Same here. Took me ages to realise my mistake.

Dixmude Campaign Mission 8 bugged - can't complete
CptTangerine replied to snodipous's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I've just had the same problem. It's a really long mission, I've hit the enemy, waited for the downed crew to be picked up, and made it home. The only thing that I can't be sure of is that I took the correct route home - I'm pretty sure of my route after picking up the downed pilots, at least as far as the home run after completing the Northern circuit through the mountains, I'm just not sure that I turned West at the right point to return home. Looking at the knee-boards, it seemed that I should turn after seeing some pylons running across the valley in front of me but I didn't see them. That said, everything else was about as expected. I don't know if the route has to be perfect for the mission to conclude as a win. I don't want to keep doing the mission as it's pretty gruelling but, other than missing a trigger-point, I can't think what else I'm doing wrong. It doesn't help that there are about 30 waypoints and the NADIR only holds 9 without there being any clear way of inputting new, accurate ones. If anyone has completed this, I would be curious to know if there were any further comments from Meatbow after picking up the downed crew. Cheers! CptT -
Problems with take-off - Who can help me?
CptTangerine replied to Nightmare_X's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I had a majore headache with this helo until I got a decent stick. It is amazing what a difference a high-accuracy joystick makes. I was pretty upset about it, actually, as I had spent a lot of time converting my Saitek X45 stick into a proper helicopter setup. It wasn't even nearly accurate enough for flying most of the helos in DCS. If you have a spiky joystick, it will seriously impair your ability to fly the Gazelle. Most of the time I'm moving the stick a couple of millimetres to change direction. -
It's still working for me. I have got out of the habit of resetting the trim as it makes things so unpredictable. I tend to just keep re-trimming as I go.

That would be very cool. For a while now I have been thinking that it would be really good to have a dynamic campaign like the one in Enemy Engaged where all the pieces were laid out on the map at the beginning and would engage each other across time to capture points with the player influencing the battleground with their performance. In that model the game was essentially over when you ran out of flyable aircraft to pilot or you won the war. Likewise, you could have a roster of pilots for a campaign. If you run out of pilots, campaign over. You could then decide whether to run a SAR mission to rescue the pilot or abandon them. I wouldn't limit it to that, I would definitely have standalone SAR missions rescuing people from oil rigs, lakes, mountains, etc. both in military and civilian scenarios but, if there was ever a comprehensive dynamic campaign, it could be incorporated if there was a will to do so. I have a suspicion that most PCs would struggle to run an entire battlefield's-worth of assets from the outset though.

Ideally, what I would really like, is to recreate SAR3 in DCS. Almost all of the elements are there. And for those who just like blowing things up, there would still be that option.

Hi Given how early the Bo-105 is in development, could I put in an early request for a Search & Rescue variant? By this I mean one with a door winch and some people to be winched to safety. It seems that this is the one thing that we are missing in the helicopter line-up. I'm as excited as the next man to get a new helicopter but we're sort of doubling up on roles at the moment: Kiowa and Gazelle, Mi-8 and Huey, Ka-50 and Mi-24. The Bo-105 is likely to simply be a bit of an amalgam of the Huey and Gazelle unless it has something to set it apart and give us an incentive to buy it. Just my tuppence-worth. Good luck with the project! Cheers! CptT.

This is obviously something that has been recently introduced. It was working fine a while ago. I stopped playing the Harrier for a while as I was really into the Huey missions again and it was fine before I stopped. I had only fired it up the other day as I was trying out an Index I'd been lent. Now I know it doesn't work, I really want to play it. I can do hot Harrier starts if I set the Harrier as Player instad of as Client but that means that I can't have multiple scenarios in one session.

I am having this problem with the Harrier, even in single-player.

You're right. Autopilot still does nothing. I don't feel the need to use it very often but it would be useful for when I'm tuning the ADF - I do have a co-pilot so it's not a total cheat. It doesn't seem to do anything anyway. I checked that the "Autopilot Availability" box was ticked and it was. I can live without it but, as I say, it would be useful to have on occasion.
-
Yes, I did. After reading this post, I went exploring in the options menu and found that. I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm pretty sure that's the problem. I used to have a joystick with very, very weak springs and I set the trimmer to this. I now have a Warthog which has a wrist-crushing spring and a little trimming would be nice again. I'm also assuming that it's why my autopilot doesn't work as well. I had a hairy moment in the campaign where my co-pilot allegedly took over the controls and then I went careening all over the sky for a moment before I realised that it wasn't happening.

