  1. Didn't someone around here say that the thicker the armour then the more rounds you need concentrated on the same area to penetrate? Kind of how the hitting the front of the T-80U will take more rounds than the rear or the top. I see visions of two A-10C's running in on the weakest point seconds apart from each other. If that is even a valid tactic. Just remember, if these two ever went head to head in a war we would have already invented a good counter to it's armour if we didn't have one already.
  2. Yeah I'm sure I read somewhere that the formation strips are made to be seen only from a close distance.
  3. You never get a Maverick miss when it was fired with a perfect lock and well within parameters on a non moving target? Lucky man ;). I like to keep any mavericks I have for SAM threats. If I know for sure there aren't any then I will use them on tanks. I also misunderstood you before, I have done that mission if it's one of the quick missions. I've managed it more than once without rearming. I don't know if it was the east georgia one but there essentially the same mission if I remember correctly. I used my usual tactic, gun for tanks and trucks, rockets for infantry, bombs for bridges and mavericks for nasty threats.
  4. I haven't touched the campaign since the beta but it sounds like you could use a maverick or two. You can counter a Zeus easily with the gun providing you practice, as long as I fire and break off before I get to within 1nm then he can't touch me. Adding on to Zenra's post, when using dumb bombs such as the MK82, MK84, CBU-87 and the CBU-97 you will receive the most accurate delivery using CCIP but conditions don't always permit. You may encounter IR guided threats preventing you from going below 10K.
  5. Funkster, on fencing in you would usually turn off all illumination with the exception of formation lights if I remember correctly. Thanks for posting that shu77.
  6. The GBU-12 is a Laser Guided Bomb, it can be deployed from CCIP I think but it's usually deployed from CCRP above 10K feet. If your not lasing the target you will not hit it. There are multiple ways to employ different bombs which ultimately depend on the tactical situation.
  7. I can't say anything on the processor since I'm not an Intel guy. I just wanted to vouch for Scan, you should have no problems ordering from them, best support I've contacted. I'm guessing from you saying "I came across this website" that you haven't been there before. Good luck with your system building.
  8. How much turbulence though? The last practise I flew was at a value of 17.
  9. I agree with the ground appearing just as hot as the vehicles. I can understand if a patch of land below the tank was hotter than usual but not the whole area. In daylight dropping levels down to 0 and upping the gain to 5 or 6 helps them stand out more.
  10. Would you say there is any point in using the gun on a tank when there is a moderate level of turbulence? I've practised and it is possible to take them out but since your not rock steady it takes considerably more ammunition sometimes it may take two passes. Any other target is a breeze providing you've trained in the turbulence since most other targets take a couple of hits to be destroyed so being steady is not crucial. Would be nice to hear others opinions.
  11. Like I said I don't know about your CPU because it's architecture is not as new as the Phenom II's so I'll let an expert answer that one. Your CPU should be fine looking at the clock speed though. I run the game at these settings: Textures: High | Scenes: High | Civ Traffic: Off | Water: Low | Vis Distance: Medium | Shadow: High | MFD Res: 512 | Resolution: 1280x720 | MSAA: 4X | HDR: On
  12. I don't know how an Athlon would stack up to a Phenom II. On the GPU front I run the sim fine on a 5770 so a 6850 will run it. I don't think you will be able to max it with an upgrade to the 6850 but near enough I think.
  13. Windows 7 x64.
  14. Have a look here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72701. Might give some insight.
  15. There is a thread about it here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69401. Enjoy.
  16. Have you managed to get this sorted yet?
  17. I vote we get one of these for taking out infantry, would make for a change. On a serious note, I'd like to see the Tornado or a Harrier.
  18. The shortcut is RCtrl + Pause ( Pause Break ).
  19. From what I know about FreeTrack is that the quality of the head tracking is down to how good your webcam is and also how good your makeshift clip is. I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work with DCS.
  20. Glad it's helped a few people. I take it that it's scaling fine on higher resolutions?
  21. I honestly don't think it's related to multi-gpu now. It's not the TGP flickering from what I understand but the textures on the vehicle your looking at through the TGP. I just had a test on my computer and I can't seem to replicate it on NARO FOV with full zoom.
  22. I'm about to head off now but I will give that a try first thing tomorrow, see if it bugs out for me on full zoom. I've never had to zoom the TGP fully before unless it's really far away so I may have the same thing.
  23. ErichVon: Have a look around in your nVidia control panel for a setting named something along the lines of 'GPU Scaling'. You want to set this to 'Do not scale'. This will stop your resolution being stretched to full screen if it's lower than native and will also keep it's aspect ratio. I use ATI now so I can't remember the exact setting in nvidia but it is there. It keeps your selected resolutions pixels at the original size so the game will look just as crisp at 800x600 as it would on 1920x1080 but the image would be quite small. Someone who's name I can't remember told me about this on these forums, used it ever since in DCS.
  24. Someone with more knowledge should check in soon, it might be related to the new patch since I've seen flashing buildings and so on with .7. There is probably an easy fix for your problem. Out of interest have you tried different graphic settings for scenes and visibility distance? Might want to flick HDR off if you have it on see if it stops it.
