Alphajet E has a Thomson-CSF Type 902 gyro gunsight since the beginning . It was upgraded to a more modern in the 2000s.

It s strange that the F-5E-3 had the AN/ALR-87 RWR and its control panel with all options, but, some how, it was not used !!!!!! There is any real F-5 pilot whom can enlighten us ?

you are right, it is a LAU/32 7x2.75" . The one with the 4x2.75" is an adapter for the FAP G91R4.

What about the R4 ? It was the only model who fought in real life with the Força Aerea Portuguesa.

The portugueses R4, had a similar system, they remove 2 guns and ad a TACAN in place.

The G-91R4 did fly combat mission in Guinea and mozambique. For the records, the AIM-9B was tested only on the R4 variant without success. It was used on the G-91R3 with the Portugese Air Force.

The real F-5E could have its nose changed with the recce nose ( old model like the RF-5A one ). This operation took too much time, it was almost never performed. It is not possible to do the same with the RF-5E TigerEye ( long nose ).