My trim button doesn't seem to do anything. I got very used to using it to centre my stick in the Ka-52 and the Gazelle. I'll give the above a go too.

Hi I found the culprit - it was the motion smoothing. I turned that off and, so far, the motion still seems smooth but the distortion is completely gone. Thanks for all your suggestions! CptT

Finally got to test this out and I have found that the blurring effect is definitely better with AR off but it is still there a bit. It seems to be worst around placed items, in particular around the FARP that I have placed in the Normandy map (that I use for general purpose heli practice). Any other suggestions to get rid of it altogether? Cheers!

Thanks. I'll give that a go.

Hi I have just upgraded my Win 7 install to Win 10 and have had a number of weird things happen. The latest is that when I play a mission there is a strange distortion that comes and goes. It basically makes it look as though the headset is filled with water or has oil flowing over the lenses. I have mostly played UH-1 and it most notably affects the area around the rotors. The clouds through the rotors are very badly affected and one of the rotor tips looks like it's melting every time it passes. There is a general effect over the landscape, although not nearly as bad. I tried turning down the PD from 2.0 to 1.4 and this has helped but it's still very noticeable. I didn't have this problem at all with Win 7. Any thoughts on how to fix this would be much appreciated. Cheers! CptT

Hi Thanks for the replies. I took the very unwelcome plunge last night of "upgrading" to Windows 10. When the PC deigns to see my gaming SSD with DCS on, the problem seems to have gone away. I'm still waiting to see whether it not seeing the H: drive is going to be an ongoing issue or not. I am running Norton and MalwareBytes. I know that there were some problems with MB and DCS but that seemed to go away when I excluded the folder. Cheers! CptT

Hi I have recently had problems where my PC won't shut down. I was attributing this to Steam (and I think it partly was) but having done some Windows updates I am now finding that it is only when I have been playing DCS that the PC won't shut down. I have also noticed that if I quit DCS and then go to fire it up again, it won't start. From this, I am assuming that something, somehwere in DCS isn't shutting down properly. Has anyone had this problem and are there any known solutions? Cheers! CptT

Hi I am having some real problems with the slingload mission in Worlds Apart Mission 2. I get the load to the target area and the cock up at the point of dropping the load. Is there any way of getting a second chance at this within the mission, just so that I don't have to go through all the ground work at the airbase? If I go back to the pickup point, can I just fly back and pick up another one? I l know I could just try this but by the point I have screwed this up, I really can't be bothered to go back and give it a go. I will, if no-one here has tried it and can answer the question, but I'd rather not if it's a waste of time. Cheers! CptT

Hi I have a Vive with a TPCast wireless setup. When I go into multiplayer I have had it on a few occasions when as soon as I get to the lobby my headset goes black and the light on the side goes orange. I assumed that the problem was with the 2A / 2B HDMI cable that goes from the TPCast unit to the Vive but I've changed that out and I have the same problem. Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated. I have recently upgrade to 32GB RAM. Cheers! CptT

I have recently tried to come back to the A10C. My favourite mission has always been Smerch Hunt. The last time I played this mission I was using TrackIR but I'm not playing in VR. I'm finding it very hard to get the CDU programmed while the coordinates are being read out and would really appreciate the addition of a "Say again" option in the radio to allow the last transmission to be repeated. It would definitely lower the levels of profanity within my house. CptT

Cool. Thanks guys.

Hi I have recently come back to the Gazelle, after more or less giving up on it due to it's very squirrelly flight model, and I'm running through the campaign. I notice that in most missions, targets will be lased by a drone. This was very useful when I was playing Harrier missions as it has a laser receiver in the nose but I can't see what use this is in the Gazelle as it does not, as far as I can see, have any sort of laser detection kit. Am I wrong, or am I missing the point? Any pointers gratefully received. Cheers! CptT

Thanks. I've added both "Total" and "Unco" to the list. I'll give that a try. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

One thing that I found was causing a problem was using microphone boost. It thought that there was an "F" in everything I said. I turned the boost down to zero and that fixed it down to the point of just normal problems.
