Hello dear Eagle Dynamics developers.

I would like to ask you if there are any plans of making new DCS rendering engine - EDGE, compatible with NVidia 3D Vision 2?

If there are no such plans at the moment, I would like to request for you, considering this option.

So far latest version of DCS World Open Beta (1.2.8 ) supports it, however not 100%.

Here are the issues:

1 - somehow 3D Vision doesn't work with DCS running in full-screen mode, only windowed. Which is weird but I'm sure it should be very easy to solve.

2 - post process effects (HDR) doesn't work correctly, water reflections don't work as well, which is fine, no big deal

3 - most importantly - HUDs of most airplanes are rendered not at the infinity plane, but somewhere close to the HUD glass itself, there are some mods for fixing this on Ka-50, and A-10C available, but would be good if it would be properly fixed by devs.

Please consider implementing proper support of 3DV, in current version it's "almost there", but would be good if EDGE would support it 100%.

I don't think it's a hard task to ask, for example Oculus Rift implementation is much harder.

I guess many comrades here on forums would agree with me, as many of you have 3DTVs or modern gaming monitors 120 - 144 Hz.

Also, I could imagine, NVidia would be glad to support you with making this implementation.

Would be good to hear from developers on this.

I too would put my request in for 3D Support as well.. Being a 3D user and have been frustrated by the lack of support..

I have been told before since none of the Testers have a 3D system it is hard to implement the fixes as they have no way to test it..

Well I here by put my request in to be a tester of sorts I have a 3D triplescreen setup and would be happy to be a tester..

Well EDGE will have Rift support.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Totally agree with this. I mostly fly the A-10C and if it wasn´t for 2 users who made a MOD which makes the HUD usuable, I probably would have dropped A-10C alltogether. I have always liked stereoscopic gaming and I found that using that for simulators is way better than anything else I tried (FPS for examle). I never played DCS without stereoscopic3d for more than a few minutes.

Yes, it will have Rift support, but it doesn't automatically mean that it will have NVidia 3D Vision support, and we requesting NVidia 3D Vision support here.

Hi Nephilim, fellow 3D triple screener here as well.

If ED would like to have any tests I would be glad to participate as well, DCS in 3D Vision surround is just brilliant.

Hey Great, IT is amazing with 3D vision.. I just found a new mod over at the GeForce forums that can make the Seperation increase beyond the stock settings..

It looks incredibly more realistic with the new separation ability increase on my system.. Perhaps you too could use it here is the link:

Hi Mnemonic, I have a fix for getting Full screen to work.. You will need the latest version of NVidia Inspector tho.. so go get that and I will post My Fix Based on the work here:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/377040/

Now I got to the last part where I needed to import the new file I could NOT get it too work.. So based on this guys work I made a .nip file that will import and fix the full screen problem we 3D Vision users suffer from.

Once you have that file downloaded go ahead nand run NVidia inspector and find the Digital Combat series:Black Shark profile and delete it.. Once you do that import the DCS.nip File into inspector..

Once you do that go ahead and run DCSW and set in the options menu to run in Full screen.

Probally would be best to restart DCSW and run a mission. When running it you should have it working in Fullscreen and 3D Vision..

I know it works on mine so this should fix your as well..

Hi Nephilim, thanks for the tip, but that file looks like damaged, xml is not properly constructed

I'm trying to do this file myself now.

Actually just deleting Black Shark profile - enabled DCS to work in FullScreen with HDR in stereo! However separation settings are too strong, but it's manageble to tweak them.

Will dig into it more, thanks!

Also what version of NVidia inspector you use? Mine (1.9.7.2) was unable to read file you gave me.

Well if just deleting the BS Profile does it no need to have that DCS.nip I uploaded.. IT is a NIP file. and I have the same version as your inspector..

For me at least I can get the same effect as nVidia 3D Vision by using stereo mode on my 55" LG and modifying the stereo display settings.

2D to 3D conversion on a TV doesn't give you "the same" effect. 2D to 3D conversion is not true stereoscopy, because algorithm just "guessing" what is in front, what's on the back, also guessing what's behind elements of cockpit which are obscuring landscape.

In case of NVidia 3D Vision - videocard driver knows exactly what are the geometries being rendered, z-buffer, etc. So it is reproducing proper frames for left and right eyes.

Hi gents, I have tried this fix however I cannot import the changed file. Tried multple times. Does the file name have to be a specific name? Trying to get Nvidia 3D Vision 2 to work in DCS P51.

Thanks for the help.

Last time I used 3D vision it halved my frames rates. Not worth it if you ask me.

Run just fine on my system granted you need a hefty system to run it. It's well worth it, once you fly in 3d or the rift, 2d just doesn't make sense anymore.

Runs fine in BMS Falcon. I don't get any depth of field in DCS so therefore no 3D. Can't upload changes file to Nvida Inspector after numerous attempts.

Where do I get the .Nip file?

With nvidia inspector I create a whole new profile for dcs, world and get,rid of the digital combat blackshark or whatever profile. This allows 3d to work for me at full screen settings.

Thanks. Got it to work by deleting the "Digital Combat Sim Black Shark" Profile using Nvidia Inspector and it worked. My old GTX 570 is struggling so good thing my upgrade to GTX 970 is here shortly.
