  1. I found a place where they're in the same ballpark. They're both equally good at destroying our frame rates when switched on :P
  2. It's a (spam)bot.
  3. Hopefully you won't mind coming back when it arrives and telling us how it is for you (what software it makes no difference in, what software it completely reinvigorates for you). I'm still running my aged GTX8800 partly because of the mess of releases where we've had how many model numbers released this year alone from one vendor, combined with not even be able to tell if higher number = higher performing card with any level of consistency either. In all likelihood this will just drive me away from upgrading to any 'new' 'premium' purchase and I'll settle for a $200 GTX 460 instead. Or was it a GTX 465.. I lost track (honestly, I'm not making fun of the matter).
  4. Adding the &hd=1 works for me with the tag just the same. Example here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1017279&postcount=2
  5. It also means hold the left Windows key, whilst pressing Home. Don't do them in series.
  6. I am Jack's total lack of surprise. Often, despite exchange rates, electronics items priced $ USD = £ GBP (or near enough)
  7. Try changing the URL, may not work but it helps sometimes with the restrictions to reformat it this way:
  8. Forsooth ;)
  9. I'll settle for not letting it rest long enough to gather much dust in the first place, and a can of compressed air, than make any such aftermarket adjustments to the switches - but that's just me :)
  10. Hiya, I'm only a bit surprised that you've all let the retailers off the hook so lightly for this. You're probably just sympathising with them on the fact they haven't received the shipments, and if they had, they would have sold/sent them to you, but still remember: - You are their customer, yes you're TM's too, but directly you are ShopBLT's or whoever's customer. - They stand to risk losing your custom if they don't pull their weight and try to hurry TM along (or more usually for smaller outfits, the middleman distributors who typically have ownership/domination on specific regions or retail chains). - They should be showing they care about you as a customer, insofar as wanting you to return again and/or act as a referral, and keeping you better informed as to the causes of delays and remediations (definitions of ETA aside, a moving target should either be hit or move with a purpose, not float aimlessly). It maybe you've not let them off lightly at all and this is just a wrong perception, and I'm not saying you should have done that instead of taking it upon yourself to go straight to TM, but it is what it looks like. So you may not have had an answer from TM yet, but have you had an actual decent answer from the retailers regarding their efforts? Are any of them even considering alternative distributors who could get them there faster (from Europe even)? After all, it may pinch the profit a little, but if you then become the first stockist you'd probably gain some pre-order cancellations from competitors anyway. Perhaps I'm being naive, I remember in the shop we ran that if a customer was 'more trouble than he's worth' we'd say fine, show them the door, and move on. But that's not a tact we'd have used for any reasonable customer who was looking to buy from us or our competition.
  11. I get the littlest amount of movement but it isn't affecting the steadiness of the control's current position (i.e. doesn't make the inputs wobble back and forth) so just means that until I hit (inside a mm or two) the tactile range to push the throttle forward or back it's a little loose. I really hadn't even noticed it except to check after your post though. I have a similar range of movement on the stick itself actually, it is very slight, but in that instance it can nudge the control input up or down a little. Still isn't presenting itself as anything of a problem though, as with the throttle it is steady where it is left, what would have been a problem for me is slop that includes drift or imprecise readings when stationary, neither of which happen and the rest of the action of both throttle and stick movements are exemplary IMO.
  12. Serial #: 00705 (Throttle), 00405 (Stick) Location: Classified :p
  13. Yes they should, except they're not available/released yet. First sighting of those should be at a show next weekend (check saitek's blog), and they may even be hinting at selling off a few units there, though that may only apply to their other stock.
