version 1.12 has introduced great "improvements" to some areas. Misiles for exaple, now the alamo series has a lot less efectiveness. My setup has the missiles efectiveness bar all to the right... and is almost imposoble, at least for me to hit a fighterfrom 40 km... Ok, I know that is not much dificult to evade such a launch if you make evasive manuevers but I have been watching the IA, and is clearly much more easy to evade the misiles now than in 1.11 version.

Does anyone think that this "tune up" has gone too far here? semi active missiles should be fooled that easy by chaff decoys???????

Hi Ardillita!

I think your missile effectiveness settings are to extreme to tell anything usefull about missile behaviour.

For a neutral comparison try missile effectiveness slider in middle position (50%), which represents closest to real life missile behaviour.

already did

I already did that, in the middle position, efectiveness is much low.

Of course efectiveness of enemy misilles is low too, but, now I have the feeling of shooting "nothing", and evading enemy misiles is more easy now, and took out some "condiment" to the fight.

Maybe the real missiles aren't quite that hard to evade either? ... Alamo's combat history specifically has extremely low Pk...

I have yet to see an AI fighter plane on Average that doesn't evade all the AR missiles at 10/15km from you. I fly 4x AIm-7 and 4x aim-9 on the F-15, and R-73 all around on the mig now. :|

Since the days of Flanker, every upgrade and/or patch has had changes to the missile's effectiveness and flight characteristics. Same goes for aircraft FM, avionics...the list goes on...

It would be nice if ED posted the RL values (with sources for those values) they are using, so the end user could compare it to the game's functionality.

I submit that using the end user to find disparities in this way would expedite the tweaking process.

Active radar missiles have been fooled this easily since 1.1 ...

Hello GGTharos im search to know about some link that speaks with presición about the record of combat of the R 27.

Great Thanks

If it has "extremely low PK", why do they still promote it with the Su-37, Su-35 etc? Why won't they just put 12 RVV-AE's on it? :) Is Russian Airforce that stupid still including a SARH missile which they can't even produce now, on their airplane ? I don't see marketing reasons there, as they would include R-60 too :)

Because anything you can sell is more money for you. That they promote this missile doesn't mean anything other than that they want to sell it. Certainly it can't be entirely ineffective, but the ONLY combat record I've seen for it showed extremely low Pk. EXTREMELY.

Gorrion, google for Eritrea-Ethiopia war.

And its combat record isn't that great, either.

Combat record is just a statistic... and statistics tell you that if you put your left hand in ice cold water and your right hand into steeming hot, your hands are in a pleasurable enviroment

OK, Thanks for the info GGTharos

I would think that what determines missile effectivness has very little to do with the actual missile, but more with things that determines in what situation the weapon is used, such as tactics, type of target, skill of the pilots and so on.

You're right. We should use intuition and bragging instead ;)

I think it is not realistic to expect to have kills all along at 40 km distance!

What about 10nm? That would be a lot more real life I guess.

To me, there seems no problem with the ARH missiles performance in the game. There is a very real problem though with the AI: they have supernatural situational awareness. It is this über-SA that most of the time makes it difficult to hit an AI aircraft in BVR.

The whole issue with BVR engagement is surprise. If the foe knows the missile is coming from long distance, he should be able to evade it without probs. And since the AI have an godlike view, you will never surprise them.

So IMHO AI is the problem, not the missile logic.

No.. if you we're buying military technology you wouldn't have a choice anyway :)
