  1. Idk, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me (as someone who owns Normandy 1944 and the Channel). I think the argument can definitely be made that if someone doesn't own any WWII maps, they should skip right to Normandy 2. I'd also add that we don't actually know exactly how this map will develop over time. Urga has expanded Syria multiple times, even adding in additional airfields within the previous boundaries when they have done so (e.g. Rosh Pina). The area of the Channel map is covered by Normandy 2, even if airfields are absent from the early access version. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of these were added in a future update to the map, which does make the Channel map somewhat related to Normandy 2, even if the extent to which this is the case is initially limited.
  2. The development screenshots look great! I know that there was some mention of improvements to the high fidelity areas from the old Normandy map, but I was wondering how the Normandy 2 low-fidelity areas compare to the Normandy 1 high-fidelity areas and to what we see on the Channel map? I see that photos of Dover and its Chain Home station were included, but these are outside of the area marked as high-fidelity for Normandy 2. Is this representative of what the "low-fidelity" areas are going to look like (if so, this is very impressive), or are there pockets of higher detail sprinkled throughout the low detail areas of the map?
  3. @Bananabrai As far as I am aware, yes, this does work in multiplayer. That said, I have only tested in dedicated servers, so it is possible that it doesn't work if you are hosting and playing on the same machine. Due to some funkiness with my ISP provided modem/router, I can't open the ports needed to test that.
  4. @cercata I'm wondering if you are still experimenting with your software and the bhaptics tactsuit. I currently use a bass shaker and it has dramatically improved my immersion, especially in the warbirds. My hope would to be to use both at the same time, separating certain signals like g-forces away from the bass shaker and into the suit while using both for certain other signals (such as AoA, flaps and gear, and cannon fire).
  5. The bis is still one of my favorite birds in DCS (it pretty much forces you to either become a better pilot or die in a spectacular fireball). I'd love to see a cockpit refresh at some point, and I'd be happy to pay for it. I'd also be more than happy to pay full price for an F-13 (need to put those F-4's in their place ).
  6. This was on a live stream for the release of the Channel map. Not sure if there is a better example elsewhere though.
  7. Lol, I was about to say, I swear I just used this a couple weeks ago
  8. Huh. Well, the images above were taken today in a dedicated multiplayer server as a client. Maybe it got fixed and it wasn't mentioned?
  9. Wait, really? I used it to remove an inconvenient hangar on Beirut Intl from a multiplayer mission (large AI aircraft hit their wingtips on it). I haven't seen any issues with this on my dedicated server thus far.
  10. I can confirm from my time working with Cap that the change in their approach to the tutorial content is both intentional and significant. When I'm included on a tutorial, we typically pass notes on the changelogs and discuss the specifics of what needs to be covered days ahead of time. On recording day, we talk through the plan for the video and made sure that the information we are presenting is correct to the best of our collective knowledge. We then do a series of practice flights to make sure that concepts are understood by all. Depending on the complexity of the topic, we sometimes do an unrecorded dry run. Then we record the content itself. Due to the preparation done ahead of time, this seldom requires more than two takes to get everything right. Should we expect the AIM-120C to be in our inventory as our medium range A2A missile in addition to/in lieu of the Meteor?
  11. Well, if you happen to hear any specifics from those responsible, feel free to drop them here. I would like to be sure as well
  12. Cool, that more or less lines up with my thoughts on what is going on. I did notice that I had more or less identical manifold pressures for both tests. Feel free to drop a link to your original post if you have one handy I am still curious to know exactly how ED has this coded. Propeller aerodynamics can quickly get too complicated to simulate in a timely manner as advance speed and RPM increase. So either this effect is an artifact of the coding or they are applying some form of heuristic to allow for the sim to account for this without sacrificing too much performance.
  13. Yeah, I initially started playing with this in the TF-51 specifically for an air race and came up with very similar numbers to what you posted. In terms of the altitude, yeah I was just being lazy and wanted to make sure I had a consistent altitude for the test since I was looking for a comparison between the two RPM settings rather than a true determination of max speed.
  14. I am curious if things like compressibility, dynamic pressure, slip ratios, and AoA are modeled for propellers in DCS, and to what extent if they are. Testing in the sim seems to suggest that this might be the case, as slightly higher speeds are achievable with slightly lower than max RPM (tested in the P-51D-25-NA at sea level using WEP at 3000RPM and 2700RPM), indicating that a slightly coarser pitch is resulting in improved efficiency.
  15. So my understanding is that the Mirage IIIEA is being developed as an AI asset for the Falklands/Malvinas map (along with the harrier FRS.1, A-4, Canberra, IA-58, and a few others). Their intent is to go on and produce full modules for the IA-58, FRS.1, and Mirage IIIEA, but bear in mind that developing all of the subsystems and flight model for a player module takes orders of magnitude more time than the AI module will.
  16. Having the ability to toggle the mask on and off would definitely be a handy feature. There are times (like on a crowded carrier deck or in a busy server) when those extra frames would be very welcome, but I've pretty much decided that I can't record for youtube (at an acceptable resolution and FOV) with the additional cropping I have to do for the new mask. Does the HMDMask.fx workaround break integrity Check?
  17. Flappie, the group I fly with has noted the exact same crashes to our dedicated servers that use Skynet. Our internal testing has also shown that the crashes seem to be caused by damaged search radars burning for a time and then dying. Has anyone found a workaround for this problem? (I can provide additional logs if it helps, but they look more or less identical to the ones already posted)
