MadTommy Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I was just doing a little refresher of the Su25T, not flown it for ages. Doing some SEAD testing...had 2 Kh-58 and 2 Kh-25MPU. Fired the 2 58s and the 1st 25 successfully, killing targets, on firing the 2nd 25 it exploded 70 yards off the rail. It was not intercepted or similar. It just blew up. The target was a SA-3 system. Is this a bug or is there some other explanation? I do have the track if its needed. 159th_Viper Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Is the issue capable of being replicated? If so, then yeah, a short track illustrating the behaviour will be appreciated. The MPU will self-destruct if the Radar ceases to transmit. Was the SA-3 still lighting up the Beryosa when the MPU exploded? Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? The MPU will self-destruct if the Radar ceases to transmit. Was the SA-3 still lighting up the Beryosa when the MPU exploded? Yes radar was still transmitting, i had not fired at the SA-3 yet and i continued to receive a lock warning before & after the 25 exploded. I have flown this mission 3 times, this occurred the one time. I'll look at the track again tomorrow and post it up. EtherealN Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm a bit unsure about the russian RWR's, but remember that on american RWR's you'll still have a "contact" even after the hostile transmitter has ceased operating. So it is possible that your RWR was still beeping though the radar had actually ceased transmitting. Someone that knows the russian kit better than I do will have to chime in on that though. 159th_Viper Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Yeah - you have about a 5-7 second contact (iirc) after the fact with the Beryoza. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Relent Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I've observed the same behavior with the Kh-25MPU on two occasions. Each time the first missile exploded and the second went on and hit the target. I was watching in both cases in external and did not notice the target mobile SAM (Tunguska) firing it's cannon at the incoming missile. Also, since both missiles were in the air in each case, if the first one self-detonated due to the target turning off it's radar, wouldn't the second missile self-detonate as well? No track here.. I guess I'll have to see what key that is mapped too :).
HiJack Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I saw the same issue also but thought it was linked to the fact that I fired more than one missile at the same target. (HJ)
docfu Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Just to add I've had this happen a number of times on the instant action SEAD mission. Seems to be about a 25% chance that my missiles will just explode 0-3 seconds after launching. Changing targets/cycling targets/weapons does nothing. The only thing that works is restarting the mission. At first I thought this was some kind of anti-missile jamming system was causing them to explode, but now that I know it's a game bug I'll save any tracks when that happens.
docfu Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Here is a track file I saved, given, I am using unlimited ammo, but that shouldn't cause missiles to randomly explode just after I launch them... MissileSelfDestruct.trk
HiJack Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Actually I was also using unlimited ammo when the incidents happend! It may be some link there. (HJ)
RagnarDa Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I got another trackfile (14mb - too big for forum): The fun starts at around 9:20. Even Kh-58 exploded and no unlimited weap used. DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.
