  1. I've been having problems with blurry textures since my reformat. I can't recall if this started happening when I got my new GPU or with the new patch. The textures are not as bad when flying at low level but it's not far off the screen shot. I have 16X AF forced in CCC along with high quality texture filtering and mip mapping. Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. One thing to remember, if your GPU has only 512MB of memory you will need to drop the textures to either medium or low. If you don't you will likely have small stutters as you move your view around.
  3. I'm using a XFX 5770 with 11.3. Whilst I'm not getting the white flash I am getting this weird number shown in this video someone uploaded to youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcmWgy5QVsA
  4. Must have left my brain on the pillow.
  5. I personally don't like the way it throws your head side to side in a hard roll. What I use it for is when you roll the wings it keeps your head aligned with the horizon. You can do this with TrackIR but I find it awkward.
  6. I never said it was realistic ;). I understand what your saying now. I will be doing my testing when I manage to sort my loading times out, takes me over 5 minutes to load into a mission in the new patch and it would take all week to keep reloading and trying methods.
  7. I see, my experience in F4 when 2 seconds from impact pulling up = death, down = death and pulling away was also death. Only last ditch that worked for me was the one in the video. Edit: Instead of me babbling on about thing's I will give them all a test in the next few hours and report back with what works.
  8. Isn't a nose down into the missile out of plane? Check the video if you didn't see it before, I edited it in. By 'into the missile' I mean turn towards it's direction but with your nose down so you won't be heading at it, usually it won't have enough energy to make the turn and it will miss.
  9. To clarify, I meant turn into it with a nose down attitude at the last second, works in the F16 if it's your last option but I was wondering if it would work in the A-10C. Obviously you would go by the book but there's always the chance that won't work and your in the no escape zone, 4 seconds from impact, you have two options, try the last ditch high g turn or go parachuting. A video for example: Note: The guy in the video should have lost the missile well before it got to that point. What worries me is he was pulling 9G's, my experience testing turns in the A-10C got me 6G's at best.
  10. How effective would a 3/9 beam and pumping chaff be against Radar Guided SAM's? Also, does the A-10C have a tight enough turn to perform a last ditch high G turn into the missile if all goes pear shaped? I've managed a highest turn of around 6g's in the A-10 so far, don't know if that's enough.
  11. I use TrackIR and have it turned on also.
  12. When the missile is above you isn't it still getting targeting info from the ground radar? Unless it's active homing.
  13. Zeke, I don't know how much this will help or how much is transferable to the A-10C or even SAM systems but it's worth a shot and it's a good video. The techniques do work effectively, I used to use them in Allied Force. This is part one of two.
  14. Check your inbox on the forum. Yeah some people prefer quite a big dead zone and some prefer no dead zone at all, up to you to decide which feels more natural.
  15. If the view is jittery try raising the smoothness setting. If your looking for a profile let me know and I will share mine.
  16. There's a guy on youtube by the name of gerryabbott who has done a few videos also.
  17. The easiest way is to fly the missile into the ground but that's not always an option due to AAA and IR SAM's. I don't know how effective it would be in the A10 since I've only tried it in F4 but have you tried notching the radar after launch? When I get to missile evasion in the A10 the first thing I will try is notching or beaming whilst at 100% RPM pumping out the chaff in a 5-10 nose down attitude. @Vincent: If you descend you have the advantage of the thicker air slowing the missile down more if I'm correct?
  18. You've jogged my memory. I've experienced this when I upgraded from an old AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.2 to my current AMD Phenom II X2 3.2 BE before it was unlocked. I got a small boost from doing that, it would have been more noticeable I think if my old 8800GT wasn't bottlenecking it at the time. As for the rest of your post, I'm lost :smilewink:.
  19. I think I see what you mean. This is probably why I haven't seen a change in DCS performance from unlocking since it's the same architecture and the fact it only takes advantage of two cores.
  20. Thought I'd share my experience with you. I recently unlocked my Phenom II X2 555 BE so it's now a quad core and I haven't seen any change in DCS. However in other games that take advantage of quad cores I've seen my fps almost double and I'm still running at the same clock speed as before. Personally I don't think you will see a major difference in A-10C if you went for an equivalently clocked quad core but that's for you to decide since I'm no expert. Looking at what I've read around the forum, it's clock speed that really makes the difference in A-10C.
  21. Sorry if I came across the wrong way, never meant anything like that. If my 550W can cope with my current components then my 650 will have more that 100W to spare, it's not much but it's the best I can do for the moment. My 550W has lasted me over 3-4 years my Corsair TX650 lasted 10 month at best, I'm very unlucky I suppose. Yeah I understand what your saying, the further you are from max power draw the longer the life span. Unfortunately there's not much I can do about that at the moment. As far as I'm aware my components aren't even topping out my 550W stand in. Also, am I right in saying the higher capacity power supply's are better made?
  22. I don't have the cash at the moment to replace the one that blew so I'm using the warranty and getting a replacement. The 650W wasn't anywhere near being maxed out considering my old 550W that I'm using now holds the pc fine when gaming and that's even with my 4 cores unlocked. So the 650W if I'm correct still had at the very least 100W to spare, I know it's obviously better to get the biggest power supply I can but like I said when I do have the cash I'm going for a much needed after market CPU cooler.
  23. I use Avast, works great with games.
  24. After some extensive reading I decided to give it a try anyways. Unlocked fine, seems stable on the AMD Overdrive stability test and in a few games. Averaged around 57-58C with all cores on full load for 22 minutes, will this be safe until I can get hold of a new cooler?
  25. Thanks for the heads up. @Mustang: I must be blind or something. :joystick:
