Dudester22 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Just like the thread title ask, what bomb do I use to destroy an Aircraft Carrier?
cichlidfan Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 With one bomb? ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Exorcet Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Not sure about the bomb, but I don't think you would use an A-10. 2000 lbs would by my guess. Or maybe cluster bombs to make whole deck useless, even if it doesn't sink the ship. Dudester22 Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Multiple 2000 lbs bombs, with delayed fuses.... How many would you say? Would I have to rearm after a full load? :)
javelina1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 How many would you say? Would I have to rearm after a full load? :) A squadron of these bad boys managed to do so, with slightly smaller bombs... :) MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control
Exorcet Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 How many would you say? Would I have to rearm after a full load? :) 6 for the Admiral. Or you could specify and use a trigger to kill the carrier after a certain number of hits. Jona33 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 It's possible to take out the Moscow with 6 mk-82s, made a mission where it was in port, you had to fly low level through the valley's dump Mk-82AIRs from a couple of hundred feet then run like ****. :P Then when you get home you're told you're runways blown up so you land in the road in the middle of Sochi. Wouldn't want things to be too easy. :D Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

javelina1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Gotta punch below the flight deck, and get to the Jet Fuel. Or the water line. Paradox Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I reckon a CBU on the deck would make them think twice. You'd never get that close of course.
WildBillKelsoe Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) well from a technical perspective, hitting a carrier (or any ship) with torpedoes is far more effective than deck bombing. In the old days, a properly made torpedo would be fired a few feet under the keel of a ship, and when it comes within close proximity of the keel, it would detonate creating a shockwave so strong that it would 'break the back' of the ship and slice it into 2 halves. God I miss Silent Hunter 4... Oh, here is a demonstration: Edited March 2, 2014 by WildBillKelsoe AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. javelina1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Exactly. I've still got Silent Hunter III, with the Grey Wolves mods, plus a whole host of other mods. You fire your "eels", a couple meters below the keel, and let the magnetic warhead do its job. Now that would be an interesting loadout for the Hawg, a torp' :D MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control
