After seeing Hannibal raise this in Diveplanes audio thread, I thought oooh that I have to do also.

Curiously, is anyone using a Simpit bass shaker setup? Perhaps majority are using the all in one Buttkicker variety.

I looked around and see various ideas and methods from racing Simpit fans.

The other thought was if the bass shakers primarily function on sub 80hz audio, does the current DCS audio sound files have wave and ogg files that have sub 80hz audio down to even 20hz.

This might be a question for Diveplane also..

Would be awesome to isolate the clunking sounds of gear, airframe buffering wind, ejections, rail launches.. Where the bas shaker audio can be tuned to that hertz I assume with a second amplifier or adjusted crossover

Love to hear your thoughts and ideas, and also the setup used and shakers acquired.

Interesting, I'm looking at two mounted Aura Pro bass shakers, and possibly a 7.2 receiver.

I have a spare Sony 10" woofer and satellite speakers, the bass shakers will be mounted underneath and on the rear of the Akers Barnes seat.

I just need to find a reputable seller either in or out of Aus.

I recently upgraded my old Creative 5.1 system to the Logitech Z906, and then after giving up on iVibe, and seeing that Simvibe doesn't seem to support DCS, decided to go with a Buttkicker. I wasn't sure how well it work, but I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Of course it's not the exported-data-driven wonder that iVibe promised to be, but it's very cool nonetheless: very immersive combination of bass and vibration when firing the gun, during takeoff run over bumpy concrete, on dropping bombs, and due to engine exhaust in external views.

So for those who don't want to go the DIY route, I'd definitely recommend a Buttkicker paired with a quality subwoofer.

Bass Shaker, that's just subs under the seat right?

You may want to try a bandpass box. I've never built one for sitting on though.

I have these which are fine for my setup, get some good vibration out of them :)

Nice info,

I not sure how I'd mount the Buttkicker on an Akers Barnes pit.

I may look at two rockwood or aura, so I can surface mount behind the seat and underneath... Need to do some more reading and work out an amplifier to use with 5.1 on the sound card, unless I just split the woofers and shakers.. Hmm.

I went with a Buttkicker Gamer 2 from an importer to get started.

Looking forward to see how it performs.

How are you guys mounting your subwoofers, under the seat, behind or just in the room but cranked up.

Got the Buttkicker installed, need to tweak the audio a bit to get the best feel, too much feels excessive and awkward.

What we need is a way to export the telemetry and implement with audio to a second sound card, so we can experience the buffet, etc.

One annoying aspect is because it working on audio, the audio files need to be tweaked with more bass. Turning to the ear you hear the engine roar with bass, but when viewing forward it doesn't have as much.

You could use a tuneable frequency separation filter to separate the low bass for the kicker from the audio signal. This might result in some of the impulse-like transients getting lost or altered in the kicker signal, though.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
