Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Hi, in AUTO bomb mode, if you do not press and hold the pickle BEFORE bomb cue starts walking down, you can still drop bombs pressing pickle AFTER the release cue passed the horizont line or even disappeared. No track, just tried now stock AUTO bomb training for simplicity, and there it is, can drop bomb after CCRP. I realized it first on a mission bomb run, when I got carried away, and missed the cue completely, looking outside, then in confusion pressed the pickle anyway, and bombs were dropped anyways. Shouldn't they be inhibited from dropping after or behind the CCRP, for safety in a first place?
Harker Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 AFAIK it shouldn't do that, I agree. The whole point is to release at a specific moment. I don't know if there's a small "grace period" (like 0.5 seconds or something) after the line passes the VV though. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 I think it should simply check if the button is pressed at that very moment, when the cue aligns with the horizont line. Any "grace period" time window beyond CCRP, even if just 0.5 second, will drop the bomb long. So I think it shouldn't be any.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 8, 2020 ED Team Posted May 8, 2020 I am not sure of the answer but I have made a report to ask the team. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 8, 2020 ED Team Posted May 8, 2020 Just spoken to the team, If the weapon release button is not pressed, the release cue moves below the velocity vector and flashes for 5 seconds or until the release is initiated. Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 Sorry, it doesn't. I just re-checked it. Cue simply disappears, no blinking 5 sec whatsoever, and bombs can be released as late as 8 seconds after cue disappearance. Probably even longer, didn't try.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 8, 2020 ED Team Posted May 8, 2020 I will look again, but the point is here that the weapon release can be pressed to release the weapon even after the cue has passed. Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 What's the point in allowing the bombs to be dropped beyond CCRP, in sim, let alone in real life?
Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 Or maybe the 5 second blinking is my window to push the nose over in a dive to bring the cue back above the horizont line? I don't see the reason ever to be able to drop with the cue below the horizont line. Defies CCRP purpose.
Swift. Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 I assume its because when using an LGB you will still be within the ALR to get the sensor onto the laser and the weapon will have enough energy to guide properly. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
Razor18 Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 No question if you drop the LGB after CCRP (i. e. closer to the target) it will be definitely easier for it to fall on an even steeper trajectory (gravity helping them even more), than when it's dropped at the CCRP. But then again, for this method to work for an LGB, can you allow a dumb bomb to have any chance to fall long, if you drop that one with AUTO?
