What's the difference between LA and build 1935?

Build 1935 is unfinished SoC from GSC. LA is "community" project attempting to bring things lost in development. With new storyline.

Few years back LA was meant to use old SoC builds, then it changed course.

I'm interested in this, especially as I'm just finishing off a playthrough of CoP, however reading some gaming news sites, might be worth holding off on Lost Alpha for a month or two for patches.

It's apparently quite crashy in places with some showstoppers, otherwise people seem quite impressed on initial plays.

I had my first CTD after about an hour of game-play, having barely completed more than one quest.

Takes forever to load, looks amazing and CTDs quickly. Yeah, definitely like vanilla. :D

Hopefully they'll fix the major issues as I'd love to play the first Stalker again with new maps and a parallel storyline.

IIRC, I never actually played through the vanilla game - tried playing it, but didn't really get into it (combat was frustrating). Came back a year or so later when Oblivion Lost 2.2 mod was out and loved the atmosphere and the changes to the gameplay - I would rank it as one of my favourite games ever in fact (except for the ending quest, but those are underwhelming in the sequels as well).

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

It's good, first patch is going to land on May 1. I have already learned how to avoid some crashes

I've just started and this is definitely a breath of fresh air: New everything in the first missions. And yes the tunnel under the military bridge is sheer genius!

There is much more ...trust me.

The Story and gameplay changes are something like Genius.

Saving before doing anything is a must.:music_whistling:

This is one of few games where you need to use quicksave very often.

Dez was talking to people from GSC so few ideas about the story are probably from them.

Edit. Well, I'm stuck for now. Vault is crashing game:

LUA error: d:\retail\lost alpha\gamedata\scripts\ui_safe.script:108: attempt to call global 'get_netpk' (a nil value)

Probably typo somewhere in script.

Spoiler alert :smilewink:

I've been sent by "Sin" to gather intel from "Bandits". It's crashing when I'm entering code to vault in leader's "office".

Edit.

I have found solution: http://www.moddb.com/games/stalker/downloads/lost-alpha-bandit-ui-safe-fix

I feel your pain. I met Doctor.

You need to reset and start from zero. That's why dez warned not to treat it as final release and wait.

Good to know. Right before I got to Garbage for the first time, the game started to CTD all over the place, so I put it aside and thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if there was a patch? That was like 12 hours ago, so luck favors the patient. :)
