lasvideo Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) As a single player, I have really enjoyed the various in game missions for the A10C a lot! But they do need some attention to make them usable. List of 2.5 In Game A10C Missions that are bugged 1. "Surrounded" - Map has completely changed from 1.5 and the attacking insurgents mentioned in game never happen. Played this one a lot in 1.5 and was shocked how different and dysfunctional it is in 2.5. 2. "Weapons Training" - Both 1.5 and 2.5 have the problem that all waypoints are in the air. And below them on the ground (where they should be), none of the various targets mentioned in the briefing exist. Thank you and others for taking the time to mention these issues, personally I know how disfunctional most if not all mission based in the caucasus map will be now, with the trees, map positions changed and any other introduces bugs, but they can't all be corrected overnight (I do however take note of any issues and would fix them in a heart beat if it was possible and up to me, but there is so much to do as a whole and you can only do one mission at a time, so priorities have to be set). ie: I have been correcting the Su-25T Georgian Oil war campaign with a proximately 100 missions and as a guestimate I can tell you: It is taking me about 1-2 hours per mission just to re-position all ground units, modify advancing units waypoints. Another 1-2 hours to fix other issues and test if things are working as a whole. That is a Total of "200 to 400 hours" / 8hrs a day = 25 to 50 days of work if you did it as a normal job for one campaign. We are all suffering the same anguish, but we need to be patient. No probs, just as a side note, have your tried my corrected versions on the ED websites USER file section, they had extensive work in dcs 1.5 and may work better that what is in 2.5 at the moment (They will have issues also now, until they are updated once again). https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?PER_PAGE=100&set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=MadDog-IC&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter I just did a quick test of surrounded and the main things that stand out are: All waypoints for vehicles that travel on road, need to be re-snapped to the road, otherwise they are positioned all over the map and not on the actual road (May cause unknown consequences). All aircraft need to be re-snapped into their parking bays and landing waypoints re-snapped to the runways (If this isn't done, AI aircraft will not move or take off). A couple of tanks in trees need moving. Quick test with AI flying A-10c seem to work fine. Issues with smerch hunt: Waypoint and parking needed re-snaping Few AAA and smerch in trees JTAC blind, has no LOS (Line of Sight) even when placed next to target, moved JTAC and Smerch to get LOS. Try these quickly edited versions for v2.5 and let me know how you go, I think there is an "Line of sight" issue with the JTAC, in editor it shows no LOS with target for all (Laser, IR,etc), even if placed right next to target, so I expect that not to work. MadDog-IC Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) Thanks Mad Dog. If these are altered dupes of the originals, should I rename them or not place them where all the others are located? You can just over write the originals, but you will have to re-do that everytime you update DCS, or you can just put them in your saved games folder and play from there. Re-download the smerch hunt.miz, fixed the JTAC LOS issue. Cheers, Ian. We're going off topic here, but which missions do you mean? Are you referring to the island just south of POTI in the weapons training missions? That appears fine for me in those missions. lasvideo Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 Nice job Mad Dog. I really like how you started this updated version on the ground ready to taxi to runway instead of already in the air like the old version. The trees add a nice challenge to the old version. The roads are a bit hard for me to see flying at 6000 in my A10C (VR) .But the VR Zoom helps. I only had time to "dip my toes" in it, but so far Im really enjoying your revision. Keep up the good work! BTW I just added "2" to each file name and placed it where all the others are located. Win 10 I7 6700K @ 4.0 GHZ. 16 gig memory GTX 1070 SSD

Ian, When I removed all older versions and updated to 2.5, I found the Save Games folder was not where I have come to expect it to be (Users/Tom/Saved Games). Is Win 10 hiding that folder? See attached. https://plus.google.com/photos/photo/102385542845985326590/6529937773194109362?authkey=CIi81M2skZGFew Ive been flying DCS for a year and am very familiar with the placement of the Save Games folder (Users/Tom/ Saved Games /DCS Open Beta) in 1.5. I decided to remove all the various versions of DCS (to clean house) and redownload / install just 2.5. I also saved and renamed the OLD Saved Games folder on my desktop (just in case) and deleted it from where it usually is (Users/Tom/ Saved Games /DCS Open Beta) in the interest of making a clean install. Several hours later I boot up 2.5 and it runs just fine. But when I go to find (Users/Tom/ Saved Games /DCS Open Beta) there is NO Saved Games folder there. And yet it seems to remember my HOTAS config and Kneeboards. Does DCS 2.5 store its Saved Games folder in a different place then 1.5 ? (FYI I did run clean and repair for good measure). lasvideo Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 I'm confused by this. Do you mean the targets on the test range are not there in the weapons training missions? The ones marked with smoke? No. I mean the in game single player mission called "Weapon Training" has a series of waypoints where weapons should be on the ground. But there are no weapons and all the waypoints are up in the air. In most missions the weapons and waypoint indicators are both on the ground. Win 10 I7 6700K @ 4.0 GHZ. 16 gig memory GTX 1070 SSD

Is Win 10 hiding that folder? Showing other system hidden files in picture so option must be on to show all system files. Usually saves in the expected places, ie: c:\Users\TOM\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta. Don't have windows 10, but may be different if your run DCS without or without admin privleges. Out of interest check this directory to see if it has put it there. c:\Users\TOM\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Does DCS 2.5 store its Saved Games folder in a different place then 1.5 ? (FYI I did run clean and repair for good measure). Im so confused......Not generally, except for the separate DCS or DCS.openbeta folders depending on stable or beta branches. Clean and repair will have no bearing on the saved games folder, never touches it. Bit of a mistery, others have had that issue before, but never took much notice about a solution, I think they had to run DCS as admin, didn't initially install with run as adminstator. Thats all of got on that, added "weapons training.miz" to other missions message for ya. lasvideo Posted March 7, 2018 Author Posted March 7, 2018 I figured it out. When I decided to clean house before DLing and installing 2.5, I went to where Saved Games normally is stored and dragged it to the Desktop. I also renamed it. As a way of archiving those files if I needed them. I figured DCS wouldnt see that folder where it normally was and would generate a new one when I installed 2.5. Well apparently it still knew that was its Saved Games folder on a deeper level that my renaming the folder didnt touch. I tested this by temporarily putting this folder in the trash so DCS couldnt see it. On boot up 2.5 didnt know who I was or my password. When I dragged it out of the trash and placed back on the desktop, my renamed folder was now called Saved Games again. And on bootup DCS ran as normal. Pretty strange. But at least now I know where it is :) Win 10 I7 6700K @ 4.0 GHZ. 16 gig memory GTX 1070 SSD

Glade you got it sorted Original reply: AFAIK the default Windows 10 'Saved Games' folder is in it's usual location but you may have moved it yourself without realising it ? To find out if you have changed the default location, type 'default save locations' into Windows Search and it should take you to these System settings: That should give you an idea where to look and/or decide if you want to change the location.
