Herewith link to a Modman package;

I'll authorize the .png file you've uploaded. If you wish, you can re-upload the Modman file package for automatic installation via Modman.

Leaving office right now...-

Please make sure you say in the package on witch aspect-ratio this works best....before others are clamming that they still have a oval.

or even better:

Wait with the release until I will make (or someone else) pre-sets for all kind of aspect-ratios like I wrote. ;)

I will have time to do this tomorrow early in the morning (0600 UTC+1 I'm German - while watching the F1 qualifications ) so - lets say in approx 14 hours there will be all kind of pre-sets for different aspect-ratios from my side!

Aye - should be evident via Modman:

Also compatible with multimonitor setups?

Yes - other as it is handled in DCSBlackShark it will only effect the "camera" view. - so it will work the same on m.-monitors.

- now I have to go... or I will make overtime again.... :P..

-this comes from the a mobile device:

I will add the normal Triple-head - and the "very special" like 22:10 (on my 5monitor-SoftTH setup) aspect-ratios tomorrow morning.

Edit:

and than I/we will see if it is possible to add a housing to the tube - with a alpha-channel (The part that will cover partial the view at the borders..) If not - this will directly go to the "wish list".

Is it possible to make the mask change based on FOV so when you zoom out you don't magically see more angle and when you zoom in you aren't artificially restricted?

If you can get focus at infinity to blur near cockpit... would make you king for a week!~

sorry - no! only with heavy editing and .dll hacks - or better : the devs would do it.

This NVG sight you have is only a post-processing overlay - not a real contend of the rendered image.

edit:

@Hender

what you have done to get so much negative rep?! - you sure need some +rep- so +1 from me.

...what have you done?! - still shocking my head...

;) -pm me and tell me!

If it's because you like to listen to Alanis Morissette while watching old "Friends" series on DVD - don't worry -I do this too! :P

-still wondering what can this bad to get so much neg.rep. ...

Attached are following aspect-ratio pre-sets for triple-head configurations and special ones:

1:1 (special)

2:1 (special)

4:1 (3x 4:3)

5:1 (special)

9:4 (3xportrait 4:3)

11:5 (special)

12:5 (3xportrait 5:4)

15:4 (3x 5:4)

16:3 (3x 16:9/16:10)

17:16 (5x portrait 16:9) >http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80331

27:16 (3xportrait 16:9)

BTW: I wasen't able to create a effect like in the edited example:

Hopefully (didn't tested -so fingers crossed) this also supports the function to add a alpha-channel...

So it is possible to add the effect of a covered Border - to simulate the view to actually wearing something in front your head...

These is a quick edit in gimp to show you what I mean:

Screen_111014_124227.jpg

The original without blocking borders:

Screen_1-111014_124227.jpg

...i think it would add allot to the immersion.

So I will probably open a Thread in the "wish-list".

Video

Hi guys I really like this mod. It really helps with the immersion. I made a 15 min video using the new FOV.

BTW watch in HD and fullscreen

Nice mod but really the most of the area around the NVGs should be blacked out and not seen....

investigating right now to get this done via a .dll hooking DirectX Overlay that I can program with autohotkey to the same keyboard sequence that activates the NVG.

But I had until now no luck to get it working in 64bit DCS.

and this

http://www.autohotkey.net/~MasterFocus/AHK/Lib/GPF/Doc/ could be a robust solution with full-screen mode.

But maybe someone of you find more time to fiddle around with this.

should be also be doable with VisualBasic -through opening a window on-top of DCS when you run it in "windowed mode" - but had no time to look really into this subject.

I have already done a PNG with transparency for the Mask:

ANVS9Mask.jpg

without the mask:

Screen_111015_104314.jpg

with the mask:

ANVS9.jpg

but the best solution would be if the Devs would implement a second layer on-top of the NVG post-processing (that is able to track your used aspect-ratio) and do it by default inside DCS.

and a ++ would be if they implement a Z-detection that will blur everything outside of this mask - and also blur only the cockpit parts inside the NVG view - this to simulate the focus to infinity.

And the solution to be still able to manipulate the cockpit would be if you have a zone around the mouse-pointer that blend out this effect - so you have a sharp image - lets say...in a radius of 100 pixels around the mouse-cross-hair. -to simulate you are focusing your view in back to the cockpit - outside the NVG.

I love it but one or two things.

1: modman said it installed fine and it didn't. Just did it manually and all was fine.

2: This is a hell of a lot harder. I'm getting there though.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Good news is on the way -

Managed to use DLL hooking to show the mask any-time I want on top of the simulation (in full-screen and in windowed mode)- by only using a key press to toggle the mask on/off -and I'm able to to set it on the same key-combo like turning on/off the NVG.:)

The bad news is that it seems to work only on a 32bit version of DCS.:noexpression:

Will release the info "how to" later when I find time to write it all down -

... in the meantime you can help me to debug in this thread:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1308616#post1308616

This -should be also a way to show whatever you want while in a mission: Clipboards, the todays-newspaper ... and so on.

Hi Folks - what you see in the video is actual in-game-capture of DCS-BS in Win7-64bit !! ( again: this is not edited!)

Before I will tell "how to" I need some volunteers that will test for unseen bugs -and maybe help me out to streamline the installation

processes.

There will be still a different "Mask" for different aspect-ratio needed.

- but please hold your horses(!).

I'm still not able to do this in the DCS-64bit version....

So if you :

- know how to edit files in Notepad++

- have a copy of Black Shark and DCS-A10.

- know how to handle frustration....

- know how to write good bug-reports that I can recreate following you instruction.

- have at last two monitors and know how to use them in DCS to show exports of e.g. MFCDs/Abris...

- have common sense and humour!

not necessary but it would be helpful :

- know how to edit PNG images in Gimp (or equivalent)

- have a dual boot of WinXP and Win7 (we have to test it also in the 32bit version of DCS-A10

... than write me a PM with the headline "NVG-Tweak" !

...and please tell me also if you have C++ and/or VisualBasic programming skills (not necessary but it would be helpful -I for instance have no such sufficient programming skills...)

...and please tell me also your time-zone and when you are usually able to answer e-mails.
