  1. Well, that would explain why I can't get it working. Cheers!
  2. I have realised that the mission doesn't rely on the ADF, I had just incorrectly set up the INS. However ... I would still be interested to know how to use the ADF, if it is implemented. Cheers!
  3. Hi I am using the Vaicom Pro, for the most part, to make air-to-air refuelling easier but, for some reason it defaults to Texaco. I want to speak to Arco but it tends to hear it as "Unco" even if I select Arco through the old-style menu. I have long come to the conclusion that the voice training is never going to work. Anyone have any hints as to how to make this work? Thanks! CptT
  4. I am trying to play a mission by Tigereagle in which ADF frequencies seem to be a key part of the mission. I have found the UHF radio and set it to ADF but I don't know how to then get symbology to allow me to follow it to the transmitter. Anyone have any ideas how this works? Cheers! CptT
  5. Hi Thanks for that. I have soldered the cable (badly) and, although it isn't pretty, it works. I'll just have to see how well it holds. I have ordered a new cable, just in case. When you say that the four wires are welded, do you mean soldered, or is there another process? What I'm wondering is, would it possible to attach these at home? Cheers! CptT
  6. Hi Thanks. I'll see how soldering the original goes. I was watching Jabbers taking his Warthog apart today and trying to see how the wires connect to the little circuit board inside. I couldn't really see but I am assuming that they are just soldered on. Looks like I'll be soldering one way or another. CptT
  7. I was actually eyeing up four conductor shielded USB cable on eBay last night. Looks pretty cheap. As you say, no reason to think that it should be anything special.
  8. Yeah. I'll give that a go. Like I say, I can probably solder it, I'm just planning for worst case scenario. Thanks.
  9. Hi I have somehow managed to cut through my Warthog stick cable. I have just bought the Monstertech desk mount and I think I must have somehow caught it in a sharp bit of that. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement cable? I am planning to solder the wires back together, but I'm not super-confident about my soldering skills. I'd like a back-up. Cheers! CptT
  10. I have the same problem. The training mode just doesn't seem to work for me. I gave up on it.
  11. Yeah. It looks like it was Malwarebytes. I have no idea why it has suddenly started to cause problems but I turned it off and I don't recall seeing a single stutter. Cheers!
  12. I was absolutely convinced that the problem was going to turn out to be the SteamVR update but, after much messing around I found out how to roll it back to an old version. I have exactly the same problem. The weird thing is that the problem gets worse during the mission. So, at the beginning of the mission it's a small blip and then, as the mission goes on the blip gets longer and longer until, at the end it can be up to about 7 seconds long. If it was an overheating problem, I would expect the problem to start out at 7 seconds when I replayed the mission but it doesn't. It appears to be some kind of issue that accumulates throughout the mission but is reset when the mission resets so not temperature (unless it cools down really fast when the mission ends) and probably not RAM usage (unless it clears at the end of each mission). I am stumped.
  13. I do use Malwarebytes but I am still clinging on to Windows 7. I'll try turning it off while I'm playing and see if it makes a difference. All options are on the table at the moment.
  14. Hi I ticked the box and gave it a try. It is definitely less irritating but hasn't solved the underlying problem. Thanks, anyway. CptT
  15. Hi Thanks for that. I will give it a go. I think that Steam VR has needed this setting for a long time ... of course, it might have had the setting for a long time and I just didn't notice. Cheers! CptT
  16. Hi I have a Vive and I have been playing DCS on it for a couple of years now. For the most part, my experience has been pretty smooth but I started playing again today after a break and I am finding that every 20 or so seconds I get a drop-out to the Vive background graphic, this is followed by a grey screen before it goes back to the game. I have experienced drop-outs from time to time in the past, but it's usually two or three times per mission for a second or so, annoying but not immersion-breaking. This currently situation, though, is totally different and is making it very hard to fly - it can drop out for up to six seconds at a time (a long time when hovering down onto a carrier in the Harrier). I have tried reverting to previous versions of DCS and this has not fixed the problem. The only other thing that I can see has changed is that Steam VR has updated to a new version. I have tried playing in both the Harrier and the Hornet and I have the same problem in both. Can anyone offer any help as to how to fix this, and has anyone else had any similar problems? Thanks! CptT
  17. Hi That's a good idea. I was really hoping that we would have an official Harrier campaign by now. Just have to wait, I guess. CptT
  18. Hi I have recently bought the Persian Gulf map and I'm looking for some missions to play on it. There doesn't seem to be a lot. There's a very nice looking Scud hunt mission but I can't find the mod assets to go with it. I have played the mission requiring you to bomb the chemical factory but it's a bit long and I'm not getting to enjoy the scenery in the dark. Any suggestions? Cheers! CptT
  19. Hi Thanks for those suggestions. I had already tried deleting the export.lua - this had limited success in that it did start carrying out commands but the Harrier still didn't show up on the PTT tab. Weegie - thanks for your post. That was a lot more technical than I was expecting to have to get at this time of the morning, but it has done the job so the early-morning brain-ache was well worth it. Now I just have to learn to use the system :) Cheers! CptT
  20. Hi I have just bought Vaicom Pro and I cannot get it to recognise my module. - I am running as Administrator - I have VA from Steam - I have deleted the "Export" from the scripts folder - I have my copy of DCS installed on a SSD and I have used the Custom DCS path to H:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World - VA is installed on the same drive as DCS I have searched on this forum, watched Hollywood's videos and read the manual. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious. I also find that when I try to do the speech training, it is not limited to the commands in the Vaicom DCS dictionary, there's a whole bunch of words in there that do not relate to DCS. Any help would be very much appreciated as this is driving me nuts. Thanks! CptT
  21. I'm wondering if it's because the "Code" label had un-boxed and I didn't press the button for it again. I've just done the next mission in the series and I've had no problems at all picking up the laser, just as long as "Code" has a box around it.
  22. I ended up flying over the target then having to come round and have another go. I could see the laser hitting the target but the plane could not.
  23. I'm doing the Vulcan Forge campaign which is the first time that I've really had do deal with targets being lased and I'm finding a couple of issues - notably trying to get the plane to see the laser. In the third mission (Hecate's Torch) if memory serves the target is being lased by an AWACS or Spectre and, looking through the NVGs there is no doubt at all where the laser is pointing, but I was pointing my Harrier right at it and it wasn't picking up the laser. I checked the code and it was fine, I checked I was in the right MFD mode and, again, everything was fine. The cross was scanning from side to side, not locked on the VVI. I flew a circuit and came back to it and it suddenly caught the laser and locked on. About the only thing I can think is that my altitude was too low (which seems odd), the angle of the plane was too low (also seems odd if the receiver is in the nose), or there's a cooldown timer on the laser receiver ... or there's something else. If anyone could comment on what is likely going wrong here, I would be very appreciative. The Hecate's Torch mission is very time dependent and expecting you to make the shot first time, which I didn't. Cheers! CptT
  24. This sounds like an excellent workaround. I will definitely give that a go on my days off.
  25. Hi Thanks for those suggestions. The scratchpad solution looks very good. Pretty much the same as using a pen and paper, I hope. I was considering using the active pause, but the fact that it has (cheat) next to it in the controls listing puts me off. I hate cheating or doing anything that reduces the realism of a game. Cheers! CptT
