  1. Welcome back! So you still have the same system? If you have a Geforce 2, you will have to turn effects off completely. If I recall correctly, effects have to be off for your video card because your card doesn't support DirectX 8.
  2. You guys see this? http://www.frappr.com/lockonru I didn't know we (the Lockon community) had one of these. For those who don't know what a Frappr is, it's basically a map, and you can add your address, so everyone can see where you're from. Cool, isn't it? ;)
  3. hi all, I'm thinking about upgrading my vid card from an ATI 9600 to a GF 6800 GS. I was wondering, should I do it? lol How much FPS increase would I see? I have an AMD 2900 Socket A ( yes old stuff ;) ) and 1 Gig ram. How is advanced haze with the 6800? Any anomolies with the 6800?
  4. Yeah I feel the R-27ER's are hitting more, maybe it's just optimism ;) Pilotasso, about the IFF: a script could be made to ID your locked target, similar to how an Awacs would ID a target for you. The script would probably play an audio file, similar to the awacs audio files. For realism, would this only work in missions with awacs? Also, the server would have to implement it.
  5. Yeah B-1B and B-52 in FS 2004 was fun, for about 20 minutes.
  6. It could be that he's just new to the forums and hasn't seen that this is a "no no" topic ;)
  7. :( It sucks that we can't all play Lockon in the same spot. I forgot about this, but 1.02 has a few serious exploits that they addressed in 1.1. It affected turn rates dramatically, and used sparingly, could go completely unnoticed. Oh trust me, ED received many messages from myself and others about this.
  8. Ooo I love these charts. Yeah Brit that sounds right. I wonder why the Instantaneous curve for the Mig29 does not go all the way to the structural limit on the 2nd graph. Maybe just an error.
  9. For those who have a million and one keys set to their joysticks/hotas, I did this: 1) backed up old input .ini files, ex: MicrosoftSideWinderForceFeedback2.ini In my situation, I just backed up the whole Input folder to also save the keyboard.ini and mouse.ini files. 2) ran Lockon, then closed it, then copied the new input file name ex: MicrosoftSideWinderForceFeedback28412668800.ini 3) renamed the new input file ex: MicrosoftSideWinderForceFeedback28412668800 renamed.ini 2) copied the old file ( MicrosoftSideWinderForceFeedback.ini ) to the input folder and renamed it ( MicrosoftSideWinderForceFeedback28412668800.ini ) This might cause issues in the long run, but it works perfectly at the moment, and I don't have to rebind all the keys. I did this before, with 1.02 to 1.1 to 1.11, with small adjustments for new keys for the Su25T for 1.1.
  10. Yep Iguana, I confirmed, I have the same issue. Is this an issue or a feature? lol I tried it against a Mig 29 and an Su 27 in single player, and it does the same thing. The thing is, if the target is nose cold (or destroyed), you don't get the sound, just the "29" (or "25") on the TEWS, but if the target turns nose hot again, you hear the sound. Also, switching RWR modes will clear or reset the TEWS if the target is actually not painting anymore.
  11. hi all, I'm just playing around with the Su-27, and I wanted to use KH-31s with it ( modern Su-27/Su-35 mod I'm toying with, that's another story ;) ). I found a way to do it with scripts and easy radar, but I'm just wondering if there's an easier way. With scripts I have to check gimbal limits, target range, target (if it's a radiation source) etc. so if there's a quick, easier way to do it, I'm all ears :) Thanks, Jet
  12. Well I trust calculating heading/pitch differences, rather than using the turn rate formula ( I forget what it is, something to do with velocity squared/g ). About the trajectory, that's a good question. A problem though: I think the AOA gives us a resultant using 2 angles, the angle between the velocity vector and the yaw axis (top to bottom) and the angle between the velocity vector and the pitch axis. So, if we're pulling 25 AOA, we don't really know it's an angle completely towards the lift vector, because there could be a side component.
  13. Ok I posted about 15 posts this afternoon, but this one is worth it! Damn Maximus, I did the MaxFPS = 60, just as a test, and my fps doesn't go higher than 60, but it doesn't go much lower either! Thanks! It must keep my vid card cooler, I think I'm having temp (or had) problems with it.
  14. Thx for the link GG! Oh btw... Canada rules the WORLD!!! /me runs
  15. 1.02 supports Lua exports, but there are small differences IIRC. I put the exe and the prf file in the export folder. Hawg you should have an export folder, just don't remember where it is in 1.02.
  16. I mean, how much would you pay to do a real cobra, not a scripted one?
  17. I don't see or recall where I said the pre 1.1 was more realistic, I just said I felt, in my opinion, it was too easy to fly. So, bringing in an AFM might give us more things to worry about when flying, it might give us less. For example, the su25 was a joke to fly before the AFM, now you need to pay attention a bit more, not much. So, to me, I can't even make a guess at which of the two FMs are more realistic (pre 1.1 or post 1.1) but I can say, if we had an AFM, it would probably be more realistic than both, and I feel it would be, to some degree, harder to fly, but more maneuverable than 1.1. Jeez, even the su25T can do some stuff the su27 can't, with the way flight models are at the moment.
  18. Yeah that's cool Thomas. I had some buddies who flew Janes F-18, and they all had very fond memories of it. I never had it though.
  19. This is good proof? Sure it can change your opinion, but that's about it. How do you know this? Proof please. Funny how you know this too, without having a method to measure. Ok we digressed from the topic of complaining (or DID WE? haha j/k). Pilot, you have opinions, but proof would convince me. I guess Pilot I should have asked for good, solid proof, and a documentary doesn't apply, IMO.
  20. Pilotasso, if there was an issue about F15 A2A missiles here, I wouldn't question what you have to say. BUT, while you're flying F15s, I'm usually doing guns in an Su27, since the first day Lock On came out. So, I saw how the su27 evolved, and I think most would agree that in 1.1 the Su27 became much easier to fly. Realistic? Neither I nor you are an su27 pilot, so which of us can say? All I can say is, if the Su27 flies so realistic, why the need for AFM if it's so "realistic" now? [EDIT]So, I actually enjoyed flying a plane that was harder to fly.
  21. Pilotasso, did you fly the Su27 before 1.1? It was harder to fly, but if you could fly it well, it was fun. What I meant by "nerfed" is, it's TOO easy to fly now. Sorry, guess I should have picked another word ;)
  22. Goya, last I read on that was, ED didn't confirm whether they were using it. [EDIT]Did they confirm?
  23. Well, I always believed the su27 had high maneuverability, and I think the Su27 could take advantage of it more, and flying the 27 would feel more natural, if the 27 and 33 had the AFM. I never thought of the F15c doing cobras, or flying slow doing slow speed maneuvers, so giving the F15 an AFM wouldn't change the way it flew that much, besides landings. I think some people fly Lockon for certain planes, many of which fly for the 27 and 33.
  24. I do feel the su27 has been "nerfed" in the 1.1. Now you can never stall the plane, and I actually miss that. You could do some cool moves by stalling the plane. And the landings just don't seem right for a flight sim. Also, that shaking thing it does when you go nose straight up at slow speed and it loses speed, is that realistic? I always thought that, since all of this started with the Flanker series, that the Su27/33 would get some attention. Now, it seems the focus is far from the su27. The Su27 has even one of the oldest 3d models. I agree with Fudd, I would pay serious money for something I really wanted, rather than pay a bit for something I won't really use. I mean, there are many who bought 1.1 for other things besides the Su25T.
