air density so one could figure that it's warning for high Mach number on the advancing blades tips. Fly the Ka-50 and just enjoy it. It's still so much rewarding - ever since I was testing it back in 2007-2008 till today I never stopped to enjoy it.
  20. That F-16 pilot has learned what separation means the hard way.. 9fWoqa5nGmk
  21. That F-18 at 1:12 looks like practiced a carrier landing :D Pure deck smashing..
  22. R-60M on Su-27/33 is not realistic ;) Great stuff, I always enjoyed the '80s days on the 51st server back in the FC2 days. I'll jump in.
  23. Nope, that's a two-seater Su-25UB. And BTW the video doesn't belong here because it's showing the Ukrainian Air Force.
