Well i think there is really somthing wrong with mig 21 flight model, somthing crazy or I am wrong?

As i know when u want to test flight model of any plane/module just fly straight to the sky and do tail slide, to see how plane reacts. And i found that there may be somthing interesting...

spiral of death at 13 sec

another one at 1 min

strange aileron roll at 2:13 sec

I think u should just watch the video i made.

I have replay tracks for this but they are not synchronized (probably another bug) and every time i play them everything is diffrend.

Interesting what did you do to depart the Mig21 aside a 1/2 hammerhead stall and what did you do to recover?:joystick:

Nothing, its just Mig 21 flight model magic, it just happens :D The question is, that spiral is realistic or not?

I think you are not using the proper words.

The flight model is something made out of many parts. Suppose you see a flaw at one part... is "the flight model" in its entirety wrong?

Secondly. In any simulation when you reach the extremes "the numbers" can go "crazy".

Remember for example F15 FM has received some fine tuning lately at some of these extremes. Sure... the Mig21 can also be improved but to suggest "the flight model" is wrong because the model goes crazy at some extreme... is at least not scientific.

I mean... what I see is a Mig21 starting to accelerate backwards from almost zero speed... what should I expect? Reality? I don't even know what it is in this case... did any of the actual Mig21 were put to this situation and was its behavior observed? or at least some wind tunnel tasts?

my 2 cents.

i have just recorded track with 1.2.16 version , saw that the anormal spiral of death was not exist on 1.2.16 version and i noticed that the falling motion seems more natural then 1.5.1

yes, there happens spirals again but positions has always changed while falling down and i noticed that the falling speed was slower than 1.5.1.

but if you watch the same track on 1.5.1, it shows only spiral of death and faster falling speed.

i tried falling tests on 1.5.1 and noticed there is another vesion of death trap, it is crazy aileron

roll fall as seen on peters video. it is similar with spiral of death motion but only rolling version, again no position change, it ends on ground :)

a little warning:)

i have lost activations while testing that issue between 1.2.16 and 1.5.1:doh:

1.2.16.trk

Thank you for your report.

This is partially in connection with reported "AoA 36 degrees lock" bug report, and partially with forces calculations during the roll.

Fix will be available in next patch (hopefully).

Power through superb knowledge, training and teamwork.

I don't have a good track of it, but I have also experienced the magical 120-RPM aileron roll. For me, it occurred at an altitude of roughly 12km, just around Mach 2 in level flight. I went to roll inverted and pull down for a descent, but as soon as i deflected the ailerons, it snapped into the super-speed roll. I was practically cutting a tornado across the sky...

EDIT: developer responded while i was typing. Glad to hear that the issue is being tracked and worked on :D

it seems the spiral and aileron roll issue fixed with 1.5.2 update, thank you LN!

but now ,there is no more dangerous situation because aircraft corrects itself too quick.;)
