Making Sense of HAFUs

First off, many thanks to Chuck for his excellent Hornet guide.

Here are the HAFU symbols (attached below). Been studying it. In trying to make sense of it in a quick summary way, would it be right to say the following...?

1 Any Yellow - Your radar has picked it up but you have not identified it. Therefore Ambiguous or Unknown.

2 Any Green (except *) - Your radar has picked it up and at least you have identified it as Friendly.

3 Any Red (except *) - Your radar has picked it up and at least you have identified it as Hostile.

4* 3/4 Size HAFUs

a. Red Diamond - Your radar hasn't picked it up, it was donated and is confirmed Hostile.

b. Green Circle - Your radar hasn't picked it up, it was donated and is confirmed Friendly.

Cheers!

No, Chuck's guide is incorrect unfortunately. I'll send him a message so he can fix it.

Here is a correct description: https://drive.google.com/open?id=17C0jnvo6xdFBQwyvwD3Brpv-ChVEH3nJ

(Correlated onboard tracks = onboard + offboard).

OK, thanks! But now I am more confused. Would appreciate it if you could help define/explain the following:-

1. Onboard = From own radar?

2. Offboard = Another plane's radar like F/F and Surveillance?

3. F/F Donor vs F/F PPLI - What is the difference?

4. PPLI = Precise Participant Location Indication - What does it mean exactly?

5. C2 = Command and Control? Is it AWACs, friendly ground radar? Is it the same as Surveillance?

6. Why are the F/F PPLI and C2 symbols the same in each row?

(See attached)

Thanks!

UPDATE 20 Aug 2020: Added some of my own notes to Chuck's Guide on HAFU symbols.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. F/F donor tracks are tracks that come from another fighter (ie the fighter is broadcasting what it sees). PPLI is a special track that contains information about that (friendly donor) aircraft, such as its position, fuel state, callsign, weapons on board, etc. This is how friendlies in link16 transmit their position.

4. See above

5. Ingame right now the only C2 asset is AWACS. IRL there are others. C2 and SURV are pretty much synonyms ingame.

6. Just how the symbology is

Thanks!

On Pt 6, I think I get it. In the sim they are just Friendly Fighter and AWACS 'indicators'.

But there are some tracks that cannot be locked up (TDC Depress) because they were not detected by your own radar but contributed by others through MSI. Would these be the two tracks (diamond and circle) by Surveillance?

Yes, as well as bottom-half-only HAFUs.