  14. Regarding the deadzone, that was a funny thing for me. I'm used to having to intentially deadzone every stick I've ever had due to problems at the center, so there I am goofing around in the calibration screen and I pull the stick towards me... hmm what's this.. it's not coming straight down, it's deflecting in a small linear angle to the left.. center it.. ok it goes back to center.. pull it down.. same deflection. I was just thinking what to do about this when I realised it was only happening because it's so damn precise and it was my action that was wrong :D Previously I'd have never noticed it in another stick because the deadzoning would have nullified it for me. Whilst this is causing me to have some oddly unclean turns when I'm at 90 degrees and pulling pitch to whip around (and inadvertently rolling a bit in the process) I think I'm just going to try and get used to it and improve my handling rather than do anything to de-sensitize like with a deadzone setting. Just one more way that this stick rises above the (general) competition though.
  15. For whatever you want them to be for ! :) They're the LEDs that will be programmable, once TARGET supports them (currently it does not, as the software is beta).

    Game Engines!

New addition to the series of vids released by the Outerra dev team today, just popped up on my subs list: FwtKHbl0pjs&hd=1 Notes/disclaimers: Outerra is a terrain engine; the other parts you see in it like vehicles etc. are primarily for testing and demonstration to would-be licensees. That means no point bitching about lack of realism in flight models or cockpits or so-forth. I have, however, become something of a fan in watching the development of this engine and see a lot of positive things it is trying to achieve - and with what I believe is a very small number (a couple) of developers. Good stuff, and looking forward to some games that will make use of it in the future :)
  17. Hey chaps, I know it might seem easy to say, but don't fret about the wait - we've all at some point had the same thing, and I know in this particular case that when it does get delivered, all will be forgiven! It's going to have to be a bloody amazing follow-up product to get me to part with this and buy a different stick for at least 5 years if not 10, so I know a few more days wouldn't be a deal breaker. I even thought I'd continue using my X52 Pro for DCS:BS, but I've completely changed my mind on that now and it's going to be relegated to the buddy machine instead.
  18. Hah. I'm the reverse, I often don't need a light in my room, thanks to routers, keyboards, sticks, etc., with their LED arrays providing a constant but subtle glow :D
  19. My own OCD from DCS:BS means I refuse to start any flight/mission without first pressing rctrl+enter for the controls box, so I just use that for confirmation of control placement.
  20. It is true. The box shouldn't say it is fragile, it should say "Warning: The meatbag carrying me is fragile"
  21. Hi Andysim, Uncheck the option I've highlighted from within the Control Panel > Game Controllers applet, not via SST, so it looks the same way as the attached image.
  22. Note that the Heaven demo is almost deliberately biased to showcase a tessellation overdose. So a card that doesn't perform well with the heaven demo compared to another card, isn't indicative of 'real world performance'.
  23. 640k :) (i.e. IBM DOS normal 512k barrier + himem extension) Developers need a lot of RAM, processing heap/crash dumps are a bitch. For gaming and productivity, unless you do huge video processing and don't like disk paging, 4GB should be plentiful on a 64-bit OS. More than 4GB likely won't even get used unless you're very fond of running multiple large apps at once, run servers, or have some other special and known need for the memory - at least for the foreseeable future, though when it comes to computers, future is a very relative term.
  24. I use Shields Up service to check my firewall setups from the outside (see image). Closed or stealthed ports aren't a bad thing. If mine were NOT stealthed, THEN I'd be worried/annoyed. Mine can be stealthed and yet I have no issues with connecting outward to anything. If you have a port open on your pc, it means you are (or intend to) hosting software there that outsiders are allowed to get into your network to connect to. Otherwise, ports will open as needed and close as needed. If you host a server, and the port that host is listening on is still closed/stealthed to the outside world, then that will be a problem and prevent other users from connecting to your server. That, however, is almost always a router/firewall config issue within your own broadband modem (that you have the power to reconfigure) or Windows' own firewall. Routers will often refer to the capability of allowing you to run a server for others to connect to as part of their port forwarding feature, and when used to point a router's port to a machine ip/port on your own network, then they will present the port in an open state to outsiders.
  25. Yep, should arrive at my work place tomorrow. I also went for the expedited delivery option for this reason. Amazon are pretty good at delivery (in my experience), but the options sometimes vary a little depending on whether I get them sent to my home or place of work and the delivery method chosen so I went for the fastest one for a few quid more.
