I have a dream that one day the Sim Nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men will fly equal." I have a dream that one day on the high hills of Crimea & Altis the sons of former pilots and the sons of former plane owners will be able to sit down together at a table of RedFlag. I have a dream that one day even the state of Nevada, a state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freeflights and aircombats. I have a dream that my three wingmens will one day fly in a nation where they will not be judged by the colours of their skin but by the content of their true skills. I have a dream that one day maybe next month Eagle Dynamics and The Fighter Collection will be merged with Bohimia Interactive and become á great and big sim community! I have a dream!

Actually, a nice dream, if a bit over the top in the form and presentation part. Except, I would really like that ED and BMS merge first - it's shame and utter waste that two communities are artificially divided ...

ED would probably be willing to accept them as a 3rd party developer or partner. Now all you have to do is convince Bohemia Interactive (probably not going to happen). This applies to anyone who thinks "I wish team X would join DCS" so go lobby your favorite developers to develop for DCS!

I have heard that there is a mod for Falcon BMS to fly in Arma but ideally if Arma 3 and DCS were MP compatible it would be awesome. At the moment though it is unlikely to ever happen since ED appears to be making DCS sort of like Arma by having CA.

A perfect world DCS EDGE, Falcon 4s Dynamic Campaign and Arma 2/3 on the ground with ACEmod.:pilotfly:

It is a nice dream but as it stands right now (business concerns not withstanding), no consumer level computer can really handle the level of CPU usage that having DCS and Arma together would require.

I mean, lets look at DCS for a minute, the amount of CPU power devoted just for stuff we can't even see (flight model, physics, systems modeling, etc) is pretty impressive and it is why DCS is a pretty CPU heavy sim.

Arma is the same, a lot of stuff happening in the background that we can't see that takes a ton of CPU power to really deal with.

If you were to combine both, nobody could run it, more to the point, running a Arma level ground simulation in the scale you would need for DCS is not practical with computers as they are.

So, it is a nice dream and a lot of folks bring it up but I don't think it will be happening any time in the near future.

Yeah, no.

Disregarding certain huge obstacles like that it's just something that isn't technically possible, think about it a little bit critically: How many Arma players would appreciate being blown to smithereens from an A-10C circling at 25,000 feet? Just how funny would it be to be on the ground when such incredibly powerful platforms are about? Think of how many planes and how many infantrymen you'd see in any major combat operation today. The Infantry : Plane ratio is so staggeringly high that Arma alone can't handle that many people, let alone combining it with DCS.

It also completely disregards the fact that air combat and ground combat are very widely separated. You don't have large areal engagements going on above the battlefield. The large air operations take place much further away, and often, before the ground war has even commenced these days. For that reason alone, mixing a flight sim with an infantry sim is a very bad idea; You'd end up stuffing a huge amount of software and files and whatnot into the game in the form of the air sim, despite the fact that it will at best only play an extremely marginal role, and at worst, ruin the game.

It's not even a nice dream unless you make the subconscious decision to leave out all considerations for why it would not be nice.

There are FSX Planes being ported to ArmAIII, just dont expect more than 1/3 accuracy in flight models.

More like .001 accuracy, I can't even properrly turn a Tupolev without 60 degrees of bank! Rudders feel like the passengers are sticking their hands out the window to alter drag on one side, they're worthless.

it was a rough estimation, guess i wasnt close.

I do know that ArmA-II Jets are just a hair above BF2/BF3 Jets....

Well in that hypothetical, merge scenario, we would make Franken-sim (there you go ... :D) taking the best parts from both titles - infantry from Arma and flight part from DCS (or dynamic campaign, attention to detail and F16 from BMS and everything else from DCS).

Vice versa wouldn't work as well, would it? :D

so true

and i just played fsx-superbug and realized again that is the same: very-very far from dcs flight models
