I did a search, I know there are a lot of threads on this, but I only looked because I to was trying to find a way to show wind direction at ground level for the P-51.

I did try the air race cone, but that didn't seem to move with wind direction, the best I could find to use was smoke from a factory.

A wind sock would be awesome!

Yeah a wind sock would be really useful, and an immersive addition to DCSW.

Surely they're basic kit at airfields all over the World?

Especially useful with dynamic weather, where it's not possible to get a visual wind indication from smoke markers either. Look for chimney smoke, or blow something up :) are the only options at the moment - And as has been said, wind direction is obviously very important if you're playing with quite strong winds with certain aircraft.

I've read in the past it's simply not possible - but I can't understand this as destroyed vehicles smoke like crazy and this effect demonstrates both wind strength and direction nicely.

Surely if 'fire smoke' can show this in standard & dynamic weather, then marker smoke can be made to, and if marker smoke can can be made to, then surely a new object can be animated using the same arguments. But that's very easy for me to say - as I'm not a coder:D

But it would be an addition greater than the sum of it's parts, if such a basic thing as a wind sock could be added to DCSW, (& getting the smoke markers moving with DW).
